Thanks, Greg, It's a pretty cool kit. The only reason I didn't buy more on my last trip to Ollie's was because she-who-must-be-obeyed was with me. πͺ. They had dozens. It was a very difficult situation.

I dunno, Paul, I'm kinda partial to '41 Plymouths......π€£

Derrick, you may want to check the angle of the chassis and the angle of the body bottom. It looks awkward. Notching the firewall at the frame rails should help get the body more in tune with the frame. The coil-overs are awesome.

I painted the other body on Sunday (the original is still languishing in the purple lagoon) and I think the project is cursed. It will need color sanding to smooth out what looks like an impact boo boo. I must have bumped it while moving it around shortly after it was sprayed. π© In addition, the seams where the fenders mate with the body wouldn't take paint. An airbrush would have been better for that but, since I will be color sanding, I sprayed some paint into the cap and grabbed a fine liner and proceeded to remedy the situation. Better but I will continue the process. Here's the mock-up ππ€ Thanks for sticking around π₯΄

The deviant Del Rey got some primer during half-time on Sunday. Gray primer really shows off the bad stuff. Today I just slapped some Mr. Surfaces all over it to fill all those little faults. There will be much tedium experienced in order to get it smoothed out but this is what it looks like now. It takes a minimum of 24 hours for the surface to be ready to sand. Back burner time for this one. Thanks for checking.

Very cool, Steve. I'm following. A flattie with three 97s wearing snorkels. The dark blue idea sounds good. Arctic blue, maybe?

Oh boy. Nothing but decaf for 24 hours prior. π§

Glad to see this moving forward, Jay. Fantastic body mods. How are you planning to attach the lower trim. Craft wire is a great idea but how and when does it get attached?
-
Maybe round off the perch at the top front corners and add u-bolt detail? It doesn't need to be fancy.
-
And now we know, Bill. I might do the OEM type with wire but a hot rodder would use the "parts store" band type. Good thinking π€ I hope I understood this. The photo is a bit cloudy.

Well shut my mouth! π€ they should have built it. It's pretty neat. -
That looks real, Elliot. Rusty and dusty. Nice work!

I like the BSI Gold, mostly the thin, for many glass installations that are difficult otherwise. My complaint is that the Gold variety has a short shelf life (after opening, anyway) and its pricey. π

Chopping AMT 37 Chevy Coupe

Here's photos of a '37 Stovebolt rolling down a VA highway. I used these photos to build one in 1:25. It appears to be un-chopped. at least the roof isn't. -

Yes indeed, Greg, the emblem they used from the late '40s till, I dunno, the early-mid '60s? Somewhere along the way they stretched it out wider....but what's the obsolete ford coat of arms doing on the the hood of a Mercury concept? That's kinda strange. π€. Good thing you found it! π Maybe it's a Canadian thing? -
I like the idea of using a suicide front end. That works really well for a "rat rod". It's pretty much a requirement if you want it scraping the asphalt. Also I think thin pads on the seats is a good idea. Those holes are going to print red circles on your butt if you don't. Looks like fun, I'm jumping on.π

Thanks, I had to try something, David. That body without side trim is just an expanse of flat, uninteresting sheet metal. The reason the original side trim was removed was because of the tail light mods. I tried to change it to compliment the new lights and botched it totally. The only thing to do was replace it. Trying to duplicate the original trim was beyond my pain threshold π¬. Life is short and I've got too many kits I want to build. π₯΄. The backlight trim looked like big trouble, especially at the bottom of the glass where there was practically nothing to guide the knife during the foil operation.

Just some boring stuff(π©) This car has a very thin (@1:25) belt line trim under the greenhouse. Thinking ahead π. Getting this thing ready for a first coat of primer.....by scraping of the real first coat from the line I'm going to need at foil time. That's okay, the humidity here was stressful so I'm spending more time on this boring stuff. I also thought it would behoove me to puff up the trim around the backlight. It was pretty well flat in some places. I added some Evergreen .040 half round at the top and .030 at the bottom. Sanded and sanded and then sanded....well, I'm not done with it π₯΄. The game's on π Thanks for faking interest!

I see, fro m the photos, that your firewall looks like it is installed. Did you find any issues with the way it fits? The kit I bought a few years ago (and haven't built yet) has an issue with the v-shaped stop on the underside of the cowl. If you have not experienced this issue, maybe it was resolved but I wanted to mention it.

It looks like you're off and running already, Johnathan. Is there an "inspiration" truck or are you shooting from the hip? Where are you going with this build? What's the plan?
