Custom 33 Ford 3 Window coupe

So I’m going to attempt to not smash this one out and take some careful time getting this one right, as you may know about me, I find a pic on the internet and try my best to make as representable account of it in 1/25 scale, usually with my own little twist.

So this one is kind of different.

my Friend Matt Murray (Iron trap garage on YouTube) has a 33 3 window, he has just started to work on it and it is in its rawest form, I’m going to try to replicate this car in it’s finished state. So I’ll be looking into the future a little and maybe adding my own twist to the final result.

So here are a couple of pics of his car, and the pile of plastic I’ll be starting with.

I may be overstepping my skills, but hell I’m up for the challenge!

That may not happen unless I find them for-sale in Canada, I’m still waiting on a parcel from Montana that was mailed on Dec 8th.

still shows in transit

Yup...a S.C.o.T.-blown Ardun-Ford in a '33 3-window...most definitely my kinda car.

NOTE: This Revell kit has a very good Ardun. No S.C.o.T. blower, but it's a start.

Revell 1/25 '50 Ford Pickup 2 'n 1 Plastic Model Kit 85 ...

The ancient AMT '57 Chevy has a sorta S.C.o.T blower too...

I’m hoping To source one of those this weekend!

Unless you are in Canada I’m afraid that may not be helpful!

Did some required surgery, things are starting to align I’m happy and the body work will continue, still on the hunt for an amt 34 frame to put under this, I don’t think the snapper frame is correct enough for my liking.

I had removed the roof from the 3 window in hopes of fitting it to the other body, but I realized the door lines didn’t line up, (yes I could have scribed new ones) I’m trying to not let this get ahead of my skills too far so that it doesn’t end up as an unfinished build!

That’s called growth and it can be lots of fun in this hobby. And this one looks like fun to watch too.?

Admirable effort! Been down this road myself... not an easy process, is it?

Keep going and be sure that there will be a few of us that will be watching over your shoulder, Brother! -KK

Thank you, I think my biggest challenge right now will be the frame, all I have to start with is the snapper frame, I could not locate locally a full kit, so there will be some doubting moments

Not to interrupt your progress on this project, but if you'd like to have a "full" kit, I might be able to help! -KK

Agreed- OP's inspiration has been started with excellent raw materials. and RMCoM's resins will be an equally excellent foundation. Some of the finest scale resin hot rod parts you can hope for.

If the Ardun in Monogram/Revell's 1950 Ford is the desired way to go, the model with the yellow build up on the box top has the redesigned Ardun parts, a much better choice than the other issues.

That would be greatly appreciated, but unless you are in Canada I don’t think that would be an affordable option. And considering shipping from the us right now is darn near the price of a new kit locally, and delays of up to 30-45 days sigh

Offer stands, Brother!  If it's parts you need, I might be able to mail you what you're needing!?. -KK

Realistically all I need is the frame as most of the rest of the parts will change and/or be modified. But that being said, the rad/and grille could be useful.

Some progress today, mocked up the snapper frame rails/floor pan and did some trimming with my dremel,

dug out a 31 for frame and trimmed some pieces to add to the rails.

roughly fabricated some engine mounts so that I can place a mock up engine in the rails, help keep everything in line.

I will be using the front suspension from an amt 41 woody that I got as a trashy rebuilder, the x brace and rear from that kit will work as well.

I’ll  hopefully use the quick change from the 25t as well

Interesting approach to adding a firewall and removed hood to that body. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

And pretty neat that you’re friends with Iron Trap. That’s a really neat project he’s started!

Dennis, Matt and I have history in the vw world, when he switched over to hot rods, I stayed true to my roots, but after binge watching his channel while I was on med leave, I decided to emulate his passion for old steel, but in plastic form.

And I’ve always had a thing for the 32 and 33 fords.

Being that this was the first time I’ve attempted slicing and joining bodies, I guess I took the hard way instead of the easy way. Well we will see how it works out.
