I built the MPC '77 Monza as the '76 Buick Skyhawk I drove in the early '80s. Started the model in the mid-'80s, finally got around to finishing it up last year.

Well...don't know how to tell you this, but...

"Monza Mouse" just doesn't sound very aggressive or terrifying...

The mouse motor became a hot rod term for a small block Chevy V8, while the big block Chevy was often called the rat motor.

Oh! I must admit I didn't know that (obviously).

What's really dumb is I knew the "Rat" moniker, but never have encountered the "Mouse" name! Makes a bit more sense now...

Thanks, man!

This '79 Spyder in Firethorn is a replica of one of the Cargo Units I delivered from the Lordstown , Oh , GMAD .  It was one of the few that started with the Key without the CAR HAULER EMERGENCY quicko chango Fuse swap due to a Factory Defect . MPC Kit , Auto Touch Up Airbrushed .   Possibly Fred Kady Decals ? Thanx ..

The nicknames are kind of dumb.  The Hemi has been referred to as the elephant motor, and elephants are supposedly afraid of mice.  But you never hear of a small-block Chevy beating a Hemi!

Not since Logghe, Steffey and Rupp...that was one bad small block.
