Yes but it sets up pretty quick and you do may not have enough time to move it around. Dipping it in Future would also make it brittle.

I don't know why this old one got dug up, if anybody notices Mario's last name by the flag decal has been fixed with a new decal since these pics were taken.

?? about decals yellowing
935k3 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't know but if there are other colors they might fade. I would do them in prep for building the kit. -
The weathering kits are based on the acrylic paints. I clean mine with ammonia. Also the can easily be removed with windex or ammonia. Alcohol would work but it's probably harder on the applicator.

?? about decals yellowing
935k3 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have taped them directly to the window, usually about 3 days is enough. I have never lived in a house where the windows got wet enough especially on sunny days. It's acid in the backing paper that yellows them. The yellowing will come back if not used soon enough. -
Follow this link Toyota Celica Gr. 5for some great pics of a very cool Gr. 5 car. I wish Tamiya would re-issue this one. The 1/20 scale version was very nice with full engine detail.

Plasticoat T-235 Primer
935k3 replied to Len Woodruff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It is an Automotive primer and is not as fine as Tamiya's fine primer. Tamiya's is the finest primer theer is. The Plastikote sands beautifully and is good for parts without fine detail. Tamiya's is expensive I use it on things like a finely detailed dashboard but the Plastikote is good for allot of stuff. If you use it on something with allot of detail that needs sanded you can use an abrasive cleaner and a toothbrush to smooth it down instead of sandpaper. I use Soft Scrub a bathroom and kitchen cleaner. -
I built this one a couple of years ago so I am not entering it, it is here for looks only. This kit is being re-issued by Tamiya this year for anybody wanting to build it. I did tint the back window yellow which is correct for this car. I also built a full roll cage but it forcrd me to cutout the side windows and replace with thinner plastic.

Thanks Harry, I have know idea why they are different. Another set of the front wheel style is in the kit. It matches the pics though. Hasegawa does allot of versions of this car so you always get extra wheels leftover. Thanks to all for the comments.

Absolutely beautiful!!! I think this one of the best looking production based racecars of all time. I also think this is one of the best plastic kits ever made.

It's a Stratos from the 1975 Safari Rally. The WIP is here Stratos WIP

It can be wiped on with some practice. I use those round disposable cosmetic pads. I put some in a bowl, dip one in then blot the excess on a paper towel. If you don't like it it can be easily removed with ammonia or windex. The only paints that are affected by ammonia or windex is Tamiya jar acrylics. Future is the absolutely safest clear there is. It now appears as "Pledge with a Future shine" on the label. The future can be protected and enhanced with ZYMOL brand wax. All other waxes I have tried tend to remove the Future when rubbing it out.

You need to put the glue under the decal. I have had some issues with Tamiya's newer decals sticking as well. Another trick I like is to but some Future under the decal. It glues them down pretty good and it's thinner than glue. The excess can be cleaned off with ammonia or windex. I would not have any clear parts on a model when clear coating except maybe when using Future it is totally safe for all clear parts.

Great product for replicating Vinyl tops!!!
935k3 replied to cruz's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Great tip Marcos. Instead of sanding try scrubbing the top with a toothbrush and Soft Scrub(a mild abrasive for cleaning the bathroom) It's better when ever you need to sand irregular surfaces, it reduces detail without flattening the top if you know what I mean. This works well on detailed chassis pans that need the primer sanded before final coat of color. -
That's one pretty model Lyle.

Nice job! I built the Martini 1971 Le mans winner. These kits re very fiddly, especially the framing at the rear. I fixed the spare by chucking it in the drill to cut the grooves. The real car has a collapsible spare like the street cars from that era.

A few updates, I just have to decal the dash and the interior and chassis will be done.

Cobra Daytona Coupe in plastic.
935k3 replied to Steve D.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
.according to the new catalogue, Academy is bringing us a new tool Cobra Daytona Coupe this year. You can flip through the catalogue here: http://www.academy-europe.de/divhtm/katalog.htm This was posted at another Forum. I hope it's for real. -
I think it will be Ferrari vs Mercedes this year. Although I am sure Hamilton will win too. I predict that Button will not win any races. He benefited from an absolutely superior car last year. It reminds of Damon Hill, he was given a superior car. He could not pass anybody if he did not start on pole. I am still amazed that Marlboro still shells out all that money for barcodes, I always wondered if you had a giant scanner does it scan "Marlboro". I hope USF1 makes the grid.

Try thinning it some with Laquer thinner. Also drop the pressure down some too and try spraying a little closer and slower. Tha paint is rough because it is drying too fast. Also primer is very porous and soaks up allot of the first coats. Try putting a few then let dry and sand with 2000 grit and higher then spray some more on. The first coats will seal the primer.

Very nice concept, well done. What color and brand of paint what used on the body? I'd like to do the regular Little Red Wagon in that color.
-
I am with mr. Downie on this one, Formala 560 is the best white glue there is. I started using it for allot more than windows. Even after drying it can be pealed off. It is far safer than using super glue for attaching parts to a painted body.
