hi all , this build was based on the revell ford roadster high boy kit , not a lot remained stock the build thread > http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70600 the bare metall look is not actually a look , i sprayed silver aluminum zink spray on the body and sanded that with superfine paper reveiling the aluminium in the paint. so actually there is a layer of alu paint on the body .. went for something i had planned for a while and thats adding speedholes , all holes are drilled out and countersunk from the rear to make the styrene material thin and to look more like sheetmetal , the engine is builkd up from several parts out of the partsbox with custom made parts on it to be hounest i was making a sloped windscreen but that broke when i heated it and bended it to get more shape , i tried to make a new one but i didnt get anything nice so thats something i will add in the future . also i need to add gauges in the dash , thats alos something i need to waight with i want to really sratch those and make gauges with more detail instead of using the kit decals some pics in my garage (the garage is a work in progress) i will add beter pics when the sun is shining

crazyrichard replied to crazyrichard's topic in WIP: Model Cars
did the spark plug wires , made out of thin brass wire from old chanpaign bottles fitted them , bended them into shape and painted them red while fitted on the engine where they go in the engine i still need to pains some black (like the round holes that are now red) also did some fith on the door from the exhausts the udercarridge was a problem i could not sand there to get the same effect like on the body it was still clean an silver. so i washed it and made it look filthy .... didnt want any rust on the car so i kept it like this -

thnx guys and the bare metal look is explained a xxx amount of posts back its actually silver aluminium zink spray and in fact there is really a layer of aluminium on the car .. spray the parts and it will look metallic grey , sand i long enough with fine paper and you will find aluminium stuck on your sandaper and the body starts to look more and more like bare metal ... -
