Cesar, you never cease to amaze me. It's great you decided to pick this one back up. It's one of my favorite kits of all times. When I first saw this pic, I thought "What kind of battle axe are you building?" http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o278/bossolani/37 Cabriolet/37_cabrio_105_zpszskjc8ad.jpg

Ok, this is a bit of a stretch, but it's still a box art/grammar mistake that made it into production. Its a re-released Mustang kit that says it's fuel injected the end of the box shows that it's fuel INJECTD

For now, it's going to sit on the shelf. opened for inspection only, I opened the bags of parts to look at it in detail and yep, it's a cobra. I bought it because it's one that I've been wanting for a very long time...a non-race version with full windshield. I may start it soon if I get anything done with my VW Rabbit and when I get my real car running.

If you're sticking with those wheels, you may wanna go quite a bit lower. I love everything else though. The engine is very well done!

Great minds think alike! I too just picked up some bmf and that same cobra kit. Tell you what I DIDN'T get is the Möbius f100 kits. I drove 40 miles to find that hobby town didn't get their shipment when it was scheduled. Then I made another trip only to find that they were closed for the 4th of July holiday

Congrats, Blair Pletcher!

This is fine and good, but then there's the other side of the coin that I can already hear..."favoritism" and "You guys never pick me". I think it would be nice to be invited to submit, or have an "editor's choice" showcase. *edit* Look at me getting caught up in an off topic debate in my own thread. lol -
I just picked this kit up and started it today. It's a great model! You have done an outstanding job! It makes me very happy to see it builds up so nicely. I really like the bumpers and wheels too!

I agree with you, however, if you, God forbid, ever have a disaster and need to claim it on insurance, it would certainly be nice to have that ledger at that time. *edit* I posted this before reading all the way to the end, I now see that my post has been covered. I also see, as usual in open forums, the topic has gone....off-topic, lol. I can't get my insurance agent to take me seriously, but I can't afford to go to another company that does. Last I counted I was well over 400 kits in my stash. I've only about 12 or so on the shelf completed, so I guess you could call me more of a collector of buildable kits than builder of collectible kits. Since I only buy kits that I can afford or just REALLY have to have, I generally have the run of the mill collection with just a few kits that might be considered as collectible. All in all, if I were to put a replacement value on everything in my hobby room, I'd be close to about $20,000 USD, but I've been building and buying models and supplies since 1986. So, yes, I strongly suggest getting your hobbies insured.

Sorry for looking at the magazine which must not be named, but Blair Pletcher graced the last page with another gorgeous rust bucket!

Looks awesome! I always think the Australian cars look like a 7 year old's drawing of American cars. Lol Do you have a link to your build?

I know, I'm old and just giving flak.

I have to ask. What is sleeper or street about mini tubs, cage, stripped interior, big engine and big exhaust? I was under the impression that a sleeper was an unassuming, stock appearing vehicle that was fairly quiet but would blow the doors off of most street driven cars. Your pro-stock or modified class mustang looks great! Sleeper it ain't. Lol

If you want true realism, you should bust the dash board up just in front of the instrument panel cluster. Otherwise, I love it. Really shows that even a toy can be a piece of art. -
A long time ago, I had a friend with a Shelby '68 F100. I don't know if it was a clone, one off, or just some guy's, as you call it, what if project. Any way you put it, it was the metallic green with the GT stripes (without the GT script) bucket seats, 4-on-the-floor, 427 FE and a few other non F-series options. I had some pictures from when film was still being used, but I have no clue where they are now. So, your "what if" may actually be a somewhat legit build. I like where you're going with it. I'll be watching and impatiently awaiting the arrival of mine!

So is the tail gate available without the XLT/Ranger wood grain panel? I never really cared for the big trim or the wood grain anyway. As for the real truck, the wood grain panel has separate chrome letters that have pins that go through the "chrome" (aluminum) panel.

custom '50 chevy pickup
rsxse240 replied to rsxse240's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
pieced it together to see how it looks. I think it looks better together with the cab and all. Just the bedsides and tail piece looked a bit chunky, so I had to see it all together. I sanded the curved panel and got all the old paint off of it. I think it will look good. Just have to figure out what to do for the rear bumper or lack there of. and another pic for fun I am going to have to paint the bed floor before I assemble the bed because it will be impossible to finish the floor inside the built bed. YAY I guess, I get to shoot some paint! -

Well, I dug this back out. I am getting so frustrated with this, I had to re build the 4-link arms because my measurements were not eyeballed properly. I put the suspension stuff down and decided to get the bed together so I can put the rear axle in the right place. So, I'm trying to cobble together some sort of tailgate/rear pan situation. With the weird bedsides, I had a difficult time coming up with a tail gate, so I just decided to go full custom and go full smooth....maybe, it is still somewhat being worked out. On with the pics: I had an old Shoebox Ford laying around from a botched custom job, so I decided to utilize the roof to get the curve on the tail panel as opposed to having a flat ugly panel. Here it's all cut up to begin the process. It wasn't curved lengthwise to suit my needs, so I made some relief cuts so I could bend it more and keep the arch of the panel. You can see I made the cuts all the way through on the ends and only about halfway through in the middle to keep the panels all lined up nicely. I traced the radius of the bedside onto some sheet styrene and trimmed them to a workable size. gluing the "roof" to the guides I made to support and maintain the desired curvature. and here it is roughed in....and I mean VERY roughed in. Once I'm happy with the way it fits, I'll be making bed rails, sanding, filling, sanding the rear panel and continuing the fabrication of the lower rear panel. Thanks for looking in. I really hope to continue progress on this, I feel good when I can step back and see some progress -

And my comment reflects the rest. Oh my, that is amazing! I presume you built your c&c cutter? I would love to build one myself. -
WOW! I am actually laughing out loud! hahaha I remember seeing the first original death race 2000. Scarred me for life. Every time I see a pedestrian in a cross walk, I say "That's an extra 20 points!"

Indeed, this is really nice! I always loved stake bed trucks. -
This one yielded no awards, mainly, I think, because there's no genre to put it in...at the time anyhow.

This is going to be one kit I'm getting weather it makes the wife mad or not and I'm getting at least 3 of them, dangit!
