  1. Too bad about the Belle, I heard they lost the He111 a couple years ago...sad loss
  2. Fyi: Toyota has an actual "muffler bearing", it's really a rubber donut that holds the tailpipe up.
  3. Since no one has mentioned it yet... Be sure to have the alignment of the "free floating pinion retainer" checked for proper runout otherwise huge repair bills will result in having you gas cap painted red. A good "smoke reducer" added to the fuel system will alleviate winter build up of flish.
  4. Oh great...now everyone is gonna have "Bic" tanks. Great start!
  5. I think the CAF still has the B17 "Sentimental Journey" airworthy, I know the painter that repainted the nose art that had been buffed too many times.
  6. by the way, the fuel inlet on the pontiac version of the quadrajet was in the center front of the carb along with a large vacuum line that went down to the valley cover in front(and below) the carb which is where GM put the PCV valve.
  7. I hate to say this but Joseph is correct, even though the casting of the details on this carb and intake manifold are a joke and seem like Revell made very little effort to make even a general representation of this carb/manifold. Here's a shot of a 400 I started for a Monogram 69 Judge a few years ago, it's got a couple Holley's on it but the primarys are located properly.
  8. I know carbs are seldom seen after a model is finished but I think the kit makers could make them look more real...they used to make them better. not picking on the builder here. By the way...your carb is on backwards...if it matters...
  9. I bet you can string them along for a bit... Tell them that you "buff them till they're shiny..."
  10. I think I'd like to see one of these produced: 1955 Plymouth Savoy, a Belvedere would work for me too.
  11. that chrome tree also looks like one of the rumored "badly chromed" run, you should see about requesting a full replacement chrome tree from Trumpeter. I got a 60 bonny off fleabay that already had the replacement "good chrome" in the box. If you strike out on wheels send me a PM, I wasn't planning on using the stock wheels on my project, my plans for the kit I have are to build a (phantom) '60 Sport Safari (Pontiac El Camino) so I'll be getting some 8-lug or mounting some Torq-Thrust2's.
  12. that's a great prize package. I suggest taking a photo of the trophy with the model that won you that trophy, easier to display on a wall or your faceborg account.
  13. If it cost the same to make to make an accurate kit as it does to make an inaccurate kit, I vote for accurate.
  14. I'd figure a way to offer wagon body options to some of the current classic releases. And I vote for a 49 Stude also in addition to a Plymouth Plaza or Royale.
  15. Just put a bolt head over that hole in the side of the carb, if anyone asks what it is tell them it's a fuel level access port.
  16. Great work on this, weathering and fabbing is great to follow. A tip regarding the engine, Olds engines have a hose going from that nipple in the middle of the driver side valve cover to the side of the air cleaner, it scavenges excess crankcase vapors.
  17. Nice color. All the coolant is gonna run out the water pump if ya don't remember yer bottom radiator hose.
  18. That new F-type has gone from the traditional "cat" look to looking like a badger...kinda sad.
  19. Butter...quite tasty and easy to cut, not really good structurally unless you keep it real cold. Plexi is your best bet, maybe you could have it cut for you where you buy it.
  20. Nice work. Should have changed out that 6volt battery for a 12volt...
  21. please...please...take my cats, and give them to Tom, he needs some luvin.
  22. Based on CadillacPat's post I might accuse him of being a designer/artist... I have to disagree with his post.... in most cases there is a machine/device that fills a desired function, IMHO the design aspect comes if the device "needs" to be pleasing to the eye also in order to sell. Other than that...it's an exercise in art that has mechanical functionality added. (these are my opinions...) A pelican or platypus is usually not considered "artistically beautiful" but they usually function well within their environment...swans ARE considered artistically beautiful and still function well within their environment, given a visual choice most people will choose a swan over the other two. personally, I like the lines of the classic E-type Jag...I find it "artistically beautiful", I find the new Dodge Chargers "brutishly handsome" but not as beautiful as the Challenger redo or the classic Jag. (again, these are my opinions)
  23. Do a google search for "El-Catalina" and you'll find the stillborn project that preceded the '66.
