  1. Not up here, Wiarton Willie saw no shadow (snowing too hard). So we'll only have a month and a half more winter, followed by another month of not quite spring yet. Carl
  2. Sharp paint job, Jim. That is a very nice model. Carl
  3. When we built our house several years ago I claimed a room at one end of the basement as my model room. This is where I build, store and display my models. I started out by building a 12 x 8 foot display table like a model train board. This worked well for my truck models but didn't work for my dioramas. It is now filled to overflowing so the models expanded into other parts of the basement. The first display case i bought was a 100 gal aquarium. This works well but is very heavy. I have it on an industrial stand with wheels under it. There is an extension on the lid to accommodate the over height hydro pole. Everything has to be added from the top down which is a pain when working on the lower tier. Many years ago a local jewellery store closed and I bought one of their display cases. It is a single level 5’unit. I have a couple dioramas in it I later bought a couple more jewellery store cases. Since my wife passed away a little over a year ago I have migrated these cases for my models to the main floor of the house. They are both mounted on casters and easy to roll about. Occasionally I take some of them to construction shows in the area. These two cases are the ones that have some of my more treasured models and dioramas. Some of the rest of my dios are hanging on shelves in the model room Or appear on this photo diorama which is a backdrop for many of my work in progress models that you may have seen in the past Out in my garage are a pair of freebie cabinets that I use to keep many of my diecasts and a few models And I’m still short of display space. Carl
  4. Thanks for the kind words guys. I too am always on the lookout for 1/24-1/25 scale construction models. I've managed to snag several diecast dozers and loaders. But kits are few and far between. Maybe the release of the Heller Ferguson tractor kit will encourage companies to produce more industrial type models Carl
  5. Good looking tractor, Chuck. I just picked up a pair of them. I haven't started them yet. From what I can see they should build into excellent models. It needs some attachment. I'm thinking a two furrow plough or a siccle bar mower. as possible three point scratch builds. Carl
  6. This is another one of my toy conversions. The roller was made by Reliable Toys Toronto in the 1960's. I found this one at the Milton Steam show and it followed me home. It is made of polyethylene or polypropylene so it is kind of rubbery and hard to glue. These are the before pics The float head mill is a 1/25th scale model and is there for scale reference only. It looks very much like a Buffalo -Springfield or an earlier Buffalo - Pitts roller I stripped the toy down painted it up and added some details like steering and flywheels and flyballs. The driver was molded into the toy so I just painted him a bit. These are the after pics It makes for a decent yard model. From a yard away it looks OK. Up close not so much. It was another change of pace model. Its probably time I got into something a bit more main stream. Thanks for looking Carl
  7. These are pictures of a quad-six that was a standby power unit for the Oshawa water works. It was connected directly to an emergency water pump.
  8. Thanks Guys for all the kind words. I enjoy building these sort of projects. Besides being a bit of a challenge and a change of pace, they are a good way to reduce inventory in the parts box. Carl
  9. This is the conversion of a Revell toy Cat Grader into a Scale model. Revell had a series of plastic Cat toys back in the 50's. This grader was probably 1/27th scale bit its close enough to pass as a 1/25. It is actually a bit of a No.10 and No.11 Cat Auto Patrol grader. Not strictly accurate but close enough for me. This is what I started with This is what the conversion looks like The rear wheels and tires are from a Hot Wheels monster truck. The transaxle is a modified part of the Hot Wheels chassis. The front tires are from a Paystar kit. The jack shafts, front axle, cab and controls are all scratch built. I made my own decals using MS word and Testors decal paper. Eric the operator is a modified resin figure from the world of G-scale trains. I'm not sure of his ancestry. Some time in the future I may build a roadbed diorama for it. Thanks for looking Carl
  10. Thanks Guys. Don Mills was the name I was trying to remember. That's one of his that I used in the diorama above. Carl
  11. Great job of building the D7. I wish e that they would build this kit in 1/24 or 1/25th scale for all of us non military modelers Carl
  12. Years ago someone cast a white metal generator. I don't remember where I got it or who did it but there are/were some out there. It may possibly been a Don McClean model Carl
  13. Great job of weathering and detailing on this model, Dave. Carl
  14. Pat, There is not a lot of 1/25th 1/24th scale agricultural stuff available. Ertl produced a few diecast combines. Someone produced a plastic diecast version of a 1/25th scale Allis Chalmers D14 tractor awhile back but it is extremely rare. One site you might check out is Buffalo Road imports. They list a bunch of various diecasts in various scales. http://www.constructionscalemodels.com/en/. Carl
  15. Other than an oatmeal coloured Grand Cherokee, that the price was very right on, everry vehicle that I have owned has been red, green. blue or purple including these two. I hate blah coloured vehicles. I can't figure out why anyone would drive one in an Ontario winter. Carl
  16. I think it was in the 70 street custom kit. I have one in still sealed in a Walmart 4 pack . I was told it had a DOHC hemi but I can't verify that. Carl
  17. I would think that the best vehicle from the year of my birth would be a Dodge Power Wagon. Its sort of like me...solid, reliable and not too fast There was not a lot of choice back in 46 Carl
  18. I've seen both white and black interiors with Plum crazy, but I prefer black. That's the colour of both my 1:1 Challengers. However I think that white striping looks best on purple cars. Carl
  19. I have a few kits in the stash that might qualify as rare or at least as scarce. top of the list is a 1971 Dodge Challenger by PMS ( a Palmer kit ) The box says its a 440 Six Pack but the kit has a Hemi in it. 1970 Plymouth Barracuda by MPC molded in bug juice green plastic 1970 Dodge Challenger by MPC molded in purple plastic 1969 Pontiac Firebird by MPC comes with Chrysler turbine engine and clear hood Carl
  20. Pat At onetime the Marx toy company made a 1/25th scale promo bank of the International tanker. The attach pic is one that I converted to Supertest livery. The model is injection molded plastic so it is easier to work with than diecast, Carl
  21. Thanks Guys for all the interest. This build went together rather easily, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. I found some larger rubber in the parts box. I think it looks better that way. I'm glad that some of you may get the erg to do something with the racers wedge kit. I wasn't impressed with it as an add on to a pickup chassis. The 68 Cuda is a resto of an old MPC glue bomb with parts from the 69 repop. It is a tribute to my first new car, complete with the Craiger SS mags and 383 4 gear. Carl
  22. This project is a bit of a kit bash of some parts kits that I had in m stash. I used a Revell race car trailer and the AMT racers wedge kit to form a 2 car 5th wheel trailer. I sectioned the trailer frame on either side of the axles and mounted it under the wedge. I then reattached the beaver tail to the front of the trailer frame and mounted it on the top of the wedge, The upper ramps are from a Gallaxi trailer kit. I added wood trips to fill in the upper deck. The pull truck is temporary as I;m converting a Monogram F350 to a flat deck. once its completed I'll install the hitch at the propper hight. and with a cargo... 68 Cuda and a 70 Challenger SE Thanks for looking
  23. Parts that have been carefully dry fitted will alter their dimensions as soon as glue is applied. Carl
