59-Desoto Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 A conversion from a distressed Impala HT , hope you like it
unclescott58 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 One of my "Holy Grail" models. Very nice. Scott
59-Desoto Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 Came out not so bad considering where and what I started with Ted
mikemodeler Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Nice save and great job on converting it (pun intended!)
1972coronet Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Wow , Gene ! You have assemblled an impressive mix of Bow Ties ! Keep up the great work !
DumpyDan Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Cool, and another one saved. Nice looking car
asfastasu Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Nice. Was that a blown Ford Cammer in it?lol
Tom Geiger Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Nice save! For some reason the 1972 seems to be the hardest full size Chevy to find. It was the only one I didn't have and it took me 6 months of bidding on eBay to score a rebuildable junker like yours.
58 Impala Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 i still have that model from when i was teen, its all there except the wheels and motor. Plan on rebuilding someday. My holy grail if I could find/afford it is a 71 Impala, my first car.
Bob Ellis Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 The model is somewhat pricey, Ebay or other places. I may seem strange to say it, but using a promo and cutting the hood open and popping open the engine plate is a good way to get this kit. Kits can actually cost more. Good chrome is usually found on a promo too.
Robberbaron Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Nice save. A friend of mine had a 1:1 '72 hardtop with the 400 small block in a similar shade of blue, and my brother has a '75 Caprice convertible, so I have a soft spot for these full sizers.
Tom Geiger Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) If you go the promo route, the currently available AMT 1970 Impala chassis and engine set up will scoot right under that body. Edited January 27, 2015 by Tom Geiger
