Chuck Most Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) In my ongoing saga to build some of the Revell '97 Ford truck kits in the stash, I just finished this. It started as the SuperCab Flareside kit. The frame was stretched to accommodate the 8' Styleside bed from the regular cab kit. The truck was converted to 4 wheel drive- the transfer case and the majority of the front suspension came from the AMT '78 Super Stones Ford, and the rear springs came from an AMT Monster Truck. The wheels and F350 decals came from a Maisto die cast kit, the tires are BFG Krawlers from Fireball Modelworks. I also made a K&N intake, scratchbuilt the bumpers, and made a dual-outlet exhaust. The spotlights came from a SATCO Nissan Pathfinder, and the rear hitch was pirated from a Revell Kurtis Midget kit. Paint is Testors Lime Ice. Edited September 27, 2016 by Chuck Most

rsxse240 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Looks great .. love the colour. the only thing missing is the panel lines. I would suggest some kind of commercial signage to break up the billboard sides. Great build! I see a lot of these at work (lifted long bed Fords) and yours looks right on.
martinfan5 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Nice work How did you do the rear bumper ?
Chuck Most Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 Thanks guys! Nice work How did you do the rear bumper ? The main piece is half-round strip- full piece for the back, and two shorter pieces on the other side so there's a notch for the plate. The bars running down to the hitch are .020" styrene cut to shape.
gatorincebu Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Cool 4X4. You did areal nice job on it. Be Well Gator
JordanFordF1 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 That wasn't what I was expecting. Awesome. There just aren't enough 4WD model trucks out there.
carrucha Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Good job. I plan on combining the same Ford p/u kits to make a replica of my dad's work truck.
Chuck Most Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 I haven't built the MPC GMC Deserter yet, but... ... it sure comes with some nice decals.
Chuck Most Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 As of last weekend, here's her new look. The grille is a modified '99 Lighting piece. I added a skid plate from a Revell Wrangler Rubicon and built a new front bumper with recessed lights and an exposed winch fairlead. I used some tube steps from the Harley edition, and tinted the side and rear windows.
