I was at Top Shelf models this Sunday and found a Revell 1990 Mazda Miata. I don't know why no one builds theses. I've never seen one on a table at any model contest. This thing is very nicely made. full detail engine that is quite accurate, great suspension and driveline. I was quite impressed. I can't wait to start this one.

Model for my Father 62 bel air update 3/25/15
rsxse240 replied to Drunken Goat's topic in WIP: Model Cars
If your dad is anything like my mom, he'll love it! One of the best things a person can do as a gift, in my opinion, is to make something with their own hands, imagination and love. Now a corny gift would be to just buy a diecast...anyone can do that...but to give a hand made, by you, gift shows you care enough to put forth the effort and sacrifice your time. Looks great so far! I guess I should elaborate: My mom always wanted a 56 Thunderbird. Blue with white top and port-hole windows. (She grew up on the Chesapeake bay, she loves everything that has to do with boats) So I built the AMT kit and just left the top off. She nearly came to tears. -
What did you see on the road today?
rsxse240 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I saw 2 stock Henry Js, a pro touring 69 Charger, an Elenore replica, a factory-5 cobra, 2 General Lee chargers, Rosco P. Coletrain's cop car, 2 different "ducks" (amphibious transport), an 86 Fiero GT, 55 chevy delray, 93 240sx convertible with red paint and a tan top. Probably saw a lot more, there are so many people cruising Branson, MO, its crazy. -
Car? We don't need no stinkin' car !
rsxse240 replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lol, that was out back in 2003. Still funny. -
FINALLY! I just picked up the Revell '90 Mustang LX 5.0 Cop Car. Now I see why Mike Schnur went with this kit for his Fox Hatch conversion. It's SO superior to all other FOX 'Stangs out there, other than the fact that it looks "Chopped". which I'm sure it will look better with the window trim painted. I'm not going to worry about it. My friend Jeremy Despain has a 93 Interceptor Mustang Coupe from the Texas Highway Patrol that has been converted back to non-police use. I think I'm going to build a replica of his car. It'll be black with carbon fiber stripes, saleen rear wing, Cobra wheels, centrifugal supercharged.

Jensen is (soon to be) Back!
rsxse240 replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Honestly, I think it looks like a Studebaker Avante'. Which is NOT to say it looks bad. I may have to get one of the avante's and mix it up with a new mustang to come up with something like this to put on the shelf. -

That's no moon...It's a space station! -
you know, it really depends on what style you are building the car. I presume you're going to build it in the style of the era so I would say the combination on the left however if you are going for a more modern style, I would go with a slightly larger rim and wider tire. of the two options you give the one on the left looks better.

Revell 69 Mustang front end CORRECTION RESIN!
rsxse240 replied to rsxse240's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I recieved an email from him. I am thinking he's going to need a LOT of them, not just a couple. I am going to email him again letting him know that he needs to make a bunch. -
Revell 69 Mustang front end CORRECTION RESIN!
rsxse240 replied to rsxse240's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
He's an aircraft modeller and probably built a replica of his own or a friends car and figured why not cast it. I know I try and cast all of my own corrections or custom bits so I can have more for later. How many of you placed or tried to place an order? He probably only had a few on the shelf. As for all the thanks, it was my pleasure! I can't keep good stuff like this from our community. I just wish I had placed my order before posting it up here! Lol -
A better part could be made out of styrene or brass rod. Unless you are trying to replace a missing part

Revell 69 Mustang front end CORRECTION RESIN!
rsxse240 replied to rsxse240's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I get paid Tuesday and plan on placing an order for at least one, maybe 2 or 3 since I have a few of these. It would be nice to build a GT a base and maybe a coupe and or convertible, all of which will need corrected front clips. I guess I had better get in touch with the feller and make sure it isn't an abandoned web site. Edit: I just emailed him. I'll let you guys know what he says. His name is Dmitri Malkov and is based in Tucson, AZ, USA. DMold has been around since 2008. I'm a bit anxious to see if this is going to work out. I'm going to place an order Tuesday. Hopefully it will work out fine. -
I work as a mechanic for a living, when I take a vacation, I leave my tools at the shop. I am sure similar would be true if I were a resin caster. Now, if you've been waiting months, that may be a different story. Also, check your bank statements for a cleared payment. He may not have been paid for some reason or other.

Kit Cars, Clones and Replicas in scale
rsxse240 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There was a Discovery Channel show, or something along those lines, that had a guy restoring one of those vans. He made it all straight up Seventies Custom. It was pretty cool. -
I was looking around the web and found a resin company, DMold Modelworks, that produces mostly aircraft correction parts, but in their "other scales" category was a corrected front end for the droopy eye Revell 1969 Mustang Cobra! I've not built the ones I have in my stash due to the daunting task of correcting the nose of this otherwise near perfect pony...er...snake....anyway... It's only $11.95 and has the corrected front facia and a new, more recessed grill. This makes me VERY happy as now I can complete my Mustang collection (hoping to have one for every year or at least body style) Here's a link to the page with the mustang part: http://dmold-modelworks.com/contents/en-us/d12.html I really hope the guy is upstanding. I have never done business with him. He also has some old big scale formula1 parts for correcting a lotus and a ferarri, but they're not my cup of tea, but maybe one of you guys might find it helpful.

Lol. I'll try ti see if I can find a piece. I have a nissan leopard kit that has 2 spare tire wells. One was for a skyline chassis, I presume, as they share a lot of chassis parts in 1:1. I'd be happy to send one if you'd like.
-
Are you going to leave the spare tire covered? Stripped in Nismokc (our local Nissan club) begins with losing the spare and the cover Fantastic work. I always wondered what happened to this one.

For a first post, you sure come out of the gate strong! That is a beautiful rig! I can't wait to see what else you have, because the skill it takes to make such a nice model has to be honed over a long period of time! And welcome! -
I'd bet I cold pop out quite a few rather quickly using solder for the shackle and a straight pin from the sewing section at hobby lobby. As it was stated earlier. Check larger scale train detail parts like G gauge and O-gauge. I don't recall precisely, but one of those is really close to 1:24 Check Micro-Mark, they have a bunch of detailing accessories like that for trains and most other hobbies.

a friend of mine has a RB25 (rear wheel drive) in his S14 and it is scary fast. Dyno shows about 550 horsepower. It's very heavily modified, but still retains a factory look. I'm honestly not impressed by the RB series due to the fact that they're as heavy as a big block chevy engine and only produce about 250-300 horse stock (from all the dyno runs I have seen with my friends' cars) Don't get me wrong, a GT-R power plant with all wheel drive would be absolutely KILLER in any S-chassis. There's a company in California, Full Race, that converts S-chassis cars to awd with the GT-R drive train of your choice. keep up the good work, I'll be watching intently!
