MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. Fool me once shame on you, fool me - you can't get fooled again.
  2. "Vehicle" was the only national hit by Chicago's The Ides of March, although they charted several other times in the local Midwestern markets.
  3. Martinets could also be short martinis, which I could use a couple of after dealing with some of my martinet employers.
  4. Oh d@mn it. I'll miss him big time - he was always a good guy to me. He was also a member of the Warbird Information Exchange (WIX) forum; I'll post there for him.
  5. Hiding in plain sight in Baldwin Park, CA: I'd bet a dollar that this house at Baldwin Park Boulevard and Shadylawn was a gas station once upon a time: Redfin says it was built in 1952 but it looks older. EDIT: Checked Historic Aerials and the 1948 shot shows vacant land, while the 1952 shot seems to show it under construction. Next available is 1964 and it looks residential with trees, so... guess I need a time machine to know for sure.
  6. Trigger was the name of Roy Rogers' horse, and Nellybelle was the name of his Jeep.
  7. Finished around field, so I put the tractor back in the barn.
  8. Hinds move when dancers are twerking.
  9. ^^^ There were alternate lyrics to that one as well. Way back in 1984, the song's co-writer Dr. Don Altfeld came into my print shop (on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena!) to get some publicity material printed. He was trying to sell Ford on the idea of using it for commercials, and told me he'd rewritten it thusly: "But there in her garage where the kids all hang Is a brand new shiny red Ford Mustang" I recall the local paper had some mention of the idea, but that's about as far as it got.
  10. Tank McNamara was one of my favorite comic strips.
  11. I don 't get down to Rancho Mirage much, but since I had to take my housemate to Eisenhower Med Center I hit Hobby Lobby and picked up the '36 Wild One (Chevy) Modified for 40% off. Might put a different body on it (Willys or '36 Ford 5-window?).
