microwheel Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Nice win Joe and well deserved. Is that a Focke-Wulf Fw 190 I see in your last pic. Nice build as well. If my brother were still around he would be begging to see more pics of it. He loved building aircraft and armor.
Roadrunner Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 (edited) Good job, Joe, glad to see that you did well in competition. Edited April 26, 2015 by Roadrunner
mustang1989 Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 Thank you Jim and Kevin! I was surprised enough to see that the Challenger won 1st place but I sure enough didn't see the Best in Automotive one coming at all. There were some great builds there at that show!
taaron76 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 That's awesome, Joe! Those awards are a testament to your amazing attention to detail. Congrats! Well deserved!!! Tim
Stray Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) I still can't believe that is the colour of the plastic and you just clear coated it. My jaw is still dropped. AND... Massive congrats on the awards dude! She is definitely worth them, you did an awesome job. Edited April 27, 2015 by Stray
Harry P. Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Nicely done... very sharp and clean. The engine compartment looks great.
Monty Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Joe, please accept my sincere, if belated, congratulations on completing such a fantastic rebuild of that old Challenger kit. Between your IPMS award and 4 pages of compliments on here, the consensus indicates that you've earned the respect of your fellow modelers. One thing that impressed me during the WIP stage was you weren't afraid to implement other members' suggestions if you thought it would improve the overall build. OTOH, I doubt I was the only one who learned some neat techniques as you improvised improvements to the engine bay etc, refusing to settle for "good enough".
mustang1989 Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 Harry: Thanks a lot for the encouraging comments. (Told you I'd get around to building a car model here. lol) Monty: Man I really appreciate your comments. Believe me I learned more watching all of you folks here than you learned from me I'll tell you that. I do thank you for your encouragement along the way as well.
Dragline Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Beautiful. It's funny what 30 years of perspective and skill building can do. Bob
mustang1989 Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 Charlie and Gene: Thanks a mil guys! Bob: Thank you! It is funny indeed! I still sit back and surprise myself.....a lot, but always remember where I came from.
