  1. When you want a nice smooth but slightly scuffed surface that paint will stick to, try using a mold abrasive like SoftScrub(kitchen cleaner)or similar product. Scrub the part with it using a tooth brush.
  2. For anyone interested this page Lotus 79 has links to both of the Lotus 79 kits with pics of parts for comparison.
  3. For those interested there is live streaming video at radiolemans.com. This race started at 8:00 AM EST and goes to 8:00 AM EST tomorrow. Last years race had 280 cars on the 14 mile Nordschleife circuit at Nurburgring.
  4. Nice job , is the white area on that wraps around the back of the cockpit area decal or paint. I know the original kit decals have it as a decal. You have to add some tabs from evergreen plastic glued under the edge of the body work so it locks in place. I do that kind of thing to everything I build, I hate ill fitting body panels.

Nice job. Believe it or not the seat belts were not represented in the kit because cars of that era did not have them. I believe about 1968 they became mandatory. Tamiya's decals don't like solvent of any type. I use a hot damp cloth pressed over them to conform them. I only use solvent down in panel lines.
  6. Here is one I have been working on, Monogram's Miller Mustang. I have a new Speedline decal sheet for it. I have been pinning and making it mechanicly sound so everything locks in place and is straight. This kit takes allot of work to build nicely. The roll cage had to be reworked to fit the car's roof line, they had it sloping down to the back of the car, it now follows the roof line. The wheels are just junked ones from an old build.
  7. Dave the Future can be removed with ammonia. This will get rid of the cracks. The only cracking I have ever had was over Tamiya's Acrylics, then the paint cracks too. I had a few over testor's enamels once but I wiped it off with ammonia and re-applied it and had no more problems. It does not like Dehydrators either.
  8. Peter you dome some amazing work and so quickly. Well done. The full bodywork does look better than the OOB version.
  9. One tip of warning. Do not use them with acrylic paints. They permently bond to them and will not come off. You can your own using white glue with food colring sdded so it can be seen.
  10. Does anybody have a good(high res) picture or book you could scan for the pic of the emblem pictured below? I need one to make one for the Miller Mustang racecar I am working on. Any help is appreciated.
  11. Two tips on Future. I use disposable make up pads like this picture below to apply it. ALso Zymol brand wax deepens and enhances the gloss. All other waxes including the Treatment start to remove the Future when rubbing.

The holes are odd but I would guess they were used for relief venting to help create a low pressure area under the front in conjunction with the front chin spoiler.
  13. I just checked their website(Radio Shack) and they still sell it, it comes in red, white and blue. Here is the link Wire

Thanks, no it is by Hasegawa. The fit and details are not as good as Tamiya either. It's this one
  15. In case anybody doesnt know Vettel's lack of power was caused by spark plug failure not a broken header as was first surmised. It was good to see Shumi back. The race confirmed my prediction that Button will not win any races. He was just lucky last year to get a superior car, reminds me of Damon Hill for the same reason.
  16. You didn't say whether you were using the TS Spray or the bottled acrylics. I have noticed the Sprays tint faster with less coats than the acrylics. Try the Acrylic or try Future with green food coloring added, both can be easily stripped with ammonia without any harm to the plastic if you don't like it. A good airbrush is critical with these paints for proper atomization and coverage. I did the rear window on this Porsche 935-78 with The yellow acrylic. These cars used some kind of plastic for the rear window that a very light yellow tint.
  17. It appears that Radio Shack has dropped this wire. It was 30ga Wire Wrap Wire. Wire wrapping is not really used in electronics any more. I recently went to a a supplier I got a 100' roll from years ago for $6 and it's now $20. It's getting scarce I'm afraid.

03 WRC Focus "Rally of Finland Winner" to be exact. This on is done, yeah. The rear wing mounting and fit is troublesome.
  19. I am happy to see Ferrari do well again but don't forget Vettel was very fast until his car developed a problem. It's a long season.
  20. I don't like this stuff as a primer because in my experience it seems hotter than any primer. It does seem good as a sealer over primer as it is intended to be used.
  21. Chassis is don and the body is ready for decals, kit the 03 Ford Focus WRC made by Hasegawa. The exhaust abd drive shaft are molded with the chassis, a real pain to paint. I added Bare Metal foil inside the tunnel to represent the heat shielding.
  22. Please feel free to use anything I ever post, that's what there here for.
  23. I couldn't agree more. Another reason I hate the Cayenne is it is the reason Porsche has not had a prototype at Lemans since 1998.
  24. This was posted at another forum but I have read the details. It's called the 918 spyder concept and it's a hybrid with a top speed of abou 195mph and 0-60 at 3.2 seconds. It was unveiled at the Geneva Auto show.
  25. Great job on one of the prettiest race cars ever.
