oldcarfan Posted Tuesday at 12:37 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:37 AM Took a drive yesterday morning and passed a VW Caddy pickup. Looked used but rust free. Sitting at a stoplight two Ford Flexes went past now to tail. They looked like they'd just been to the detailer, all shiny and new. Not sure if they've reached collectible stage, but there was a car club meet in town, so I'm guessing they were headed that way. The Flex was one of my secret favorites back in the day.
Ace-Garageguy Posted Tuesday at 02:08 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:08 AM (edited) '56 or '57 Mk II Continental. Nice survivor driver. Older paint in good condition, a little slightly wavy bodywork, clean mostly original interior. Just the way I'd love to have it... EDIT: You really don't get a sense of how HUGE these things are from photographs. Edited 22 hours ago by Ace-Garageguy accuracy 12

johnyrotten Posted Tuesday at 08:37 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:37 PM (edited) I saw the greatest vanity plate on my way home. He's got the fuzzy dice as well. Probably the kind of thing I'll do when I get to the age, if the plates available. 👍👍 Edited Tuesday at 08:37 PM by johnyrotten 6

I was young-ish, I'd torn the car all the way down to do a resto, the frame had a lot of cracks in it (I wasn't yet a competent welder/fabricator), and somebody made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I always figured I'd find or build another one, but the REALLY stupid part is that mine was factory-built by Lotus as a London Auto Show exhibit, and had what was then known as the full "SCCA" racing option package, including some Cosworth internal engine bits and a pair of Weber 40 DCOE sidedrafts...and the factory build-book. As vintage Loti go, it would be a particularly special car today. 3

Franklin - I'd been keeping an eye on those on eBay a while back since I had a sinister custom idea for one, but they always ended up way beyond my poor guy budget. Then there was the AMT acetate promo (or whatever incredible shrinking plastic those were made out of), where I got one for cheap years back thinking if I could cut apart all the panels and re-glued 'em back on straighter, then I could use that. This is an older photo composite when it arrived in the mail, it's probably gotten worse lately. Maybe if I leave it out in the sun, it'll turn into a curlycue work of art I can sell at an art gallery for 4 figures. 🤣 Edited yesterday at 05:29 AM by Russell C typo 2

Suburban_Hooligan Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago terrible pic shot with a terrible phone camera through a dirty window. 3
oldcarfan Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Saw a Ford truck in my favorite color today at WalMart. It was unmarked but must have been a fleet truck. I've always wanted a truck like this!
Falcon Ranchero Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Went on a cruise in the Highway Star yesterday. Saw a '66 Chevelle convertible, that began following us. Saw the '66 Caprice that parked beside us at the A&W show. That Chevelle followed us until we turned off down a different street. We were on our way to the mechanics shop because my dad was there yesterday and said there was an old Chevy van thing; namely a 1953 Chevy sedan delivery, that, for years had been sitting on a sketchy property downtown, with loads of no-tresspassing signs. Had a photo from 2022, when we went there to see it, that I took through the closed window of the truck, and I put that photo on the forum somewhere, but yesterday at the mechanics it was fair game to photoshoot. Also there was a 1984 Chrysler Fifth Avenue, that was for sale for $4000 from I believe the original owners. So the new owner must be getting a check up for it. And in the shop was a new to the Soo, from 4 hours North the highway in Thunder Bay, a 1972-ish Plymouth Duster. Absolutely stunning car. Hoping to see it at shows soon. 2
