Porscheman Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) I built this one a couple of years ago and came accross it when I was reorganizing my collection. This is a Modelhaus resin. I painted it Tamiya's mica red with white and merlot interior. No clear coat was used on this build. Lots of BMF and the wire wheels were treated with black wash. Modelhaus did a beautiful job on this casting of one of my favorite 50's cars. Thanks for looking. Al Edited February 24, 2015 by Porscheman
DumpyDan Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Sweet, now that is a looker. Very good work.
59-Desoto Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Man it sure is a good looing car, as mentioned not one you see often. Summer time cruiser.
sjordan2 Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Great model. I wish your pictures were larger.
landman Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Al, is it a complete kit? If not what did you use for a donor? Well done in any case.
Ramfins59 Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Wow, that is a great looking car Al. I'll have to look into eventually getting one of these kits for my "Class of '53".
wayne swayze Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Very nice looking Packard indeed. The wheels are great.
Harry P. Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I wish your pictures were larger. Click on them. PS: Beautiful model!
Porscheman Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 Al, is it a complete kit? If not what did you use for a donor? Well done in any case. Wow, I'm really suprised the all the nice comment. I thought only Ray, Rich and myself would be the only ones to remember this true classic. Pat, It's a complete kit. Here's the link to the Modelhaus's Packard. http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?c=4195 Thanks again, Al
Porscheman Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 Thank you Stephen. I fell in love with this car back in the 70's, when I found a real one in a farmer's barn in upstate Wisconsin. Told my dad this would be a great project car and said, that car will never be worth what you put into it. He was wrong. Al
Eric Macleod Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Oooo La La. There are LOTS of us out here who appreciate Packards. Yours is especially nice. I have never seen one of the Modelhaus kits completed. I am impressed enough with this model that I want to own one of my own. Great model. Eric
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) Don Holthaus does such great work! Sometimes I wonder which direction the hobby would have gone without him. He is "the" guy for replacement parts & resin cast kits IMO. Great work on the Packard Al! One of those Modelhaus kits along with the '48 Tucker that I've been eyeing for a long time. Dyno Davo Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Very nice build. Never seen one before. Thanks for posting
unclescott58 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Post war Packards never get the appreciation they deserve. The Caribbean has always been a classy car. Nice job on the model. Scott
crazyjim Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I don't think I've ever seen one of those. Very nice build.
Porscheman Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) Thank you for all the nice comments. The Modelhaus makes some of the best resins of never before kitted cars. Can't wait till NNL East to see what he has new. Al Edited February 25, 2015 by Porscheman
