  1. Thanks, I have not started decals yet. The body is painted TS49 Bright Red, I masked off and airbrushed the lower white areas with Krylon white. Tamiya gives you separate red stripe decals if you do this instead of using the white stripe decals. The seatbelt material is cloth medical tape from CVS Pharmacy cut and then airbrushed with Tamiya X-14 Sky Blue Acrylic. Don't use the waterproof medical tape because the paint peels off of it and does not look as good anyway. I will post some pics of the body and finished chassis soon. I have the Studio 27 decal sheet for all the tobacco markings.
  2. Here are some progress pics of my current victim.
  3. This one from Tamiya has to be my all time favorite kit I've had or built.
  4. This whole thing re-enforces my theory that McDonalds, Walmart and NASCAR are plotting to rule us all.
  5. I hope Speed does not forget about Lemans. Unfortunately according to the American Lemans Series website schedule of events Speed is not covering any ALMS races. They will be on ABC or ESPN2 including the new Baltimore street race. I guess they need more time for their stupid reality tv shows.
  6. How fast is today's F1 car. This video says allot about it. This is not speeded up, I saw this during the race broadcast. This turn is the famous Ere Rouge at Spa in Belgium from a camera angle not shown very often. Whether you like the racing in F1 or not you have to admit nothing else goes through corners like this.BTW believe it or not Ferrari's new racecar this year will be known as the F-150(I guess they haven't heard about a truck with the same name)
  7. I used 91% Alcohol on Duplicolor with their clear. It turned the clear to goo in 20 minutes and Stripped most of the paint within an hour. Oven Cleaner and Purple Power work better on enamel type paints. Alcohol is best for all Tamiya paints except the primers.
  8. Krylon changed their formula about 3 or 4 years and the whole line sucks now. Luckily I still have a stash of the old suff. You can tell if the old formula 2 ways, it has other than the conehead shaped lid and the instructions say recoat at anytime. You can find the old stuff as the Industrial USE line of Krylon although it is hard to find. The old SG Black was the best.
  9. That's a great looking model, please post some more and bigger pictures.
  10. From this years Dakar Rally. If you ain't watching the daily highlights on VS channel you are missing some awsome video. This event is insane. I wish they made models of some of these cars and trucks.
  11. Thanks, That was very informative of how each line is used. I have the Eclipse HP-CS gravity feed. As soon as you put an Iawata in your hand you know it is a precision tool. It sprays better than anything I ever used. My Badger 175 Crescendo doesn't get used much anymore. If you havea Hobby Lobby you can get one for $100 with their 40% off coupon.
  12. The nicest and brightest red you can get from Duplicolor is DSC351 Chrysler Flash Red(it is available in the new cans.) The Reds are brighter than they appear on the lids because they are painted over molded red lids. Over a white base it's very nice. Here is a car I did with it over Plasikote white primer.
  13. It's great to see your skills doing this car. Watch out for the rear wheel assemblies on these kits. Built OOB without mods the tires stick out a little from the fenders.
  14. Acrylics do spray better at higher pressure, I use about 30 psi. Also try using windshield washer fluid, it works well withh acrylics and it's cheap. You should be able to strip them with 91% alcohol and Tamiya's strips with ammonia.
  15. Acetone is probably not a good thing to use. Believe it or not letting it soak in water a day or so will probably break it down.
  16. Here are a few from a funny sight called engrish.com, somehow something always gets lost in the translation.
  17. Looking forward to this one. I always thought of this car as a modern version of the Cheetah.
  18. To quote Audi "the R18 will be powered by a 3.7-litre six-cylinder turbo diesel and will soon begin an extensive testing program."
  19. This is Audi's new Lemans challenger the R18 in the wind tunnel. These cars look so sinister in raw carbon. More pics at this link Audi R18
  20. If it is any type of lacquer try 91% alcohol.
  21. I love the Alclad primer now that I got an Iwata eclipse HP-CS. I could not get it to spray smoothly with my Badger 175 Crescendo. As soon as I got the Iawata I noticed it sprayed the primer better and Alclad Chrome. It's very thin and does not hide details.
  22. This one is my current, Porsche's "Baby" 935. What else wouuld you have if you were 935k3?
  23. "amazing how one's eye can look at something and the brain tricks you into seeing something different..." one of the great truths of life, it gets me in trouble at work and at home. You do have to wonder why Fujimi did that anyway.
  24. Can you post a pic of the window? It may be fixable.
  25. If it was Rustoleum Laquer Clear try using 91% Alcohol. If it was there regular Enamel Clear try using EASY-OFF oven cleaner(yellow can only), and keep the Oven cleaner off your hands by using good heavy latex gloves(the yellow ones).
