My Dad could do anything....he was an acomplished artist and photographer. He could build anything from anything and he loved playing with cars (models, Motorific, slots, Aurora) and trains. (Lionel) What ever my Dad took an intrest in...it was all or nothing, and I was always by his side, passing him a paint brush or glue etc. My Dad was more of a replica stock sort of guy and displayed his work proudly. One day he noticed that his collection was thinning out hmmmm. Well I was busted....he found the beautiful built models he put so much love and work into capturing the essence of what a replica stock build should be but wait, whats this....mag wheels, side pipes, raised suspension, wide tires....and OMG....flames I thought my Dad was (this was the 60's now) was gonna whip my...you know what...but to my surprise my Dad said something to me I will never forget.....he said...."you little *******", then he laughed and said "have at it son"....I loved my Dad

Sad but Great news :)
BKIN10SECS replied to Railfreak78's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is fantastic news!!!! Best of luck in the new job. -
If you are talking about this one, yes it is a Corolla 1.8. I think this is a one off creation. I dont think the ever made this model in a two door, they did however make a 4 door version, so I'm pretty sure this model was scratchbuilt. If you notice the car has sort of a flair over the front wheels but not the back. You can still find the 4 door version on ebay.

If you talking slots, there is a new place right on SR 50 (Colonial), going towards the West Oaks Mall . Just after the Turnpike there is the Pottery Barn store (it would be on your left if you are comming down from Clermont), right next to it.... there is a Slot Car place. I'm sorry I dont know the name I know of it because I buy Pro-Track rims for my plastic models there. As soon as you turn into the parking lot it is right down the center, has a big traffic light in the window. They have two round de round tracks and one drag strip. Hope this helps

NICEEEEEEEEE......two questions if I may.....the seat and the tranny.....could you give a little more info on these sweet, sweet looking pieces Thanks -
Shuck...I've seen some of your posts and seen your work...You build a nice model pisan I really look forward to this build and the direction it is going. If you really think about it.....subject matter....I'm going old school....and you.....new school.....how cool is that

Hey Shuck.....what tires are those?
-
Hey Mike....the front and rear tires were given to me by my good buddy Dirk Joseph. The rears ....I'm not sure, the fronts I belive are Pegasus. Now it looks like you too have found the benefit of Pro Track rims . The black front rims I show in the pics....came with O rings, the silver ones had a wider lip which I turned down on the lathe and had the Pro Track foam tires. I removed the foam tires and then just took a little off the outside surface with the lathe to remove the glue and residue left by the foam tires. I like the route it seems that you are taking.... AWD drag monster maybe

Thanks for the comments, the chassis is still pretty rough, need to clean her up. I am currently machining the shocks. I am really sort of a curbside builder but this is going to be my first serious attempt at a super detailed (for me anyways) build. Still haven't decieded on an engine, it will be turbo of course either Skyline or 13b. After seeing Shuckys 13b I am swaying towards that motor, you did an awsome job on that motor bro!!! (and size wise will work better). The rims are slot car rims...Pro-Track, if you go to Ebay or if you have a slot car track in your area that carries accessories you will find them. They are the perfect size for the small imports. Thanks again

Hello everyone, just wanted to post some pics of my latest project since my green 510 (built it about 10 years ago) that was posted earlier in this topic. It is a 1970 Toyota Corolla, it is my first attempt of a full scratchbuilt brass tube chassis...not perfect by any means just my first attempt. Thanks ...let me know what you guys think

Mike if I may....the block, did you make it where it is possible to secure it from the top and the bottom for machining? Also could you go a little bit more into the annealing process.... such as how hot does the brass have to be, do you need to cool the metal, if not, when it comes time to form the brass, how do you go about handling the hot metal to form such items as a wheel tub? Any info greatly appreciated. I really enjoy this post;) Thanks -
You know when I saw the post on the 40 Ford the first thing that came to mind was that the body style look like that green and black 33 that guy did.......I was right....you build a nice car brother.
