ChrisBcritter
Rambler Marlin, most likely.
OldTrucker
The looks to be the chassis from the Rebel Machine from Johan!
THarrison351
I think your both correct.

The following pic came from a blog about a Jo-Han Rebel buildup: I didn't know the Rebel kit had single exhaust, either.

Don Sikora II
Based on the plastic color it’s probably from a USA Oldies ‘66 Marlin. The same basic chassis with wheelbase changes was used in Jo-Han Ambassadors and Rebels too.
gman
I can agree. The torque tube rear end is a give-away to its 60's AMC origins.
disabled modeler
Might be a Johan 69 AMX kit chassis..???
W-409
Yes, as some guys already said, it is from Jo-Han '66 AMC Marlin. I checked with my other Jo-Han AMC kits, and it can't be from AMC Javelin or AMX.
Greg Myers
reminds me of the cheezy "promo style" chassis AMT has given us all these years in their otherwise great '66 Mustang kit.
Ace-Garageguy
A big thanks from me to the OP; prior to this, I did not know that some AMC platforms were still using torque-tube drivelines well into the '60s. I have relatively little hands-on experience with anything AMC, and this new piece of info is fascinating. Now, down the internet rabbit-hole to get the rest of the story. Like I've said a bazillion times before, one of the things I like best about model cars is the opportunity to learn more about real ones. dimaxion
The torque tube type rear axle is what was under my '70 Javelin SST IIRC . It was my only car I owned without Hotchiss driveline . This could be a Promo Classic , Ambassador Chassis . Thanx ..
Mark
That piece is correct for the Marlin (and other '63-'66 Ramblers). The 1:1 '67-up larger cars (Rebel, Ambassador) ditched the torque tube. Jo-Han did tool a correct chassis for some of the promotional models (the rest used a flat chassis plate with no detail at all). Why they didn't update the kits with the improved chassis is a mystery. They did the same (updated promos but not kits) with the '69-'70 GTX also.
