StevenGuthmiller Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) Haven't been getting a whole lot of building done lately due to a couple of minor health issues, as well as a couple of disappointing build starts. Hopefully, now that I'm feeling a bit better, I can jump back into the saddle & get something done! In the meantime, here's an older build that I don't believe I've posted here. It's a "Junior Craftsman" series 1959 Buick Invicta built box stock & finished in "Lido Lavender". Steve Edited April 25, 2018 by StevenGuthmiller
Lovefordgalaxie Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 They don't make them kits like that anymore. Or builders for the matter
charlie8575 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 This proves what I've said about 1959-60 Buicks... You either paint them in a dark, subdued color to tone them out, or go nuts and make sure they stick out like a sore thumb! Great job, Steve. Charlie Larkin
bisc63 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Absolutely stunning handling of the foil work; BRAVO! Cool color choice.
khier Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I love it when models are painted in era specific colors. Clever color choice, congratulations.
peekay Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Beautiful work again, Steve! Great colour choices and stunning workmanship throughout - especially the grille detail, which can't have been easy in this case. I love these cars and also have an unbuilt kit.
John Goschke Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Beautiful build, Steve! The natural color choice for that car! Once again I'm very impressed by your detail work on that grill!
johnbuzzed Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Really nice; really, really nice. I would be happy to have that on my shelf.
unclescott58 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Beautiful job Steven. This is a kit AMT needs to reissue if they have dies for it. And from what I know of history of the kit, they should. Scott
TooOld Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 That's gorgeous ! Congrats on another beautiful model .
Tom Geiger Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Nice work. As John said, the detailing on the grill is great. But the outstanding part is the work you did on the interior. It's not easy multi-toning one of those God forsaken interior buckets!
StevenGuthmiller Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) Thanks Guys! I thought the Lido Lavender was the "natural" choice for one of these old monsters. As far as the interior goes, I was a little disappointed on how it turned out, but I guess it'll do. The grille on these '59 Buicks is pretty "nit-picky" to detail, but it still wasn't as bad as the '58 Buick! Steve Edited October 6, 2014 by StevenGuthmiller
