mustang1989 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) Hydraulic hoses to the cylinders? That's a great idea! You're doing this build all kinds of justice and that would make a great addition!! P.S. This build is soooo cool to watch!!! Keep the pics and updates coming Dan! Mopar - D Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Worked on adding the air defectors on the cab. They are just test fitted will glue them on after I have the cab monted on the frame Thanks for looking.
tbill Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 looks great Dan, getting close to the finish line on this.
Mopar - D Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Thanks Tom and JT, Some more work on the cab tonight. Have been able to make the final assemble of the cab to the frame added the shifter. The bumper is just test fitted it will be raised up when in the final location. Still have a lot of items to install on the cab : handrails, door steps, door handles, wipers and horn.
kilrathy10 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Outstanding, Man....Looks great....Just a great build....
Mopar - D Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 Thanks JT, Clayton, George and Ellen I'm getting close maybe next weekend.
mustang1989 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Can't beat it with a stick Dan! I like the fact that you took a lesser known rig are making a striking work of it. Looking good all the way around on this build pal!
Jim B Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Looking really nice. I like this a lot. The addition of the wind deflectors is a good idea. What did you use to make them? How are you mounting them? I picked up this kit last year, and I'm just looking for ideas.
Mopar - D Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Thanks Joe James thanks for the wind defeflectors I used 1/4" evergreen tubing cut in half. It was not easy cutting it but I cut the total length and then cut it in half sort of and sanded the rest. I used pins to attach them to the cab. I added a little block on the back side of each defector.
Mopar - D Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 Thanks Jeff. With a little luck I may get this finished this week end as our weather looks like it's going to be wet and cold here.
tbill Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Dan, killer build, I hope you can get it buttoned up soon and filled with cars
Mopar - D Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 Thanks Tom that's my plan. This mornings progress was working on the trim work on the cab. The bumper, head lights, side mirrors, side grab rails and the top lights. I was working on the turn singles and one of them just vanished off my work bench all on its own to wear ever so now I'm working on plan B. Thanks for all the support and comments on my build.
cowboy rich Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I didn't know anyone could take one of those trucks and make it look so cool. Great job!! I remember seeing those haul cars when I was a kid.well replicated. Rich
Petetrucker07 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Nice work Dan. Looks like your on the home stretch.
Mopar - D Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 Thanks Richard and Clayton, Little more progress this morning adding the trim working on getting the exhaust stack length marked. I gave up on trying to find the missing turn single and used some square ones I had but rounded them off. Still need to finish adding some side lights on the back section and glue it on.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Lookin good. Are you gonna do the stack straight or curve it out?
