I hear that π.

Ah ha. Well, get started, dammmmit!

The tub mods look good, Dennis. That's going to work really well.π

Where does the roof come from? I don't recognize it, Len. π§

Amazing how fast it went by. Well, I just wanted to catch up on all my dirty birds and maybe get current. I got four of 'em in "glass" regardless of finished completely or not. This one seemed almost at final and it actually is. But I gotta paint the effing hood again. My bad.

Yes indeed, Dennis, THIS is where the FUN is! This is what puts your brain in gear. π€― can't wait to see the post-primer mock-up! The roof looks awesome, Boss, and so does the pan/bumper setup.

Having unfinished projects piling up can be a real detriment to one's focus. I decided it was time to clean some of it up while waiting on other projects π₯΄. There were a few that just needed a battery or radiator hoses. This '62 'Bird needed final assembly so it's back here for a while. This project goes back to August of '23. The windshield was the first thing I needed to deal with. It can actually be "snapped into place so that's what I did. I added a bit of CA on the front edge of the assembly and let it set up overnight. This morning I added the vents which have locating lugs that fit into recesses in the windshield frame. The small tabs on the bottom of the vents will locate in notches on the door panels. The driver's side provided an opportunity for some choice language being dispensed at high volume but I uncharacteristically resisted. I got the body on the chassis with some very careful handling and glued and clamped the front. The front wheels are "set-able" but for now I'm allowing them to flop about till I make that decision. I added some items under the hood such as the battery, the washer reservoir bag, heater hoses and A/C lines, shock tower braces, and brake line. There's still more work here but mainly it's paint. Oh, and I tried to polish the hood...that didn't work out. Gotta paint it again. thanks for looking at this all-but-forgotten thread.

Tilt column is a great idea, Greg. Nicely done!

Got 3D, now what? HELP!

Hot from the tap works quite well. Only broke one shock absorber. I used a PE shear and a chisel blade but some of the less fragile items just sorta pulled off. Thanks for everyone's input, it worked out well enough. Putting it together looks like a fun time. π -
That was the idea. π€ Thank you both.
-
Oh yes! What they said, Greg. We all have run into this situation and we now have a blueprint for the remedy.

Thank you all and Merry Christmas! The vendor made a point of soaking the parts in warm water, so I guess that's where I start. I think there's enough info here to start this adventure. Thanks again! π€ -

Thanks, Les, I guess that once I get started it will become clearer. -
While the fingers are all having a nice time staying warm, nothing is getting done !

I want to build some A and T and deuce hot rods but needed front axles. I bought a "wild drop" from A-modeler and a beam axle kit from Custom 3D Scale Creations. The Aussie axle is on the way but the 3D kit arrived yesterday and, frankly, I'm a bit flummoxed. I knew there would be a learning curve but ...well, take a lookπ βthis is what it will become if I can separate the pieces without breaking anything or throwing it against the wall. Where do I begin? There are tiny parts all jammed together and very fragile in appearance. I think I bought myself a nightmare before Christmas π± . It comes with no instructions and the vendor's eBay site bears a brief narrative about warm water. I asked questions but their answers weren't very helpful to me. It's my first exposure to 3D printed anything. The detail is phenomenal and it looks as though the scale is accurate to a fault. Please help π

Just curious, but what would be the purpose of "work mittens" other than for a non-smoker not drinking coffee while taking a break?? I never understood mittens π. The color is good though, rich looking. Definitely works with dark blue. π§βπ

Thanks, Len, but no. I appreciate the tip, Steve, I'll keep it in mind. This one is getting Alclad or something more reasonable. I've had success with Alclad and it's good enough for this train wreck.

Discretion is the better part of valor. It looks terrific. ππ -
Bumper update: this is the one π Tucked in tight and pinned. Now I need to get it smooth. Smooth enough for chrome. Thanks for stopping by π§βπ

What about casting another Weber? Or modifying the funny one? Nothing to lose by trying. Floor pan looks fantastic, Dennis, can't tell it's not "real" π

𦻠wah? someone mention my name? Hey! Lenny! Don't forget to paint the wing nut!
-
There's a good possibility, David. Proportionally, it's much better. It's a blood relative. It's how I work, Lenny. Lots of CA and kicker, then spraying dust all over the room. Did I mention I bought a great stick-vac? It gets a lot of use these days.

It's a cool idea, Ferbs. It's more than a chop. It's more like a section job. I'm on board.
