Tom Geiger Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I would be surprised if we didn't get a few different versions of the DS, since we've gotten versions on all the other releases. On the 2CV van, I see we are getting a pickup next. There are several versions of the Renault. Maybe with the DS we'll get a two door, a convertible and since this is coming from Europe maybe a wagon! The wagon version is really cool looking!

I can't too much at the moment, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Ebbro release the Safari/Break version of the DS and the Citroen Ami 6 ....
dublin boy Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 No such thing as a 2 door DS, apart from the Chapron soft tops, Yes there are pics, but it never got into even limited production. The Chapron convertibles are worth serious money.
Junkman Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Chapron did make coupes as well, the Concorde for example. Edited February 4, 2015 by Junkman
GeeBee Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 No such thing as a 2 door DS, Oh yes there is ......
dublin boy Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 You made that one up in your back garden Geoff! LOL No actual proper production of 2 door hardtops though. I can see a conversion into a chopped top coupe as the best lead sled ever!
Atmobil Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I have a 1:43 diecast of a DS Coupe called Le Dandy, I belive it was made by Chapron. As I see it the two most obvious versions apart from the one already on the way would be the facelifted post 67 version and the Safari (wagon), in a way that could be 3 versions as you would have two wagons (pre and post 67) aswell as the two sedans.
dublin boy Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Being realistic, I assume the DS 21 nose could be grafted on to the 19 without too much cost. I really want a DS 23 Pallas, fuel injection was still rare back then in 1973. Apparantly the plan for the DS was a flat 6 engine, alas there was no money so the old Traction Avant engine was used, dating back to the stone age. Europe only went to fuel injection for everything in 92 when legislation demanded it along with unleaded and cats.
PatW Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I built an old Heller kit last year......................
Young iron Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Enjoy this great reference website for DSs : http://www.nuancierds.fr/entree.htm I wanna mine be Bleu turquoise with Oldfashioned blue seats. http://www.nuancierds.fr/INTZ%20bleu%20turquoise%20ID%201957.htm
Junkman Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I'm going to get decals made for this: The real stuff is still available: Maybe I should get some and see my taylor?
jbwelda Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 ah yes a "Le Dandy" Coupe, Henri Chapron body on DS Chassis. certainly in line as one of the most graceful auto designs ever. boy I would be in heaven if this one ever came about. here are photos of my Corgi Toys version: jb
martinfan5 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I got all excited that I could build the car that the Griswolds drove while in Germany , sadly no, I can not, it was the DS21
martinfan5 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Just be patient. I am not to worried about it to be honest, it was something that I thought about.
Junkman Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Yeah, just wait. Same goes for all who want to build the BTTF.
Atmobil Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Here is some pictures of my 1:43 die-cast Le Dandy coupe, sold by Editions Atlas in their Classic Sports Cars series. I get these models on a subscibtion so I get a new one every month but I do belive you can pick them up on Ebay.
jbwelda Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 guess what just came out (I guess) in 1/18 diecast? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Metal-18-1964-Citroen-DS-19-Chapron-Le-Dandy-Red-LE-of-1500-1-18-Scale-New-/201215453454?pt=Diecast_Vehicles&hash=item2ed960290e jb
Atmobil Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 That looks very nice, and I guess that for that price it should be very nice But I have stopped collecting 1:18 diecasts, I still have a collection of about 60 or 70 at my parents house that I don't have room for here at home.
martinfan5 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Pre orders have started for this one, Hobby Search has the price at $62 , HLJ does not have it listed yet. No release date yet. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10324887 Edited May 1, 2015 by martinfan5
charlie8575 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 The price has adjusted to $64.92. If the Japanese are selling it at that price, I DREAD to see what the U.S. price will be! Meh, the heck with it, these are cool. Charlie Larkin
niteowl7710 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) The price has adjusted to $64.92. If the Japanese are selling it at that price, I DREAD to see what the U.S. price will be! Meh, the heck with it, these are cool. Charlie Larkin That's the retail price, the sales price is below it, and is actually down a few pennies to $61.68. When HLJ lists it next week after Golden Week ends I predict a lower price below $60. Is it stiff? Well you're talking about a "boutique" producer at this point. EBBRO doesn't have 50 years of old tooling they can wrap in nostalgic box art and sell a bunch of for the umpteenth reissue. This is a full detail kit of an admittedly odd car without many variants for further releases beyond updating to the later model cycle, the convertible, and maybe the wagon. Low volume kit from scratch. You guys want one, you'll have to pay the freight. This is the reality of why Revell is the way they are when it comes to not kitting up that odd 70s land yacht I see requested all the time. Imagine the rioting if they announced a $50 1/25 kit.
