  1. Boy, talking about turning a sow's ear into a silk purse. I'm blown away! I didn't know a Pyro/Lindberg Lincoln could look so good.
  2. Ah, the reviews are out there. You just need to do a little closer looking here. Serveral of these kit were released later on as Lindbergs. I know from first hand, as for the Cord 812 it is terrible. Look for the old Monogram one. I've heard bad things about the '48 Lincoln Continental too. And somewhat mixed reviews on the Auburn. But, not enough bad things to make me not consider buying one someday in the future.
  3. Again I want to put in a plug for Mark here. He and I just did a deal this last week that went great. Again thanks Mark. I've done a few other deals with others here, and each time I've had very good luck. I've also had very good luck buying from others around on the Internet. I buy a lot of stuff off of eBay, and have never really had any major troubles. Maybe I'm just lucky?
  4. The above shouldn't be too tough to fix. Even if you are fairly new to model building. Snap it back together. Glue, sand, and a little putty with a little more sanding. Then a good primer. Which you'll need anyhow if you plan on painting it something other than black. And it will look great in no time.... At least as great as one can get a Revell Henry J to look. If you've never built one of Revell's old gassers your in for a shock. In other posts you've indicated you apprehension about the lack of detail in some early kits. This kit you've got the opposite going. Lots of detail for the time it was tooled. But, very fussy to assemble and get looking right. And after a while your fronttires and wheels will start bending inwards at the top, because the front axle is too thin for the weight of the complete kit. Because it's the only kit in town of that particular subject, one just learns to work with, and live with this kits defects. The repairs to the body maybe the easy part in building this one.
  5. Here's an old one I read about in an old Car Model magazine back in the early 70's, that works pretty well. Colgate toothpaste. And for some reason Colgate only. Polish the glass with it. I had very good luck clearing up minor glass problems with Colgate.
  6. I was just thinking. There are other subjects like the bikes, that I would like to see them reissued in parts packs. MPC's '69 and '70 Pontiac Bonneville hardtop kits came with a canoe and roof racks. In the early 60's AMT's Ford pickup trucks came with a go kart. Several MPC kits came with mini bikes and bumper brackets. Man, I loved those extras. I am sure there are others I don't even know about, but would be interested in buying if Round 2 were to offer them in in a simular parts pack packaging.
  7. This afternoon I got the Monogram Paddy Wagon w/figures. They state one figure is Sean Fogerty. And The other Patrick O'Reilly. What they don't say, is which figure is Fogerty and which one is O'Reilly. Does anybody out their know? Which is which?
  8. Sorry guys. I have no way of posting pictures here.
  9. Got my first resin cast piece from Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland. I ordered and received their 1/25 Hot Curl w/Surfboard & Hot Curl's New Best Friend Hot Spot!! For those who don't know, Hot Curl was caricature of a surfing dude from the early 1960's. A full size statue of him appeared on a famous surfing beach in San Deigo at the time. Much to the displeasure of the authorities. Some compromising was done, and Hot Curl got to stay on the beach until a storm took him out. He kind of got a cult following, and MPC decided to release a model of him with their first release of their '29 Ford Woody/Pickup kit in the mid 60's. This kit has been released several times over the years. The last time as an AMT kit about ten years ago. But, never again with Hot Curl. Well, I wanted a Hot Curl. And someone here told me that Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland made a resin copy. So I got a hold of them a ordered one. For my money I got very nice, clean resin model of Hot Curl, his surf board, and a dog they call Hot Spot. 13 pieces in all. Hot Curl includes a spring to place in his body on top of his legs. So he can wiggle. All in all, very kool! And I'm very happy! The casting is good. The price was right. And shipping was fast. What more can one ask for?
  10. I'll be buying a set.
  11. It got here today. And in perfect shape. Again, thanks Mark.
  12. Thanks for another great review Chris. I got a lot of mixed feelings on the this kit. Don't know if I should buy it or not. I really want to build a close to showroom stock version of this truck. And I don't see how it can be done with the kit set up as it is. At least you can lower the suspension to a more stock height. But, will the wheels and tires supplied with this kit fit with the suspension set up that way? I can overlook most of the other problems in the kit. As noted the compartment doors on the side of the box can be filled in. Is cover for inside the box required to be used if one wants to use the roll bar? And it looks there are holes the front bumper for the brush guard. Do both brush guards in the kit use those same holes? The turn signals in the bumper? I'm not sure what to do about those? Strip the bumper, fill them in with putty, then All Clad them? Or ignore them? Pretend the vehicle was in an accident where either the bumper or the grille was replaced by the wrong year piece?
  13. Very cool! Look forward to seeing this one done.
  14. I've known about these cars. But, I do not know any more than you have all ready posted. This should turn out to be a very interesting model. I look forward to see your future posts on this build.
  15. Thank you Mark. I'm looking forward to the model when it gets here. And it was a pleasure dealing with you too.
  16. I understand. We've all done it (see thread on suicide doors). Just having a little fun with it.
  17. I'm doing this not to be some kind of jerk or anything. But, you guys have not done much research on your subject if you only have pictures of the front and side views of this car. Right after my post above, I did a Google search, typing in "amx gt show car." Guess what I found? Serveral photos, including those the rear of car. So there is no need to speculate on what the rest of the car looks like. There is also a guy on line working on building a full-size replic of the car. Interesting car. You guys need to do more research. On the car itself, if nothing else.
  18. No offense, but the above statement is a big reason I would not be interested in this model. I'd be more interested in Mr. Teague and company's original design, rather than Dr.Devil72 and your customized ideas. I'm sure there has to more information out there than the one 3/4 front view you have. If not on the web, I wound start digging though old magazines from the time period. Or books on AMC, and AMX history in particular. I know I've seen other shots of car. The rest of your project as you describe it, sounds like a pipe dream to me. I wish you luck, and hope I'm wrong on that.
  19. Went to the link. Interesting, but at the same time sad.
  20. "Looking on lint"? I'm amazed you found a couple train shops on lint. I'm going have to start check my lint more closely. With my lack of house keeping skills, I have lots of lint laying around here!
  21. The more I look and read about this kit, the less enthused I am by it. I wish it was an earlier version of that generation truck. A '73 or '74 would be preferred. Then there is the way it sits. Too high for a stock GM 4-wheel drive set up. I'm also not keen on the extra panel lines for the Fall Guy storage compartments. Though I can probably fix that with a little body putty. Mainly the tires and suspension height turn me off. It basically can not be built as factory stock truck. I'm sure I'll be passing on this one.
  22. The more reasearch I do, the more I think the correct factory color for the Red Ram engine is silver.
  23. This is interesting and good news. Thanks Round 2.
