jmpsebring Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I have, quite a few times. Opening a box to see a brand new model never released before. Even down to the tree's themselves. Looking for flaws, what they got right, what they got wrong. How parts are attached to the tree, etc. When I wake up ...some time later, I amazed how detailed the images were. I guess 40+ years of building will do things to your head.
JamesW Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 That's why you're not supposed to sniff the glue. LOL
Erik Smith Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 This is funny. Mine usually involve finding a shelf at the LHS or a new shop I've never noticed and finding all sorts of kits never made. The problem is, when I try to go through them, I can't keep track and things change and eventually all I see are regular models. Then I frantically look around and can't find any of the "never before" kits.
Romell R Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 When I have had dreams of models its more instructional than anything eles, i've dreamed of how to scratch build a part and when I get up , I have what I need to fabricate that part I dreamed of.
charlie8575 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I've actually had similar dreams. Mostly where i'm in a hobby shop and there it is... on the shelf... ...I can't believe it! They finally came out with a 1978 Dodge MAGNUM! I'm elated! Then I get to the checkout counter with a half dozen of them...and I wake up! I have similar recurring dreams with Ford Country Squires, 1977-90 full-size Chevys, and 1949-'52 Chrysler products. Mostly, though, I dream of having my own manufacturing company. I'm slowly working on making that a reality. Charlie Larkin
JMChladek Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I've had a couple dreams like that, but usually they are of me finding a brand new kit of some sort and usually the dream ends when I open the box. So I don't really have a chance to inspect the contents.
SuperStockAndy Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Well, I had a dream I met Dr. Cranky and Don Yost, it was another one of those weird dreams again.

Sure wouldn't mind having your dreams Romell...! What do you have for a night-cap before bed? Any particular drink? Food? Lol! Cheers
JunkPile Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I also have had a few dreams that involved models. Not all of them were of the boxed variety
espo Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 If I have a hard time going to sleep at night I will lie in bed and think about the model I'm working on and the things I want to do to personlize it. Sometimes it will help me go to sleep, and sometimes it helps me to over come some problem I'm having with the build at the time.
Mr. Moparman Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I remember a dream I had one night that I went into my LHS and he told me I could have whatever I wanted free! I was just about to walk out the door with 3 buggies full of kits and them my mom came and woke me up....
heatride Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Well, I had a dream I met Dr. Cranky and Don Yost, it was another one of those weird dreams again. I would call that a nightmare
Junkman Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 The other night I dreamt Heller had released a Citroen H van. It looked so real, honestly, warped and twisted and sink marks and it was moulded in a hideous toothache green.
Danny Lectro Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I belong to a sci-fi modeling forum where this subject comes up at least a couple times a year. I always get a dream where I find a hobby shop with kits of every subject I ever wanted to build. I'll walk out of the store to get cash, or to tell a friend. When I go back, the store I was just in is nowhere to be found. The one time I dreamed that I actually managed to get some models from the disappearing hobby shop, the dream ended with my friend and I being hunted by ninjas and demons.
Scott Colmer Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 At least I'm not the only one. I sometimes dream of coming across a stash of old kits. They may be in a hobby shop, someones house, or even in the street.
Terry Sumner Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I can't recall any dreams. But I know one that would be cool.... having all the Victorias Secret Angels turn out to be car modelers and asking you to help them with their, ahem, models!
robertw Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Christian, that Citroen truck would truly be a nightmare that could wake you up in a cold sweat...........but after second thought it's just ugly enough to be an interesting build. LOL rob

LOL rob That thing has total cult status throughout Europe. Talk about roach coaches, there isn't a man walking over here that hasn't eaten something from one of these once in life. Whoever releases a model kit of it will be rich. Very, very rich.
Junkman Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) Well, dreaming is still legal, no? Edited March 8, 2012 by Junkman
charlie8575 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I like your dreams very, very much, Christian. Charlie Larkin
Ramfins59 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Christian... You really had me going there for a moment when I saw the Delahaye... I would absolutely LOVE TO FIND A KIT OF A DELAHAYE... IMHO it is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Talk about an Art-Deco look to die for... I've searched around but have never, ever found anyone who has made a model kit of it.

This is the closest you can get: And no, this is not a dream. It does exist.
