cobraman
Saw the photo below and thought it would be a cool build . I am collecting the parts I need to try to build this . Note : I said try . It will be a curbside , no engine or chassis detail . The engine and wheels and tires will be used on my upcoming Shelby Falcon build . Not tying to be exact but get the flavor of it . Wish me luck ! gasser59
Even as a curbside, this will be good Ray and I'm sure you'll do it justice.
Gramps46
I have no doubt you can pull this off. Do you have any background on this car. I am guessing it is a fiberglass body on a tube frame.
cobraman
It was a fiberglass body and was sold for 18,500 I believe . Did some work on it . Got the body holes I don’t need either filled or plugged . Made the rear spoiler out of sheet plastic . Tires and wheels are from a die cast funny car . 1320wayne
Maybe these pics can be of some help to you with ideas if you don't already know which direction your going in. I created this build a few years back.
cobraman
Very nice Wayne and much more detailed than I plan on doing.

cobraman
Thanks Ron. Having an issue getting those huge slicks under that body. Bottom of this car will not be pretty.
Ralph Henderson
cool project. in the 70's, one of the drag kit car manufacturers, that specialized in "econo-altered" cars, created a cobra body for their altered frames so the cars could run in "heads-up" door slammer classes like Super/Gas, and I can't find ANY mention of them anywhere. they were a lot like the blue one you referenced above, driver seated left, lengthened wheelbase at the cowl to match the frame, and the cockpit was a little bit forward to clear the taller tires and suspension. I think it was "Brodie" race cars, but they don't seem to exist anymore. At the time I really wanted to build a real one. I think the bare frame and body was only around 10 grand. but alas, I was about 30 grand short.. haha. Great project, I'll be watching... cobraman
Thanks Ralph. I really should tuck those huge slicks in more but if I do it will look like one big slick from the rear !
Fish_65
Cool project Ray ! Are you gonna extend the front-end like the 1:1 is ?
Dann Tier
Looking forward to this, bud!!, its gonna be a BEAST!!!!!!
cobraman
Thanks guys. I will not attempt to extend the front that is one reason I say I'm not trying to make an exact replica. A man has to know his limitations.
cobraman
Got some color on the body . Stripes will be next . The decals look like they yellowed so I will probably have to paint them on .

cobraman
As it turned out the decals in this kit were not very good . I decided I had better mask and spray . So I did !
shoopdog
Stripes turned really well.

cobraman
While this is not shaping up to look a lot like the car I used for inspiration I am still happy with it . Never my intention to make a replica but just a model along the same lines . Now if I can fight off the final assembly gremlins that get me from time to time it may turn out pretty good .
