You quoted me? It's not my model we're talking about here. By the way, I see I made a mistake in that quote. It should read, "on any model that has not been painted yet." Rather than, "on any model that has on been painted yet." So, I guess I'm glad your quoting me. As that gives me a chance to clear that up.

Went to the NNL North model car show today. Had a great time and picked up a spare AMT '66 Wildcat for my Missing Link '65 Wildcat resin I got in the mail two days ago.

Wonder who has the molds for this ?

I love blue. I was think about painting my Avenger GT-12 yellow until I saw the picture you posted above. The car looks great in blue. And sitting at a reasonable level. -

What is the bottom car just above? I'm sorry to say, I think the Avanger GT-12 is much better looking than that thing. But, not as nice as the two Ford GTs. -

You found pictures of the kit I bought just a little over a week ago, but was unable to post pictures of my own here. An interesting kit. I spent a little over a year trying to get one, before I got mine. Who has the tooling/dies? My guess, if anybody has them it would be Round 2. They bought off Lindberg several years ago. And it seems like Lindberg has many of the IMC dies. That's where the Little Red Wagon, Dodge L-600, Mustang II and Cougar show cars came from. The best bet is Round 2 has the Avenger GT-12 kit too. Now comes Murphy's Law into play. Since I just found a copy of the model for my collection after a somewhat long search. Round 2 will announce they are reissuing the kit in the next few months! For me, I hope not. For the rest of you, I hope so. It's a cool little kit of a very cool car. -
Had a lot of fun at the NNL North model car show today. More details can be found in the General area, in thread dealing with "Who is going to the NNL North?" It was another great time, at another great show!

AMT '23 "T" Delivery Van
unclescott58 replied to unclescott58's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's the problem Snake. Other than a mounting post in milddle of the frame crossover, the part that humps up to accommidate the rear axle. Beyond that, the side rails touch nothing until you get to front of the fenders where the radiator mounts. And there is not much touching there! Talked to a few guys today at the NNL North model car show about this. None I talked to have ever built the kit. So, they had no advice or suggestions that was helpful. I'm hoping someone on this forum has built this kit, and can tell me how one mounts the body on the chassis. -
Just got back from the NNL North Show. Got to meet Steve Guthmiller in person. And see some of his models. First, Steve is a very nice guy. Very friendly and personable. His models? They are better than what you can see in the pictures posted here. He is a top notch modeler. So good, he won two major awards at the show. I'll let him tell you about that. He is also very humble about model building abilities. He's a lot better modeler than he thinks he is. Everybody who saw his models were blown away. Beside meeting Steve, I had a great time at the show. Turn out was better than last year. So there were a lot of models to look at. I brought two 1/2 models. I say two and 1/2 because my '40 Willys Curly's Gasser and the trailer it sat on, we're counted as one model. Even though they were built from different kits, at different times. But, I was okay with that. The other model was a '75 AMT Ford van used as a tow vehicle. Both the van and the trailer used Three Stooges decals that came with the Stooges '40 sedan delivery. I won no awards for my models. But, I didn't expect to. My models are only okay. I like them. And so did a few other people from what I was told. And that makes me happy. So I am very please with that. I bought two kits. Nothing real special. But, I got them at very good prices. In fact I thought the vendors prices at the show were pretty reasonable. Better than what I normally see on places like eBay. But, there was nothing I really needed. So I saved a few bucks. I also bought a few raffle tickets for models that were being raffled off. I got skunked there. But again, of the models being raffled off, there was nothing I really had my heart set on. So that was okay too. So in general, I had a great time. Again, saw a lot of nice models. BS's with a lot of good friends. Hopefully made a new friend beyond blogging here, with Steve. And I'm looking forward to next year's show. What more can one ask for? Another good NNL North. I hope others out here will join us next year.

I find normally find windshield pillars a easy fix on any model that has on been painted yet. A good liquid cement, like Tamiya's and everything is good. The right cement welds styrene parts together quite well. Very cool kit by the way. Despite the broken windshield frame, a very nice find.

What did you see on the road today?
unclescott58 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ah! You stole my exact line. Other than I might have spelled COOL with a K. The old customize's way. -
I'm presently building AMT' '23 "T" Delivery Van. Not a bad little kit over all. Everything seems to be going together quite nicely, except one thing. I can't figure out how the body mounts on to the chassis? There is one mounting pin/peg right above the rear axle that seems to be designed to go into a hole/indentation in the bottom of body's floor. Beyond that, nothing. Other than that one spot, I don't see where the body really touches the chassis in a way that it can be glued down firmly? Is there anybody out there who has successfully completed this kit? And tell me what I'm missing?

AMT '64 El Camino Speed Boat?
unclescott58 replied to Aaron_F's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Anybody know the history of the real boat this kit was based off of? I've done several different searches and can find nothing on a real boat just like that one. A searches using the word Westcraft, or West craft. or combinations with each come up with nothing on a real life that matches the AMT kit boat. -
Missing Link 70-71 cyclones
unclescott58 replied to kevin l's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Looking on line, it looks like MPC's present NASCAR Cyclone has nothing at all that can be used in building a stock Cyclone. I'm guessing the best bet is Revell's '70 Torino kit. I'd really like to see one built before buying this resin kit. I'd like to see the exact changes needed to adapt Revell's Torino chassis and interior to this resin kit. Is anybody buying this kit for sure, and willing to show us the build on one the of the threads here? Letting us know what really needs to be done to build a stock/street Cyclone. This sounds like it possibly could be a pain to build? -
Okay now my questions start rolling in

Dito. Been using the stuff for years. One of the few Testor products I like. -
Today in the mail, I got Missing Link's '65 Buick Wildcat resin. The first time for me ordering from them. Opening the box, I was very please with what I found. A nice looking resin, that looks like it will take very little prep to build into a nice model. I especially like the chrome parts. I hate buying a resin kit were I need to send parts out to be chromed. No problems there with Missing Link's '65 Wildcat. The parts that need to be chrome, are already chromed and nicely done. Shipping was fast. And the price was reasonable. What more can one ask for?

Missing Link 70-71 cyclones
unclescott58 replied to kevin l's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
By the way, my only real worry using the MPC kit is the engine and lack of a floor console. And when I get one, I building mine to represent a Cyclone GT. I like the GT much better than the Spoiler. -

unclescott58 replied to kevin l's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
As noted else where, I got my '65 Wildcat from you today. And I am very please with what I got. So, your Cyclone is now high on my list of must haves. I would just like a little more info on the Cyclone kit. What regular model kit does one use with this conversion? Are all the parts in MPC's Cyclone NASCAR model there, other than the parts you provide? I remember the original MPC '70 and '71 Cyclones were set up to be built stock or NASCAR using the same chassis. From my understanding, in the later NASCAR version, MPC omitted the the stock parts, and modified the body to be more like a real NASCAR racer. So, using that recently reissued MPC kit, and your resin kit, can I build a stock Cyclone? Or is there other stuff I will need? Or do I need to modify a Revell Torino to make it work? -
I just got home and found my '65 Wildact resin waiting for me. Man she is a nice looking model. You do quality work. I'm pleased to say that everything looks. No flash, other than in the vent windows. Which is no big deal. And very nice chrome. As I said, I'm pleased. You'll be please to know I made mention of you at this last Wednesday's Model Car Club of Minnesota meeting. I was told by others there that you do good work. And to expect nice stuff from you. They were right. So, gang. I'm impressed and have no problems recommending Missing Link as a vendor. Thanks Kevin.

'58 Edsel. Pacer 4-door sedan. Prefer a convertible or 4-door hardtop. But, for practical reasons it would have to be a sedan or wagon. The Edsel wagons were just too ugly. So a sedan it would have to be. If it had to be a wagon, it proably be a 4-door Chevy wagon. Prefer the Nomad in that case, which became a 4-door that year.

AMT 1929 Ford A Roadster "Mod Rod"
unclescott58 replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
In preparation for this up coming release, I went on eBay today and bought the last reissue of this kit. With that one I'll be building a stock A. With the Mod Rod kit when it comes out, I'll be building the Mod Rod itself, with fenders. And the fenderless late 20's - 1930's race version. -
