I always make sure everything is sorted out and is going to fit then I paint the bodies first. I just can't get inspired to paint and build the rest if the body does not come out good.

This is what I am building next. Body is painted TS-8 Italian Red and TS-17 Gloss Aluminum w/ TS-13 Clear over the silver. I will be using Tamiya's excellent photo-etch set.
  3. Thanks Marcos, that means allot from somebody builds some absolutely beautiful stuff.
  4. Thanks. No it's pretty simple. I had to modify the rear wheel covers because they made them the same diameter for front and rear.
  5. Just Finished. WIP is here Porsche 962
  6. Or the poor little diesel in this car that makes 1100 ft lbs. of torque.
  7. You mean engine like this "little bitty" BMW engine that made 1300 Hp. that is far more power than anything NASCAR has ever seen. This engine was 1.5 Litre(90 Cu.In.)
  8. Poor Nick, he was born in the wrong decade and he doesn't know it. I am lucky enough to have a heard allot in person. I remeber hearing that Matra v12 sound at the Glen in 1968. Racing Mazda's are pretty wild sounding, the Judd V10, the BMW straight six the list goes on. Mr' Ferrari was right when he said 'there is a melody in the noise". But here is an engine that can sing a song.
  9. Thanks. Actually it is a Hasegawa mold. The rumor was that a 956 was going to be offered by Revell that was to be the old Protar. Revell has realeased a Jaegermeister version of this kit mistakenly labeled as a 956.
  10. Got done with the decals. BTW all of Porsche's prototype cars were right hand drive, only the production 911 based cars were left hand drive.
  11. We finally got a Hobby Lobby in our area so went today and used a 40% off coupon on this.
  12. Not too pick on everybody's favorite golfer but this one was pretty funny. What does Tiger Woods have in common with baby seals? They both have been clubbed by a Scandinavian.
  13. Great job Randy. I especially like the license plate. those wheels look better too.
  14. My current WIP Revell's Porsche 962 with Speedline's Rothmans Decals. The work needed to make this kit accurate is more than I feel like doing but it will be a reasonable fascimile. paint is Krylon White(Spraycan) with Krylon Regal Blue(airbrushed). The rear wheel cover disks had to be enlarged and spacers added to the back as Revell(Hasegawa) made them the same for front and rear.
  15. Great job! Mine had trash in the chrome so I am going to try something else. The chrome is a real pain to deal with.
  16. Believe it or not you cannot use solvents on Tamiya's newer(2000 and up) kit decals. What I do is keep some almost boiling water nearby. I dip a folded up tissue or cloth then blot out the excess water on a paper towel. Then I press the decal with the steaming hot cloth. It will conform instantly with no wrinkles. A Q-tip can be used for smaller areas. Some times I use a hair dryer on the lowest setting run quickly over the decal. I only use solvents down in panel lines. I could not have done this car without this technique. It is painted white as a base and all other colors are decals.

    Pug is done.

Finished this last night. The WIP is here Pug in progress.
  19. Thanks for posting that, I was in the U.S. Navy from 1975-1979. Thanks to all who served and are now serving. We can never do enough to repay those who defend us all.
  20. Started doing some decals. To the "expert" on seatbelts please do not talk about cars you know nothing about and do not use my thread to discuss Earnhardts death, this the model cars work in progress area.
  21. This site has some on e of the nicest pics of sports prototypes and grand prix cars from the 1970 and 71 seasons. If you like the movie Lemans with Steve McQueen you will recognize some of the pics. Historic Racing
  22. I appreciate your criticism but you don't seem to know allot about rally cars this is very typical and here is a pic to prove it.
  23. My latest work, Tamiya's Peugeot 307 WRC. Paint on the body is Duplicolor DSC351 Flash Red, the white stripes are Krylon airbrushed over the red. The kit has decals for the stripes but paint is more solid looking. I will be using aftermarket tobacco markings by Tabu design, they specialize in nothing but tobacco markings. Various manufacturers composite decals were used.
  24. Looks great. Those wings are very hard to get straight and all put together. That scoop(hump) area on the roof looks good in the end.
  25. Ed, Rainbow Ten has a website. They are in Japan and they are great to do business with.
