It was a typo. I don't know if it was me, the "human," or the autocorrection of the iPad? I'm leaning towards the human. Scott

Luc, sorry about misspelling your name above. I didn't see the mistake until I saw your response. I have corrected it. Scott

Round 2 January 2017 Product Spotlight
unclescott58 replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thats too bad. Scott -
Luc you bring up something I've never thought about. Your right, it would have been nice if Ertl would have tooled up a new early 2nd gen Firebird when they did the Camaro kit. The only trouble I can see is that they would have done another Trans Am. Don't get me wrong, I do like Trans Ams. But, I rather see a 1970 - '72 Firebird Formula. (I've also wish someone would offer an SS version of 2nd gen Camaro. Without the RS front end.) Scott

Round 2 January 2017 Product Spotlight

Jesse, I noticed on your above list that. Revell of Germany is planning on bringing out a '76 Torino. I'm interested in seeing what color plastic they will mold it in. Hopefully white. More important I hope they fix the carb/air cleaner setup. That is main reason I've stayed away from the Starsky and Hutch version. I'd also like to see some factory wheel/wheel covers. Scott -
The Panamera is something not very high to on my wish list. Generally I consider a Porsche with 4 doors to be bit of sacrilege. A Porsche SUV even more. At the same time, I do kind of like the looks of the Panamera. So this is one of cars I might be convinced to move onto my wish list with right review. Scott

That info may move that kit on to my wish list. I'll be anxious to see a review when this one when it comes out. I'd love be able to build a "boring run of mill" ? stock DB5. Somehow the earlier versions designed mainly around the Bond car, have never looked that appealing to me. So, I'm glad to hear that a fresh, modern tool of this car is coming. Scott

Round 2 January 2017 Product Spotlight
unclescott58 replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
You expect people to be rational about this, do you? I get a kick out of people telling us what they are not going to buy. I personally like to talk about what I'm excited about in each new release. And through my buying habits, hopefully get the model companies to release more of the stuff that I'm interested in. Again, the EMPI Imp dune buggy, even if it's 1/32 scale excites me. Though I do hope it the 1/25 scale version that they are planning on releasing. There are several things in Revell's latest announcement that I have no interest in. But, I have no interest putting those kits down. Especially if another person here is excited about them. Why should I rain on their parade? I hope we all can get what we want. I don't enjoy hearing people tell me what they don't like. Or to implying that what me interests don't meet with their approval. Who cares? I'm in this hobby to have fun. And there is an old saying that, "Money talks. And BS walks." I almost always in every release find something to be excited by. Whether it is something new. Or something old that I liked in the past, or wish I could have purchased in past. It's all okay. One last thing. There have been times when another's excitement and/or interest, or a review of a particular kit, has gotten to get me to take intest in and buy a kit I have no interest in initially. That why I peruse these threads. Scott -
Thanks Christian for digging up info on the MPC Aston DB-6 and Toyota 2000GT convertible. Airfix also made Toyota 2000GT coupe. Very cool. I may have to see what I can find out about that one. A shame that they can only be built with right-hand drive. A question for everybody. Is the dune buggy Revell is bring back the 1:32 scale version? I forgot that at one time Revell also made a 1:25 EMPI Imp model also. In fact, I believe it came with a Corvair and VW choice of engine? Could this be the kit they plan on bring back instead? I hope so. Scott
-
Other than the Toyota 2000GT roadster, did MPC ever offer the other three Airfix kits mentioned above? I don't remember seeing them in an MPC boxes ever. That doesn't mean it didn't happen. I just don't remember it. And did any of the four kits mentioned above have the option to build them with left-hand drive? I'd really like to find a Toyota 2000GT coupe that could be build with left-hand drive. Scott

Round 2 January 2017 Product Spotlight

I happy to see that AMT's 1:32 scale '65 Mustang is coming back. I love the kits from the old AMT "All Star" series. Nice simple little kits. I hope the '63 Corvette, '60 Thunderbird, '40 Ford sedan, and '32 Ford 3-window coupe are not far behind. And I get a kick out of all those who complain about Round 2 reissuing mosting old kits. Many of us are very happy with with what Round 2 is doing. Round 2 does spend money tooling up new die casts, sci fi models, etc. So they are offering new things. They must know where the money is. That's the reason they keep offering what they do. Rather than complaining, spend your money on the new kits you like from other companies. If that's where the market is, I'm sure Round 2 will follow suit. Scott -
Moebius '65 Mercury Comet Cyclone news
unclescott58 replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Went to 3 local hobby stores today hoping to find Moebius' new '65 Cyclone kit. None had it. So, I had to buy an MPC Rupp Roadster Mini-Bike instead. Which is good. But, I still want a Cyclone. Hopefully soon. Scott -
I got the MPC Rupp Roadster Mini-Bike kit today. I've been waiting for it to hit the selves. I didn't know it had come out yet. Another kit I've been wanting for about 45 years now. I'm happy to have one. A neighbor kid had real one when we were growing up. It was a fun bike to ride. And I've always liked the simple looks and the squarish gas tank that came on the first ones. Which the kit depicts. The later Rupp Roadsters looked a little too slick. Not as simple and fun looking as that first Rupp Roadster. Scott

Terrible Kits You Love!
unclescott58 replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have this strange desire to pickup Lindberg's (Pyro's) Cord 812. Like the Auburn, I like these two old Pyro kits for some reason. I do have the Monogram Cord. A far superior kit to Lindberg's in every way. So why do I keep thinking I need a Lindberg Cord in my collection? I had the Pyro kit years ago, so I know what it's like. Scott -
MPC/Round 2 - Pony Express is back from the grave!

I like the small bumpers Pintos the best. But, in the big bumper Pintos I like '79s and '80s best. I never like the '77, '78 front end at all. It just goes to show that there are "different strokes, for different folks." Scott -

A Blast From the X-EL Past
unclescott58 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Found the X-El '59 Plymouth I've been looking for at a reasonable price on EBay. I thought it was Light Blue with a Dark Blue roof I was looking for. But after seeing the old flyers above, I realized that the car I needed was Light Blue with a Black roof. So that's what I went looking for on EBay. It matches my other '59 Chryslers better than the White and Aqua one I've had for years. Now to sell the White and Aqua one. R. Scott Aho -
A Blast From the X-EL Past
unclescott58 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Fun to see. I too bought several from X-El in the day. If I would have had more money, I would have purchased more. One order, I ordered their '59 Chrysler, '59 DeSoto, '59 Dodge, and '59 Plymouth promos. I requested that all four be sent in the same color combination, Light Blue with the Metalic Blue roof. Instead I only got the Chrysler in that color combination. The DeSoto came in White with a Dark Ruby colored roof. The Dodge, White with the Yellow. And Plymouth, White with an Aqua colored roof. Several years ago a friend and I were talking. He had the Chrysler, DeSoto, and Dodge in the Light Blue/Dark Blue combo I liked. But, wanted more of a mix with the colors with his. So we ended up swapping even up our DeSotos and Dodges. Since then I've been keeping my eye out for a '59 Plymouth to match the others. So far with no luck. So I'm wondering if there is anybody out there who may have the two-tone Blue Plymouth I'm looking for? And maybe interested in swapping even up for the one I have? The Plymouth I have is in perfect condition. Still in the original promo style box X-El shipped it in. I would expect the same, if the person willing to trade their Plymouth for mine. The box is not a big deal. But, the condition of the model is. By the way, when Model King brought the old AMT '59 Imperial kit a few years back, I bought and built one. Naturally I painted it Light Blue. Since I built it as convertible, to match the others, I painted the interior and boot cover Dark Blue. Beyond the '59 Chryslers, I bought other X-El promos. Though again, with funds being the way they were back then, not as many as I would have liked to. It's a shame those promos are no longer easily attainable at reasonable prices. I'd love to add more to my collection. R. Scott Aho -
Tell us more please. Any photos? And who makes it? Where did you get it? Does it have parts to make a stock Torino under the hood? We need more info. R. Scott Aho

MPC '71 Dodge Demon re release
unclescott58 replied to Trucker_tim's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Very nice! R. Scott Aho -
I'm a little surprised nobody has done a review on Lindberg's recent release of their 1/32 Customizable Show Rods. These are two fun little kits. (I still can not post photos here. So don't ask.) I built both cars straight out of the box. Painting only the tires. For two fun and quick builds. Lots of different customizing parts. So there are several variations of each that can be built. And a big selling point on these two kits. Which has been a problem on a lot 1/32 kits by Lindberg, Pyro, or Aurora in the past. Is that both kits have chrome parts. Sliver paint never looked as good as real chrome as not found on a lot of older 1/32 kits. If these kits didn't include the chrome parts, I probable would have passed on them. The kit(s) also come with a very nice cardboard display stand. These kits are just a lot of fun. The only problem I had with either kit was with the front wheel hubs on the front axle of the Super Roadster. I had to do a little reaming, both front and rear, but the front in particular, to making fit. The tires/wheels fit fine on those. Other than that, everything else went fine. With the decals on both kits look great even without being painted. Again, two fun little quick builds. R. Scott Aho

I haven't built mine yet. But looking what's in the box, it looks like it's going to be easier to build than must IMC kits. R. Scott Aho
