  1. Saw a Molotow Chrome paint markers demonstrate at last nights the MCCM (Model Car Club of Minnesota) meeting. I was impressed. Ordered one each of the 1mm, 2mm, and 4mm. Looking forward to playing with them. Scott
  2. Fun to bump into threads on things like this. One doesn't see many of these once common kits built. They were always a pain to build and get to look good. So the ones built above, are very nice to see. I think these kits would have been much more popular if they had come with separate chrome parts. I remember purchasing the '52 Chevy Fastback years ago. And being very disappointed. Especially with the built in grille. Scott
  3. I got the impression there were screws in the motorized version that held the upper and lower halves of the kit together. So you could replace the battery as needed. Scott
  4. The above '69 Fury picture was also shown in the Auto World catalogs of time. As far as I know, the kit was never released. At least not as a '69. The only JoHan police car from that era that I know of is their '68 Fury kit. I don't know what was going on with advertising a '69. The '68 version appeared for several years before, during, and after the '69 was shown in the above ads. Scott
  5. I built one of the old Monogram/Galaxie Long Jong dragsters a couple of years. A very simple kit that I liked a lot. Sometimes it's fun to kind of go back in time, and build some of those early kits. A cool kit of a very cool old style dragster. Scott
  6. Why the personal attack above? I wasn't even planning on joining in on this conversation until I saw that. Scott
  7. Living in Minnesnowta, we have 6 more months of winter coming. Ground hog. Or no ground hog. ? Scott
  8. Dylan is from the Minnesota "Iron Range" area. That is so close to Canada, I'm not one bit surprised he can't be understood. ? Scott
  9. Most of the Auto World plates were wrong for the year 1961. They are all correct for 1960 with the exception that they have 1961 as the year listed on them. Back in those days it was not uncommon for states to change their plates every year. Auto World designed their plates based on real 1960 license plates. But, they must not have wanted them to go out of date right away by putting the year 1961 on the plates. Again, models were seen mainly as toys for kids back then. I'm sure they figured most kids would never known that they were wrong. I know when I got my first set in the early 70's, I didn't know they wrong. I was just happy with how good the plates looked, and that they had my state of Minnesota as part of the set. Scott
  10. I purchased several from this vendor too. His stuff is great. Scott
  11. I loved Mannix. Connors was great. Bought the whole Mannix TV series on DVD just last year. The show was better than I remembered. Scott
  12. Nothing to take my money this month. I may get the '60 Ford. But, that's about it. And even that's a maybe. Scott
  13. I found those 1/43 Monogram '67 Corvette and 427 Cobra a major disappointment when they came out. They were a pain in the you know what to build. And I would not buy them again if they ever reissued. But, 1/24 scale kits originally talked about in this thread, I'd love to see them come back. Scott
  14. Just ordered a set of 1961 Auto World license plates on a buy it now on eBay for $4.00, plus $1.00 for shipping. It sound like the guy has a few sets available for sale. Well worth getting another set at that price. Scott
  15. A quick follow up. There is a guy on eBay with a buy it now, right now, advertising complete sets for $4.00, plus $1.00 shipping. There is another one asking $24.99, plus $4.99 shipping for the exact same thing. Then there is another with an incomplete set going for $3.00, plus $2.67 shipping. It sounds like the guy selling them for $4.00 a set, has a few sets available. And his shipping drops to $0.25 for each additional set you buy after you first one. I ordered another set at that price. Scott
  16. I've got at least one complete, mint, set of these plates still. I may have two? The one I know I have for sure is kept inside my copy of my 1971 Auto World catalog. I gave another mint set to a guy about 15 years ago who wanted to make a decal set of them. With the promise I would get at least one set of decals in exchange. Never saw the decals. And have not seen the guy who said he was going to do them in years. One can still find these Auto World license plates showing up on eBay from time to time. Because Auto World printed a ton of these back in the day, they are not really all that hard to find. And can be picked up at fairly reasonable prices. Scott
  17. I too am very impressed with how your Pyro/Lindberg Lincoln turned out Dave. You did a great job. Scott
  18. More trouble than it's worth? Mailing UPC from the box sounds pretty easy and fair to me. They're not asking to ship the whole kit back, are they? I've found that Revell has very good customer service. In fact they are one of the best. Second. Red plastic sucks! I use Tamiya primer. And it seems like no matter how much primer I use on red plastic, I always get a pink tint in the primer in the end. I've never had the wrinkling problem you had. I've found that dark lacquer colors over primer covers the red plastic in the end. I hate red plastic more than any other color. I've read here and in other places about why, or why not, red plastic is a problem. There is a lot of disagreement by people as to what the problem is. Scott
  19. 95%. Got all the makes right. Missed on the year of the Oldsmobile and Dodge. Scott
  20. Very nice. Do you have the Honda too? And if you do, will you a simular build on that one? Scott
  21. Shows how far out of the loop I am. And I'm okay with that. Scott
  22. Can you explain further. I have no idea what your talking about. ? Scott
  23. Missed this one for some reason. Just got the same kit today. So I was doing a web search and came across this. Good job of making a silk purse out of a sows ear. I'm impressed. Scott
