exesivefire
firewall time, that brake booster has to go, manual brakes for this track ride. also filling the hinge slots while im at it.
fantacmet
So instead of offsetting the radiator, would could go with small twin radiators mounted differently or in a completely different location, or the single radiator down lower and at an angle, with the bottom tilted backwards. Like they do on alot of other racecars and some exotics. Food for thought and additional options to think about.
slusher
Cleaning up that firewall will look great..
exesivefire
that reservoir needed to go, so I figured now was as good of a time as any. I might remove that core support and mount it to the body, one to make assembly easier, and two to blend it better.
Grumpa
Wow Andy...this is turning out really nice! Can't wait to see it finished! The engine with the turbo looks great!
exesivefire
shot some primer on the engine bay, while I am waiting for that to dry I figured I could make a couple front struts. The kit ones have springs on them so this works better for me.
exesivefire
time to tackle that radiator issue, figured i should make an intercooler while I was at it. Found all my radiators I thought could help. ended up deciding just to work with the stock one. cut the tanks off and narrowed the offending side a bit. styrene added to remake the tanks, wanted to go for an aftermarket aluminum look. that should do! Need to add the filler and the hose locations, but I'm happy with it.
MZ 500
I love all the body mods you have done! Nice Fab work!
exesivefire
same concept with that intercooler, think this must have been from a truck kit of some sort. it ended up being a little wide so the saw came back out more to come... freakshow12
Is that for the down pipe? That rad and intercooler look awesome. You sure the intercooler will fit? Not much room in front
exesivefire
Yes, got it all roughed out, looks like it should work well. The intercooler should fit ok, if not I know I can trim some from behind that bumper

exesivefire
thank you! firewall ready for more primer, I also opened up the area in front of the radiator. Debating about the top of the core support still.. part of me really thinks I should separate it and attach it to the body.
exesivefire
So I forgot about the rack... and got REALLY lucky... I mean I planned this all along got that in and installed my shock/struts too.
exesivefire
then this happened... rebuilding the front of the engine bay next....
freakshow12
I wish I had done that core support on mine. It's tough to get the chassis/ interior in together since the area behind the quarters is so tight and it has to go in first. I got lucky doing my steering rack too. Very minor trim in an unseen area and it fit
freakshow12
I also noticed your rad area had that weird piece missing! I opened all 8 of mine and 3 newer ones were this way and the rest were fine! I fixed mine but you can't see it anyway. Lol.

It's tough to get the chassis/ interior in together since the area behind the quarters is so tight and it has to go in first. I got lucky doing my steering rack too. Very minor trim in an unseen area and it fit thats the main driver, because of the exhaust and the order I need to assemble everything it was almost impossible to get that in the right spot. and now with the radiator change you can see a lot of that area too.. I also noticed your rad area had that weird piece missing! I opened all 8 of mine and 3 newer ones were this way and the rest were fine! I fixed mine but you can't see it anyway. Lol. the part missing behind the radiator? yeah I thought that was weird, I didnt worry much because I planned on cutting that area anyway. Got it pretty close, I know its not 100% correct, but I think it looks a lot better than the big hunk of plastic up there.
exesivefire
mounted the intercooler as well.. I know Ill have to touch up the paint by the time I final assemble but I needed to so I can make the piping.

Tarkmucker
I'm not a big mustang fan but I think I'm in love with this one. I've been following along with this build for a while now and I can't wait til you finish it. You're tempting me to build one now too.
