MCM Ohana

MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. Nice idea, looks sturdy. Where did the case come from? I could use something like that.
  2. I forget exactly what it ended up as. The only decent parts were the chassis and vin plate. It may have been a desirable production serial number car.
  3. I still run across end mills, slitting saws, many many drills that I have salvaged over the years. I sold a bunch of high-end carbide cutters to a couple of shops some years ago.
  4. 3DSCALEPARTS Is good if you can wait for something. Another on eBay is Juan4you.
  5. This car was just a partial body and chassis, bent and rusty. All the good stuff was long gone.
  6. Chicken fricassee Spanish style. Easy to make and one pot, made yellow rice on the side. I used 5 drumsticks, 4 big Perdue thighs cut in half. Skin on... part of what makes the sauce. 6 to 8 cloves of garlic, pressed. A medium onion chopped, red and orange bell peppers chopped, couple of minced jalapeƱos. Capers, not too many. Half a jar of green olives, a bay leaf. I really don't measure anything. I'll wash the chicken, cut off any big pieces of fat. I season that with Adobo, oregano and basil. I added some fresh cilantro at the last minute. No added salt since the capers and olives are salty. I add black pepper. Then EVERYTHING goes into a gallon ziploc bag, store overnight in the fridge. I use an 8 quart Farberware pot, coat the bottom with olive oil, put everything from the bag in the pot. Add one small can of tomato sauce. Cook on medium heat, do not let it burn or stick to the bottom of the pot. I turn it down after about 15 to 20 minutes. Total cooking time is 50 minutes to an hour. One day I will show you guys how to make perfect white rice.
  7. Once you turn 65, every doctor asks: Have you fallen in the past year? Of course I lie like a rug.... I'm nursing a knee injury right now, I'll be going slow today and will ice it up. Raining here, a good excuse to do some model work and curl up with the cat. I have been on a tear with yard, garden and pool work. Feel better!
  8. I tend to use TS-13 or TS-65 with strictly Tamiya sprays. I have used it over Duplicolor and it was fine.
  9. I had seen an R code '64 for sale om eBay... it was the most clapped our rusted hulk you could imagine. But... it went for crazy money, like around $7000. I guess it was good for the vin number and a few other things. There wasn't much R left in it.
  10. I have one of those kits I picked up last year. I did build the annual one as a kid. You did a lot of great work, wow. This is one kit that deserves 100% new tooling, like the AMT '66 Riviera. I would imagine that a lot of those parts would work on this kit.
  11. I have my drills sorted close o what you are doing. I have one big number drill index, rarely use it. I use mainly old end mill tubes and have them sorted like .025 to .060. .060 to .120 and so on. I rarely use anything over .120 unless I'm outside on the mill. I bought one chinese made index set, real small drills, but it is very hard to open without spilling the contents.
  12. I can live with a little less detail if the parts are ultra crisp and clean. Sometimes there is TOO much detail and the parts are quite fragile. I will definitely check out your SM420. It should be interesting like everything else you make. The tandem 305 V6 is next level for sure.
  13. I'm liking it, I never pass up a cheap NASCAR kit, they have so many good things in them that are useful.
