exesivefire Posted January 12, 2015 Author Posted January 12, 2015 Went back and forth on how to deal with possible interference on the rear of the frame from the driveshaft. Decided on cutting a section out (that was scary!) and replacing it with a section of rod Ready to start the rear suspension now.. Played aground with this idea.. I'll probably save it for another build in my head.
bpletcher55 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) ANDY ,you have some good scratch building skills , I did not think I would like this build but your skills at building keep bring me back to check out your work , Very nice job and talent,s . Edited January 12, 2015 by bpletcher55
slusher Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Lots of progress. I have to agree with Blair, you have great scratch building skill...
exesivefire Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 man.. why did I have to go and do this to myself....
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Looking good. I like the wheels on passenger side. The drivers side don't look right to me.
RubiconGuy11 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Thanks!! Means a lot coming from a builder of your caliber. Got a bit of the chrome off, the wheels were molded in Grey, so that helps visualize for now. You Sir have incredible skills, that is ridiculous. Awesome job!!
Jurva Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Modern rims would suit better with the modern frame.
Belugawrx Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Looking good. I like the wheels on passenger side. The drivers side don't look right to me. I agree.
Impalow Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I agree. I thirded...... but you alread know that...
crazyrichard Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 hmm i love the new wheels but i agree on this concept you better stick with the modern spoked wheels and keep those .. they just look perfect and fit the whole modern racer with old style body theme .. but man this is looking better and better , just love this build !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
blunc Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 regarding your intake... since it's going to be a "throttle body" type, you could get away with angling the intake assembly downward instead of straight out or angled upwards. this option should clear the frame support tubes and would add a little engine symmetry if the exhaust will be routed out the passenger side of the engine.
exesivefire Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 So I started on the link mounts today. After fighting trying to attach them to the aluminum tube I realized that wasn't goig to work, so I cut the ends off, stuck a smaller aluminum tube in and sleeved that with styrene tube. I was able to get a better bond with those tiny tabs this way. I still have to shape the chassis side, but you get the idea. I've also committed to using the more modern mesh wheels, I also hit that point of no going back and stripped off the rest of the chrome. I'm going with gloss black rings with satin/flat black or gunmetal centers.
502 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Wow I have actually been following you on instagram. Truck is looking great!
exesivefire Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) Started on hanging the rear axle I have to decide if the links are too long though before I keep going. I'm thinking it needs to be trimmed a bit. Edited January 22, 2015 by exesivefire
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Nice work on the rear end. I think you need to trim the links so the tires are even with the back of the chassis. Keep up the good work.
exesivefire Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 made a paper mockup for the rear panel.. I decided the rear does need to come in a tad.
dino246gt Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Amazing work! Love the ideas, keep it going, looks great so far!
Ryan S. Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 You've got some really cool design work going on here; very fun to watch!
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Looks great. Moving the rear end forward really helps. Keep up the good work.
exesivefire Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 decided on brakes tonight, raided one of my Z06 kits for the rotor/calipers. Front one is going to clear pretty good I think Making rotor hats on my "lathe" Looks like this should work well. I am pretty happy with it, I know it doesnt show well in pics. but once the paint starts flying it should all come together pretty well.
exesivefire Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Got the radiator built today. Used a scrap radiator, cut the core out and made the takes and fan shroud. Used a fan from a Revell 32
