  1. haha thnx guys !!! and tony whell i started building in 2008 , first did 3 diecast thingys and then started with styrene kits .. i think i can explain the inspiration part .. before i started modelbuilding my hobby was photoshopping cars. i was real fanatic about that and spend hours and hours in details of one rendering.. photoshop tuning / pictuning .. i was pretty well known in that scene and did that for a long while ... that photoshopping is about the same as modelbuilding better said scratchbuilding .. you make something from nothing (in that case virtually) and only have your own inspiration as a guideline or barrier (?) same as modelbuilding the photoshopping is a process of starting first time as a noob and growing and getting better and learning new techniques , where you begin with just copy and pasting stuff from different car pictures , you end up brushing it yourself with a wacom tablet etc etc ..a lot of stuff to learn there also it involves a lot of design and like vision to create something you made up .. that also grows the more you do it same as modelbuilding beside that i was also a sort of selfthought diy fanatic ... making stuff from part bought and part salvaged materials .. seeing things different and always got great reactions when people saw the stuff i made .. i have always been able to use what ever stuff i could to make something of that .. and thats also what i love .. more then buying materials .. i just love to re-use stuff and change stuff now one day i got a diecast model for free and for fun started changing that .. and found a lot of stuff on the web i got like the modelbuild virus ...and in the end that grew into styrene and i stopped the photoshopping because both hobbys where the kind that take hours and hours .. photoshopping believe it or not is twice as timeconsuming as modelbuilding .. i had too choose because i didnt have the time for both .. so i choose modelbuilding and still never had any regret .. its just more hands on and toutchable then something virtual (although i will always love virtual design) and maybe weird to say .. but i have done a lot of stuff thats hands on .. creating or making stuff i never did .. and just by hearing or seeing how its done .. i kind of made it work or did it myself .. i'm a pretty quick learner .. and last but not least .. the dio thing i got from seeing some great builds here and online everywhere and those builds insprired me to start one myself (the precious one) this is now my third dio , started with the hotrod garage , then the gasstation and now this one .. when i put this one next to the hotrod garage .. its funny .. how simple that one is in comparison .. but thats cool growing and learning new stuff i will always say this > the most important is drive .. i start a project like this and it consumed me , when i'm not building i think about it .. get spontanious idea's .. sometimes go the other way round and take parts and look at them wondering what i can make from them ... but the drive and want / need to go all the way is i think what makes the difference .. when i started with hotrods i cut corners and the chassis and undersides where a bit dodgy .. like you cant see it so ... then that grew into the need to make everything like it should be .. its that drive that pushes you to get better every time all not ment cocky because when i see some stuff around here , for instance the brass builds (tow truck and ford gt40) or the aluminium stuff .. i think whow still so much stuff to learn and get better in
  2. i have a smaller charger on the bench , better visible in the shots i post now > but i could make like a mobile jumpstarter yes shot some better pics in better lighting and the surfboard in better lighting , i want to use paint wood effect more and maybe try to make woody sides on the ford bronco i still need to continue building
  3. i still did not have a decent shop logo , i knew i wanted to use richrods speedshop (not garage) ... the surfboard gave me the idea to make a oval shoplogo and that worked great .. i designed the logo and gave the base (red) some grain to mimick flakes ,, played a bit with fake shine using light and dark ... glued it on a piece of plastic and with a spavcer put it on the edge of the office
  4. made some axle stands , medium sized , done them rough on purpose and pt dark metal coat on them , polished them and then gave the a very mild layer of surface rust .. just rough and not so much sticking out / popping
  5. i had 2 of these boards one is on my ford surf woody .. i searched for the second set of decals .. found the nose peice and that was actually what i needed . the decal originally covers the whole board and then you dont see the wood effect .. so put the nose piece on and found a set of decals froma nother kit with a hanson decal and cut that out and put it on the rear .. makes it much more exiting
  6. real alu brackets .. now i wanted to make the nice wooden brackets .. but it was too much .. wood on wood on wood ...now aith the alu it just pops better and looks more real in a way shop is close to the beach
  7. on tv i saw how they painted a dash in a way it looked like real wood , the guys from kindigit did that ... i loved seeing that !! when i fund a styrene surfboard in my partsbox last night i got the idea to try that in scale ... paint it so it looks a close to real wood as possible .. kind of a test so i sanded it right away in matte beige .. later on when it was dry i painted normal wood stain over it (red-ish) , the stuff you use around the house for real wood . then with a woooden meat stick (sate) with sharp point i randomly made some grain in the stain ... this morning i polished the stain with a soft (moist) cloth to get the stickyness off .. then took dark brown oil paint and started washing the board to give it more nuance and tones and then i started thinking ...lately i used clear tape on signs instead of clear coat ... this protects the print and clear will go into the paper and makes the print blurry .. but the clear tape gives suck a consistant smooth glossy surface .. why not try to 3-d wrap the board in clear tape ? put the clear tape on tape and the grain i made now with a lighter at a bit of distance i heated the tape so it got softer and wrapped it around the edges and stuck it on the backside .. when cooled down took a blade and cut away the excess tape this was the result > after this i heated the edges slightly and smoothened the curves some more then i laid it on the real (stained) wood of my office ... and whell it kind of looked scary similair even the grain looked similair , could be awsome to try this on a woody build
  8. yes i agree .. but it needed something , added 2 bolts in the housing , brass ribbed power line with a distribution box (looked better then a curved line) and a turn switch below (not done yet)
  9. yes i know a nother guy was ranting about that (in a fun / nice way lol) for a while .. now that i had more smalld etails it started too look to bulky and it did take away a lot of sight .. so in the end i got rid of it
  10. thnx guys i removed the steel pipe for the electric wires going from the wall to the lift .. thats now fed trough the floor the spots that where damaged when removing the piping i dressed up .. on top a air vent .. thats drilled open so daylight can be seen through the vent .. on the bottom above the sink i put a wooden strip and made a sign > maid on strike clean up after yourself (lol)
  11. i want to comment on this , first of all i really dig the look of the front , like the door and style ... i feel the idea and concept ... that said .. i want to comment on the material used .. and i really mean this in the best way possible , not in a bad way !! cardboard just isnt the right material , it warps isnt a stirdy base ... and that said there are so much nice get it for free materials out there .. like scrap wood for instance or even old panels of laminate flooring ... but also all kind of hard plastics .. a good base / floor - walls etc can be build for no money if you just look for nice materials .. next time i would try to use stirdy material for the walls ... again ment whell !!
  12. taking my hat off .. not only is it gorgeous but the way you weathered the black is just stunning ... just amazing
  13. just absolutly love it !! sooo cool i have one thing , not ment offensive .. the front fenders - front end is soo wide .. in a way it is much bulkyer and wider in the front then in the rear and tbh its always nicer the other way around .. is it possible to downscale the front clip = like make it so its just a tad more narrow then the rear and alos try to make it less bulky .. maybe even narrow the front axle a bit so the front track is less wide then the rear .. that gives it that perfect shape again jus a enthousiastic comment .. loving this
  14. hmm i love the new wheels but i agree on this concept you better stick with the modern spoked wheels and keep those .. they just look perfect and fit the whole modern racer with old style body theme .. but man this is looking better and better , just love this build !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. now thats cool !!!!!
  16. whow looks awsome !!
