Quick GMC Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 We get less than an inch of rainfall a year, on average. Today is the second torrential downpour we've had in a month. I am stuck at work, literally. I doubt I'll be able to go home tonight, unless I walk through this and get picked up on the other side of the desert. This is the only road in and out of my work neighborhood. This isn't just water, it's mud, from top to bottom.

Rob Hall Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Wet here today. I heard some parts of the Valley had 4-5 inches since it started at about 2 am. And it is september Edited September 8, 2014 by Rob Hall
Petetrucker07 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) The wild weather out here is inconvenient at times but you get scenery like this. Edited September 8, 2014 by Petetrucker07
Harry P. Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I just heard on the radio that they are breaking 75-year old records for rainfall in Phoenix. That Albert Hammond's full of $%@, man. "It never rains in California, but girl don't they warn ya, It pours. Man, it pours."
Quick GMC Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 I'm really digging the idea of a drone delivered sandwich right now. I'm starving and we don't have any food
Agent G Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 That storm skirted past me and hit Kingman AZ and Boulder City NV. Just a bit later, one front came up the west side of the valley and produced hail in Summerlein. I got drizzled on in Henderson. Waiting to see what happens today. G
my80malibu Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) I got lucky today, with the short straw that is.I just finished putting a 30-30 brake chamber on a Very juicy, trash truck. Danno Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Monsoon in progress. We've had more rain since 2am than ever in history for a single day . . . and there's still 13+ hours to go!! Some people have been complaining that our annual monsoon season has been too dry in past years. We're making up for it now! Gotta get back to the garage and finish up the ark . .
Mike Kucaba Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Yeah it's bad, but as a former Midwesterner, just think if this were SNOW
cobraman Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 News has reported that Arizona recorded the record for most rainfall in a day ever.
slusher Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 The ground in the Phoenix can't take in much water, is that part of the problem??
cobraman Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Yes, plus we're not really set up for that amount of rain. I know my trees and plants enjoyed it. : )
Danno Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Most rain in a single day in history! Wanna play some basketball out by the picnic ramada?

martinfan5 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Some photos from various news stations here
Rob Hall Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 There was some water in spots still on Camelback this afternoon, but mostly mud and dirt out on the road in the areas where it was underwater this morning (around 54th St). My pool is pretty full.
Petetrucker07 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Thats the sad part. Its so dry out here in the west, the cant soak in, it just runs off and turns to mud. Out here in Riverside, they got really hard for about an hour and a half. The water was knee deep and deeper in places. Knocked over trees. It was a wild cell that came through yesterday.
Maindrian Pace Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 My back yard's still a swamp, the pool almost overflowed. First time for that. Still, Mesa didn't get hurt too bad, PHX on the other hand...
Russell C Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 ....I know my trees and plants enjoyed it. : ) Ditto x2. The knuckleheads at my apartment complex can't be bothered to water the trees during the height of the summer, and they were really looking thirsty. This ought to do it 'til the next big rain comes. Might soften up the caliche for a while, but it will turn back to concrete like it usually does.
blunc Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 no one at my job warned me that drainage sux in our parking lot, about 3am I noticed the water was up to the bottom of my drivers door, put on my emergency galoshes and rain coat (trash bags) and went to move the car. turns out I was too late, there was already water sloshing around in all footwells, looks like there are some holes in the bottom of my car that water came in through and which is now slowly draining out of...I can tell by the pools under the car when it sits. now I have to hope it won't mildew before it dries out or I will have to replace the carpet.
