peekay
An AMT employee painted this one way back in 1962, in time for the real car's debut in showrooms across America. I think he did a pretty good job and I wasn't about to mess with it. But I can never leave promos alone and had to add what detail you see here: a bit of a polish, BMF, a few painted details, Modelhaus replacement tyres, fresh chrome from the AMT kit, mirrors, antenna, plates etc. Of course, unless you repaint, you can't get rid of mold seams and the like but they are so minimal on these "first edition" pressings that it's not a big deal. These guys really new what they were doing and promos of this era are as crisp as anything you'll find today. I've been working on a 64 Impala promo at the same time and that will be finished shortly. I bought them here in Switzerland as a pair 25 years ago for a fraction of their current value but stupidly passed on a mint 67 Camaro! BTW the little spots you see, eg on the rear fender in the first shot, are dirt in my camera lens, not in the promo's paint.
