  1. I'm confused. What is going on here? What link are you referring to? What is this whole thread about?
  2. My thoughts exactly.
  3. Life was still a little over 8 years away for me at Christmas of '49. But, just because I wasn't there, doesn't mean I can't have some understanding of what happen back then. I still know the United States Declaration of Independence was declared on July 4, 1776. And Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7, 1941. The 1949 Fords made their appearance on show floors on June 10, 1948. The '49 Oldsmobiles, December 19, 1948. So, I'm just guessing the '49 Ford promo models with the suicide doors were out before the '49 Olds promo. It makes common sense. But, just because it makes common sense, does that make it right? I don't know?
  4. Sorry to do this Art, but I need to question you on this one. The '49 Fords hit the show floors about 6 months before the '49 Oldsmobiles. And AMT made the mistake of tooling up their first '49 Ford 4-door promos with suicide rear doors. They fixed that on the later versions, which tells the AMT's promos either appeared or were tooled up before the real '49 Fords hit the streets. I have my doubts that GM would have given a sneak preview of their '49 Olds 98, even though the body would be a carry over from '48, more than six months before the real car would appear. I'm not saying your wrong. I'm just not sure you right. I'd love know the answer to this one myself.
  5. A couple of weeks ago I received Modelhaus' resin '67 Corvair Monza 4-door hardtop. A very nice kit (goes without saying, it Modelhaus), of the one and American 4-door hardtop in the compact class. A lovely car. It should look great next to my Modelhaus '66 Corsa convertible I bought at the same time.
  6. Very nice. Very clean.
  7. Except in the world of MPC. They also offered a Fury based Roadrunner for 1976! Why they did this I'll never know? With Volare being the big thing it was that year, and Plymouth showing Volare Roadrunners right away. That's a mystery to me. And your right Harry, Plymouth did offer Volare Roadrunners right through 1980. Thankfully they had the sense to end it there. So we didn't have to see a Reliant K car version.
  8. Nice job!
  9. Looks good!
  10. Very nice! And welcome to the group here.
  11. Kool! I like it.
  12. Nice!
  13. Wow Al! Very nice. Looks like one I'll see pop up in old Mannix episodes from time to time. Still a classy lookin car.
  14. Just bought one on eBay. Another outstanding car into a series of cars dating back to the early 1960's. I'm not a big Ford guy, but I love Ford's GT-40s (even the Mk III) and the newer GTs.
  15. AMT 1969 Ford Galiaxie 4-door? Kit or promo, I don't remember that one?
  16. Mr Yost. Back in the early 1970's did you write a book or two on model building?
  17. I don't hate it. But, I don't like it either.
  18. Oh boy! I rarely get permission to call anybody "stupid". Okay, your STUPID! I don't know why? Because your question wasn't stupid at all. So why do you want to be called stupid?
  19. Remind me. I know the name. But, who is Don Yost again?
  20. I've got some catching up to do. I figure I'm only about 27,000 or 28,000 models and toys behind him. I have 11 more years until I reach 69. I don't know if I can do it. But, I'll keep trying.
  21. Pretty cool! How did you find this over in Wisconsin?
  22. Good question. For that is what I do too.
  23. Our pirate group made an unpaid visit to a young man who just turn six. A local news station did a feature on this kid and his fight with cancer. The kid loves pirates. So Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Hook, Arabella, Red Bess, and I, Dudly the Deck Hand made arrangements to show up at his birthday party without him knowing about it a head time. The young man and his other guests were quite delighted by our visit. I got killed (again) in several duals. They chased Captain Hook around with a stuffed crocodile. One little lady fell madly in love with Captain Jack, and want to go home with us (I don't think Arabella would approve). And when one kid got into accusing us of not being "real" pirates, the guest of honor, the birthday boy, defended our integrity. It was a wonderful time. And the birthday boy was one of the nicest and sweetest kids I've met in long time. Well worth the trip and afford put into this one. Even though we were not paid (in money) this time.
  24. Pacer wagon? Good news if true. This must be the old AMT kit. For I don't believe MPC ever offered the wagon version of the Pacer. And if it is the stock Pacer wagon, not the Custom Panel version, it would still have the original low nose front end. It would be a nice contrast to the MPC Pacer reissued a coupe of years. Though I do like that model too.
