What is the MAMA newsletter? I've already got the kit. It's not a great kit. But, it's not bad either. If you built the Ertl Boss 351 kit, or the original '73 MPC kit, you pretty much know what this is about. My only real complaint about the kit was the lack of correct '73 Mach I striping in the kit. I went to Keith Marks for the correct decals. I'm a little surprised with how Round 2 has done a lot of these reissues in the past, that they didn't expand upon the original decal sheet in this kit to includes those stripes too. Enough complaining. I've got the correct decals from Keith Marks. I'm happy. R. Scott Aho

In general, I dislike vinyl roofs. But, since this El Camino has one, I'll keep it. It was a popular option on a lot cars at the time. For some reason not a lot of models kits came with a vinyl roof at the same time? So I have very few cars in my collection that have them. And for that, overall I'm glad. At the same time the El Camino does not look terrible with a vinyl roof. In fact I the yellow with the black roof shown on the new kits box art. I may just go with that. R. Scott Aho

69-70 Mustang
unclescott58 replied to Racersonly's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It should be noted, the top car is the the '70. The one below it is the '69. R. Scott Aho -
Sad to say, but Mopar Magazine covered the above car a few years back now. Maybe even 10 years ago. The above car is a fake. Chrysler did not built it that way. Up until 1959 Dodge of Canada offer models that were Plymouths with Dodge front clips. With advent of the full-size Darts in 1960, Chrysler quit this practice. No more Ploges. The '60 and '61 Darts were the basically the same on both side of the border. With the exception of the dash board. '60 and '61 Darts north of the border came with Plymouth dash boards. From what I remember, the guy who built the above car claimed it was a "special prototype" or something like that. Mopar experts who have seen the car could tell it was a fake. And not something put together by Chrysler in one of their factories. R. Scott Aho

buick nailhead motor
unclescott58 replied to davysmodels's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I thought that was the case. And I knew the one from mid-70's was not the same. Again as I noted, I'd love to see the '32 sedan that came with the Willys reissued. I wonder why, unlike the Willys which has been reissued many times, they've never brought the Ford back? AMT's mid-70's '32 sedan would have very little interest to me. Since the subject have been covered by MPC's old Switchers kit and Revell's newer version. I do wish the '32 sedan delivery that MPC offered many years ago would also return. -

Yea, I see that now. Darn! I keep making mistakes like that. I guess I'll just have to go someplace and beat myself, until I'm a bloody mess for doing stuff like that. ? R. Scott Aho -
buick nailhead motor

I'm surprised no one has brought up the nailhead in Revell's recent '29 Model A roadster kit, until Casey did in the post directly above this one. It's very nice too. Also, the AMT '32 Ford sedan, shown above, again by Casey, is one of my holy grail kits. I have no interest in another of Willys coupe that originally came with that kit. I have enough of those. But, the custom '32 sedan above has evaded me. Does anybody know. Was the kit ever reissued? Or offered separately from the Willys? I wonder where the dies for that one has disappeared to? -
Back in May, before they shutdown I ordered the exact same kit of Modelhaus. I'm looking forward to getting it. Your right about the '67 Grand Prix looking better than the Bonne. By far the '67 Grand Prix convertible is my all time favorite Pontiac. Thought #2 are the other big '67 Pontiacs. In order of how I like them: #1 the Grand Prix (or coarse); followed by the Catalina with the 2+2 package; then Bonneville, Ventura, Executive, and the other Catalinas. I love mainly the front end on those cars. The stack headlights on the big Pontiacs are cool. But, Grand Prix's hidden headlights and slotted front turn signals are cooler yet. For those who don't know, 1967 was the only year Pontiac offered a Grand Prix convertible. Another cool tidbit. If you like the looks of the '67 Grand Prix's front end, but wanted something other than Grand Prix's two-door hardtop or convertible, you could go to Canada and buy a '67 Pontiac Grand Parisienne with the same front end. Along with the two-door hardtop, you could also get the Grand Parisienne in a four-door hardtop and station wagon. All riding on a Chevrolet chassis. Powered by Chevrolet engines. Even the interior was basically Chevrolet Caprice other than the Pontiac dashboard. How cool is that? I'd love to own a '67 Grand Parisienne station wagon. Can you imagine the conversations that would stir up down here in the United States?

How many tickles does it take to get an octopus to laugh? Tentacles. (Ten-tickles)

Great stuff. I love it. Even if it did start to put me to sleep. That's okay. I also love the sound of the steam whistle. Haunting in a lot ways. In a good sort of way. Lovely video. Thanks.

Anybody tried Bondic yet?
unclescott58 replied to crazyjim's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Already got my Bondic glue from the vendor I ordered it from on Tuesday. That was very fast service! Going to start playing around with the stuff probably later tonite. I'll pass on what I find after I've started using it. -
Matty Winspur's "The Fabulous Hudson Hornet".
unclescott58 replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I didn't know that anybody dragged Hudsons. I always figured they were too heavy for that kind of racing. Especially with the factory six still in it. I wonder how well they did? I wonder what kind of times they got going through the quarter? -
Another great review Tim. And a cool kit all of the way around. I'm glad to see the sail panel sink marks are gone. Because other than that, this has always been a great kit. The only thing I didn't like in your review, is the little teasing about another possible reissue coming in a year or so, done in a similar manner as this one. Actually I'm glad to hear that Round 2 is considering doing another kit like this. So you keep on teasing us with these little tidbits. And thank you Round 2 for another great release. I've always wanted the old soapbox derby car. Putting it with the Mueller era Elky is okay with me. I think this makes the new kit better than the original. And I'm looking forward to what ever it is that you guys shared with Tim. What you guys have been doing with AMT, MPC, Lindberg, Hawk, and Polar Lights, has truly has brought us into a Golden Age of modeling.

Styling Snafus
unclescott58 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
After going through this whole thread, I'm not impressed with any of the changes you guys have proposed here. No offense but I can tell no one here is a professional stylist. Including myself. I'm almost always impressed with well cars were originally designed, after someone changes them, trying to make them look "better." Rarely does it seem to work. -
Box art like above, can convince me to buy another one. I love it.
