  1. Aaaahhh.............that black is soooooo nice and smmmoooooth! Not so easy to do let alone on a 1/43 scale model......... Beautiful job as usual Alex! 1/43's are neat for blowing out the cobwebs!
  2. Here's the story in the link below........... R.I.P. Pontiac
  3. Check eBay Motors from time to time also. Expensive cars like that are often "on the lift" to give potential customers a looksee underneath. Especially if they look good on the underside, the seller wants folks to see everything. A good idea as that's the only thing you've got to go on short of being in person are good pics.
  4. Well they are killing Saturn (as of '12).............Best service in the world as I own a Saturn Ion Coupe. Although I did spend a pretty penny just today for preventative maintenance. Pontiac going away is just a cryin' shame! First "fun" car I really owned was a '69 LeMans after the boring '69 Dodge Dart which was the first car I ever owned. GM was supposed to turn Pontiac into some sort of niche brand with RWD cars only........what's going to become of the G8, Solstice, and the rumored rear drive platform of the next G6? They all seem to be fading away one by one..................
  5. No, not really. I had put the '55 Ford on the back burner a while back due to a door problem. I've since gotten that fixed, but I've gotten lazy and cheap and need to send the chrome out to be replated. I'm squeamish about sending models with others or "in the mail"...........too much paranoia perhaps........ The Cougar is a couple months from being done right now..................I do have another project in mind after the Cougar, but I'm torn between two actually. Hmmmm..................maybe I'll do a poll to let the board help me decide down the road.
  6. Wow! That red is eye searing! Excellent Ferrari Jeff! I had the same problem many years ago with Fujimi's Ferrari Daytona. I remember having to shave down the wheel hubs as the wire wheels stuck out too far. Weird because the five spoke "star" wheels didn't do that (different offsets?) but I wanted the wires badly as they're very nice.
  7. Aaahhh! I just love a well done 1/43 scale! That is absolutely gorgeous Alex, as is the other two you built! .........................And they don't take up so much room to boot!
  8. Jairus, I'm afraid the GSL is a no go for me this time around. I won't have enough vacation days to use then (I'd need Friday and Monday). Word has it that the job is about to take away one week of vacation starting next fiscal year (October for us) for anyone with more than two weeks vacation. That drops me back to the vacation time I had just 2 years ago which really puts a crimp on any significant traveling anywhere to boot. It's just a rumor they say but in these times, I don't discount anything.
  9. Now THIS is what I want! If a hard and soft top is included.......all the better!
  10. Down the road, I'm going to do a "follow up/part II" on doing hinges with the leading edge of the door that turns into the trailing edge of the front fender. Along with making door jambs/door interior panels realistic looking------kinda like the last article. Most cars today (since the mid '60's are so) have doors that operate on swivel hinges BTW. And you'll be able to do it without special tools or parts. Work and now house repairs are preventing me from getting much writing/model building done lately.
  11. Hmmm.............'cuz they don't fit inside a model case too well like that? In an article I wrote for the November '08 issue of Model Cars on hinging and opening doors, I made a point about how doors should open on cars of certain eras. Research, research, research, is the key to getting doors to open and operate correctly------and look correct when doing so. A bit of practice and patience helps too.
  12. WOW!! LOVE the Corvair! And that Deora transporter is too cool!!
  13. IIRC, that car represents a 1991. Not too often seen these days anymore.............the kit and the 1:1.
  14. Wow Ernie! Those are some great links! They'll come in mighty handy for us replica stock guys! The brochures particularly are interesting, especially the late '50's early '60's ones from GM. Gotta love the mix of art and actual pics used!
  15. Add pointed front fenders, an "M" on the hood, and then some rear tailfins-------and you've got the Mach 5! Even in the '60's the Japanese were head over heels for Ferraris.........no doubt the original creator of Speed Racer was a Ferrari Testarossa fan.
  16. Another one of my favorite racers of the '50's! Lookin' mighty sharp Curt! The decals look like VRM? I know they sell plain white meatballs and such.
  17. Seems as though a '67-'68 Mustang chassis would be a close match if not exact for that. Remember that the Maverick was a replacement for the Falcon. Since the Falcon and Mustangs were close cousins floorpan wise, the Maverick shouldn't be too far off. Or maybe I'm really out in left field! :P
  18. Why oh why are there no plastic kits of these??? I don't buy the line that there's no market for 'em...........
  19. Hoo boy! You can bet that costs a pretty penny when done! I got a 1/24 '57 Aston Martin DBR1 courtesy of George53 that needs restored. On my hard disc I've got a bunch of detailed photos of that car. Pics of the engine, interior, etc, for possible use when I can get enough ambition to do a detailed model of it sometime.
  20. Beautiful paint on that Jon! What shade/brand of blue is that? I've got the old IMC kit that's untouched, but always wondered what type of blue would have been used.
  21. Harry, do you have any more pics of this car? What scale is it? It's too nice just to have one shot! Something about the wheels was a giveaway-----------and the glass was amiss too it seems.
  22. Hey that coupe is kinda neat looking! Change the front end a bit and it's not bad at all! Gotta love this pic from Wikipedia................. The lady in the white dress is saying to the other..........."I'm not driving that ugly thing! How 'bout you?" In French of course!
