Nope. My wife and I have been married for more than 37 years. I have been building for more than 54 years. I once told her, before we were married, that if I couldn't build I would go nuts. And she's still with me.

A whole bunch of- most likely, the majority of- those modelers who I know are married and have been for many years. You just gotta find the right "chick". Heck, they even attend shows, contests and swap meets.

It took almost 28 years, but my wife actually asks me questions occasionally like, "what are you working on now"? or "what color is that"? I know she's not really all that interested, but she tries. :) Steve

My girlfriend dbbycreations has been building along side me for about a year..

And she is liking the creativity involved in bringing out a cool looking car

From hunks of plastic....

Diversity is a good thing

Just sayin'

Cheers

I'm happy to see that, overall, this thread is not turning into a male / female discussion as that was not the intention. I'm sure that if responses and subsequent posts continue in that direction, then at some point one or several of the Moderators will decide to, in fact, lock it up because of political or moral implications. I ask that we please do not have that happen. Let's keep the comments going without getting argumentative.

I was merely expressing my positive enjoyment of the diversity of this hobby, the people who are involved in this hobby, and this Forum. Let's not turn it into something else. Thank you all very much.

I'm a member of this forum and one other major forum and am glad I can come here to talk about models and all the things that go with it. Having this in common with all that are in this forum makes it an awesome place to be. I've had other forums I joined and have recently ditched them in favor of this and one other I'm in now due to the friendly and helpful nature. It's also interesting to see all the different fields of modeling that takes place in here. Thanks Rich for bringing this all to light. I'm glad to be here with you all, Joe

Rich, your opening post was one of the most enjoyable posts I've ever read here. How refreshing to read a post that's positive, upbeat, insightful, and just plain nice.

If we ever meet up in real life I'd be proud to shake your hand.

I think all the different nationalities brings new ideas and views. Greatly appreciated by me. My local model club is fine, but a very small demographic.

I couldn't agree more! Not a lot of truly "nice" guys around, good to meet one here.

Thank you very much Harry. I'd also like to shake your hand as you're one of those who do your best to try to keep the peace here...... besides the fact that you build some pretty darn nice models.

And no, I'm not trying to "suck up" to you.

Do you mean to tell me that chicks won't dig me because I build models?!?!

On another forum, I'm famous for this quote: "In the six thousand years of recorded human civilization, no one has ever gotten laid because he had the best detailed wheel wells at the Model Airplane Club meeting."

I am very thankful for this forum as well. Grateful, actually. Grateful for the friends I have made in just a year of being a member. It has totally revived my building, and Im more passionate about it now than ever before. This forum being the "hub" of so many scattered builders from state-to-state-to-country-country. I have learned a TON from every different type of build shared here. It has been therapeutic to say the least. I think we all raise the bar on each other, and were all keeping the hobby alive. I dont whats to become of future generations, but they dont know what theyre missing. All I can about this forum is Thanks! Its a pleasure to be here.

I miss crazygirl ....

I hope she comes back to the forum but based on her own posts I'd guess she may have gone on to a different "fascination", I seem to recall she mentioned guitars...

It seems a shame, after she acquired and rebuilt a brand new lathe and was right in the middle of a corvette build when she stopped posting.
