JollySipper
Hey, fellas! So I've been working on this for a couple days...... It's the Revell '50 F1 that everyone knows so well. Going with a tail-draggin' stance and a few mild custom touches..... Wheels from the '58 Vette and I think the tires are from the '60 Starliner.... still need to attend to the mold seams and attachment points on the body parts..... Not sure on the color, but I do want to use the scallop decals that this kit comes with..... The basis of the engine is done..... Comments are more than welcome, Thanks..... Hotrod 97
Looks like a great start, TJ! I’m looking forward to seeing what paint color you choose for it.

JollySipper
Thanks, fellas.... I'm thinking of putting lakes pipes along the bed..... I would love to paint this in MetalCast purple, give it a "candy" look........
JollySipper
I built a small box to bring the buckets up some....... seats from an '09 Challenger..... I'm gonna try to use the Challenger's door panels also....
JollySipper
I've removed the mold seams..... there were a bunch on the cab and hood. Also working on smoothing some stuff out..........

Tom Geiger
Cool. I'm finishing up my 50 pickup this week! Glad to see you filled in the door handles... fiddly little bits!
JollySipper
Cool, Thanks guys! I'm trying out the idea of working the taillight pods from a '57 Del Rio into the rear fenders..... I think it's gonna look pretty good.
TarheelRick
Really like where you are going with this build. Not sure about the taillights, they seem to overpower those rear fenders.
Tom Geiger
If you can mold them in so they look like they belong there, that would be cool. It's still all Ford then! I'll grant you one free do-over! I have a few parts kits so if you screw up the fenders, I'd be happy to send you a replacement pair. The more I looked at the mock-up tho, the more I thought the taillights were too large. James Hetfield did the same treatment with this pickup, but the lights look much smaller on his. What do you guys think about maybe using these instead?
espo
I think the smaller tail lights might look better with the "Tail Dragger" theme you're going for. You don't want the tail lights to become the most outstanding styling feature. They would look good on a build that uses a few other later model Ford styling elements. With the bed railing exhaust system you were looking at the smaller tail lights would work better also.
Plowboy
How about the tail lights from the Revell '49 Mercury (I think they're '50 Pontiacs) flush mounted into the fenders? A set of tail lights from the '61 Ranchero may also work. You might could blend part of the quarters in also. Keep at it. You'll find something you like. As soon as I get some primer, I can begin to make some real progress.......
Plowboy
^^^ That'll work! With the tail dragger stance, I'm wondering what it would look like with skirts on the rear? Normally, I would say "no way!!". But, this may be the exception.
JollySipper
Roger and I had the same idea for skirts........ he was cool enough to make a pair and send them to me..... best forum!
