Koellefornia Kid Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Hi, guys, here´s my first finished model car of 2020: The ProTourino It´s based on Jo-Han´s ´72 Ford Torino oval track racer kit and was kit bashed with parts from Revell´s Super Stallion Mustang. I modified the Super Stallion interior to fit the Torino body and used its rear axle, front part of the chassis along with the engine bay and the 5.3 litre engine. Additional parts include Steve Zimmerman wheels, scratch built tail light lenses and exhaust tips and a MCG steering wheel. Hope you like it, comments welcome!
DumpyDan Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Really nice, engine compartment looks so nice. Awesome build.
Geno Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Oliver, that is an exceptional build, my favorite year Torino.
Plowboy Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 That's a cool looking Torino! Looks like the Mustang interior fit it pretty well. Really like the wheels!
Claude Thibodeau Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Hi! Great mash-up! The defunct "Fast Mustangs & Fords" magazine featured a 1/1 satin black 72 Torino that looked a bit like yours, years ago. You nailed it! Bravo! CT
espo Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 I like the way you got the interior and engine to fit the body, looks almost OEM. I always liked the grill area on this model of Torino.
geetee66 Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Looks fast standing still! Gorgeous looking car and you nailed it with those tasty wheels! I'll have to check out Steve Zimmerman. Thanks for the tip.
Koellefornia Kid Posted February 9, 2020 Author Posted February 9, 2020 Thanks, fellas! Really appreciate your kind words! 23 hours ago, espo said: I always liked the grill area on this model of Torino. Yeah, me too! I think the ´72 is the most beautiful Torino ever! I think I remember the satin black one you mentioned, wasn't it a formal roof? My build was inspired by another Torino that was featured in the magazine: It wasn't supposed to be a copy but I thought it was the perfect kit to use the wheels and the Super Stallion engine...
thatz4u Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 72 was my favorite Torino also, very well done

You are perfectly right it WAS a "formal roof", not a fastback like yours. However, whatever the type, these 72 Torinos are rare and far in between. That's why I mentionned the magazine car. Besides, I had a 72 Ranchero in the mid 70's. So, I have a soft spot for these cars... CT
slusher Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Great build and nice touch on the Super Stallion engine and interior!!

Too bad I didn't win the auction, it surely would be a nice one to have in the showcase...
