  1. What's the deal on the JoHan models? Are these new kits? Or they something from a few years back? And are the prices on the boxes, what you paid for them?
  2. I'm not 100% sure the 4-door Barracuda uses the actual Coronet doors/side glass (or Satellite for that matter). I got the impression the general look of the roof is based the '71 versions of those cars. If the real car could have shared doors and glass with the upcoming Satellite, it may have been practical to build a production version of the car back in the day. That generation Barracuda and Challenger did share a lot with the upcoming Satellite and Coronet. But, only up to a point. If you go back and read how this present car was build, it required a lot of modifications to even Barracuda sheet metal to make it work. They are claiming 80% of the car's body is built from parts they made themselves.
  3. Be careful of judging the car through the photos here. The photos Bill posted here, look a little compressed on the horizontal to me. Looking at other photos on the web, some from same event, the car looks a little better to me. Again, I got mixed feelings about this car. The video I saw of it on YouTube (that looks like it taken at the same event), I was very impressed with the thinking, design, and building of this car. It's a very nice build. Back to the looks. After seeing more of this car, I no desire to build a 1/25th scale model based on it. It's cool. But not cool enough to want to build a replica of it. What I would like to get my hands on is the fake sales brochure for car. That looks pretty cool. And from what I've read, they've been giving them away at car shows were the car has been displayed. Went hunting on eBay for one. None are showing up there. And I can find no contact info to the builders to see about getting one from them. I need one for my brochure collection.
  4. Okay, I did some more research on this 4-door Barracuda. (Not a 'cuda by the way.) The car we've been talking about, and in photos shown here, is not of a Chrysler built or designed car. It's an idea based on a rumored car Chrysler designers came up with back in the day, and may have built a prototype of. There is a pretty good interview on YouTube with the owner/builder of the car. It's a very, very nicely built custom car. The more I saw of the car, the more impressed I became. It is really kind of neat. The rear section of the roof/C pillar area looks a little funky to me. And being a Barracuda, it really should have been a hardtop rather sedan, in my opinion. Go check out the video, and the builders website, called 4-door Barracuda. It's pretty cool to see what they've build. And how and why they built it the way they did. It really is a pretty cool car.
  5. Thank you Bill. I'm not sure how I feel about the above 4-door 'cuda. I kind of like it on one hand. On another, I don't. I'm little disappointed to see it would have been a pillared sedan, rather than a true pillarless hardtop. I'm not sure if Chrysler missed the boat on this one or not?
  6. Beautiful work on the above boat Alan. Figuring out how I'm going to do the "correct" factory style two-tone paint job on this kit, is the one thing that is holding me up on doing mine. A lot of tape is going to be need to make the old Coronado look good. Despite wanting to paint it in the correct factory paint layout, I am thinking I want to do it in white and a light metallic blue. Rather than the factory correct colors of white and red. Blue is my favorite color. For just about everything.
  7. Very nice. How did you do it? And do think one could do it using rattle cans?
  8. I'll have to look in my MPC/Ertl-AMT '69 Mustang Mach 1 for that old Ford under dash A/C unit. I'd like to use it in my Revell '65 Mustang 2+2. I never paid that much attention to notice that piece was in the '69 kits.
  9. I don't get Hot Rod magazine. Any chance you can post some pictures from the article showing us the 4-door 'cuda concept car? If it looks good, it might be interesting to try doing a model of the car.
  10. I'm not a fan of deck mounted luggage racks. So I don't have to worry about this one.
  11. Impressive! Way beyond anything I can, or even want to do. Yet, I'm impressed. The work you do is wonderful. Keep on doing it. And thank you for sharing this video.
  12. I can't say it any better. By the way, I'm guilty of shopping where I can get what I perceive to be the best price/value. Or convenience. Now days, I buy a lot of stuff on line. I can find more of a selection and get what I want more easily on line. Plus at a better price? Guess where I'm going? This doesn't help my local hobby shops one bit. At the same time, like it or not, this is the future of retailing. As long as there is a demand for something, there will be somebody out there trying to meet that demand. It may not be the way it was done in the past.
  13. I love most of these old reissues. But, this one will not be grabbing any of coin.
  14. If he still has it, it would be interesting to see what it looks today.
  15. So what's the word? Does anybody know? Are these good kits or not?
  16. The hotrodbunny.com article is very interesting and much more complete.
  17. Okay... I have a vintage, original '75 and a more recent "original art" '76. So do I need a '74? No. But, I like those stupid little Gremlins. I bet this will appear in my collection soon.
  18. I'm literally finishing building the Monogram '57 Nomad in the next few days. It's an easy build. But looks a little toyish and lacks a lot of detail. I agree about Revell's old '57 Nomad. A very tough kit to build. The best part of that kit was the original box art, that you show above. Thankfully Revell's present '57 convertible has no relationship to either of the two Nomad kits. It a much nicer kit. Revell needs to design a new '57 Nomad based on the same tooling as its other more modern tri-five Chevys.
  19. I wondering why that isn't mentioned? I noticed the kit comes with an extra single pedal I assumed is also for the PowerGlide. Again, non mentioned in the instructions.
  20. That would explain it. And they indicate that exhaust system with the drag version in the instructions. I thought this was mistake. For they show dual pipes dumping in front the rear wheels for the "street version." I thought the instructions may have had that mixed up.
  21. I'm tempted to go for the Black Widow. But, do I really need another '57 Chevy in my collection? Though I do like the idea of plain business coupe. And a business coupe with fuel injection no less. That be cool for on the street. A fast way for a salesman to move his samples around the country. A quirky enough idea, that I may have to do it.
  22. After looking at the instructions over at Revell's web site, sorry to say this kit is nothing I would be interested in building. It's not close enough to a car you might find at most local Ford dealers at the time. Interesting is one of the exhaust system setups shown in the instructions. Just a single small full car length pipe and a muffler coming out of the right side header, near the crossover pipe from the left header. Who would use such a setup like this type? Looking at it, it makes no sense. I'm no expert on these type of drag cars. But, I can't believe a car like the Fairlane Thunderbolt would barely run being choked down by an exhaust of that type. Weird.
  23. A kit I have little to no interest in. But, I love Chris' review. Though hearing can be built "stockish" I may need to take a closer look at the instructions over on Revell's web site. A basically "stock" street version of this car could get me to think about buying one.
  24. There are two engine blocks in this kit. Other transmissions they both look the same. Anybody know what the difference between the two are? There are other duplicate/variation parts in this kit. But those are pretty easy to figure out.
  25. From what I've read, the using the Nova name in Spanish speaking countries is a bit of a myth. GM knew what Nova meant in Spanish and stayed with the Chevy II name in Spanish speaking countries.
