All new Citroen DS19 kit

So you two are telling me that you don't find the fact a JAPANESE company is the one doing these doesn't qualify as eccentric taste?

I don't care how popular it was in Europe, Revell AG isn't the one doing it are they? Something perhaps you'd expect from Heller, but not an upstart Japanese company.

But then again if you appreciated the history of Ebbro instead of trying to tell me how much of an idiot I am, you'd find they sort of specialise in off-the-wall eccentric stuff.

Go ahead tell me all about how 5 years ago you saw a wave of Citroens coming out...

As far as 70s land yachts, it wouldn't be wise to tool up new ones. When Model King issued the 1970 Buick Electra and 1971 Thunderbird reissues... they were a slow sell for Dave!

I bet you anything they wouldn't have been slow sellers in Europe. The problem was, they weren't really marketed here, so only a few hardcore guys knew about them and had them sent from US dealers (another 'issue' I can see with them is that their rather naff box art probably did nothing for sales to the general public, look at Moebius to spot the difference).

I don't know why American kits suddenly disappeared from our hobby shop shelves during the 90s never to return, but export is something the US kit industry should seriously look into.

Dave Metzner, are you reading this?

Back to the DS.

A friend of mine is one of those there graphic artisterist types and I asked him to make some artwork for decals to replicate the "Helanca" seat patterns.

When they are finished, I'm going to post them here, so you can print them onto decal sheet and use them.

The same goes for French number plates and national sign (the letter 'F' in a white oval), would anyone be interested in these?

In its home market, the DS was often fitted with a split number plate up front. I will do some plates used on certain movie cars.

The pattern is still too repetitive. It is on the real cars, but not to this extent. It also comes out too dense in scale right now:

The idea is to reduce it to the pattern itself in the end, once we have it right.

Then you can print it in the desired colour onto clear decal sheet and overlay it onto your seats after they were painted with the base colour.

Does this make sense?

We'll make them 1:24 and 1:18 scale.

These are just a few examples of available Helanca combinations:

The marble white with the red pattern interior is rather sharp.

I'm seriously considering getting one of these kits for something totally off-the-wall different for me.

And yes, I'd be interested in an interior decal sheet.

  • 3 months later...

Goody gumdrops.

Since I have a standing PW at HLJ, I put in for a back order - hoping it might come with the Mosquito in September and not the Sesto in December.

This'n's a mandate for moi, and I was mightily ticked to see an order stop practically soon as it was listed. Maybe shoulda gone with Search this time.

then I believe you probably got one Chuck; I have not been billed or anything. if it is in your PW then you got it, if not then its probably on its way to your PW.  it probably went out of stock again just from pre-orders (I neglected to submit a preorder, I thought the price was too high. I have since rethought that)

"People loved its extraordinary soft ride and body movements which made them feel like riding some kind of animal."

From the kit description on one of the Japanese vendors site.  Wonder what kind of animal ride they're thinking of....
