AMT 1929 Ford A Roadster "Mod Rod"
unclescott58 replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's all good news. I'm excited. -
Very cool. I love vintage highway patrol cars.

Looks great. But, a "Gentleman's Muscle Car?" I don't think so. That a pure all out muscle car to me. A "Gentleman' Muscle Car" is more like a Buick Wildcat, Chrysler 300, or in the case of Plymouth, a Sport Fury. GTX may not be the pure muscle in the Road Runner/Super Bee vein. But, it always stacked up to things like the GTO, 442, Torino GT, etc. Now off my soapbox. You did a very good job on your build. You can be proud.

Very nice.

But, can you built both the stock version and the Mod Rod with fenders? In other words, will it still come with the stock fenders and the modified Ala-Kart fenders? I'm guessing it will. But, does anybody know for sure? -

Thanks for the link. The more I learn about this kit, the excited I get. Only one bit of confusion on this up coming release. Will I be able to build the Mod Rod version with full fenders. Or only the fenderless version shown in the box art? -
Boy, the closer one looks, that is really a very nice collection of cars. Definitely looks like there's some good stuff in there worth saving.

Car engine quiz.

Disappointed! I missed two. Needed to read things more carefully. -

Me too!

Try getting in or out of a car with suicide doors and you'll know right away. The "suicide" style of door is out of your way, especially for swinging in or out your legs and feet. It's really that simple. With good door latches, and closed properly they're really not a problem. But not latched properly. Oh, boy!

Shag carpet.

Wow! Again, not my taste. But, who an I to judge?

Hmmm. The above tells me never to share anything I do on line. A guy thinks something is cool. He should be criticized because you don't agree? I'm sure you've heard the old saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say. Say nothing at all." Now I've got mixed feelings about that saying. Sometimes a little constructive criticism can be very helpful. But somehow on the web people seem to think its okay to say anything they want. Good or bad. Civility goes out the window. Again I not saying I like the dashboard above. It's a bit too much for me. But what is wrong if he wants have a airplane like instrument panel in his car? What's wrong with wanting to pay airplane? How is that hurting me or anyone else ou there? I do goofy things all the time. Some of them pretty immature. But, as long as don't hurt myself or others, and take care of my adult responsibilities, who really gives a rat's hind end what others think? I'm having fun. And I'm sure that's what the guy who built that dashboard was doing.

I'd like to see a review with pictures, of what's included in the Lindberg '34 Ford kit. Does it still include the custom wheel covers and the Thunderbird engine the origin had? And I keep reading about how the Lindberg's '40 Ford coupe is almost an exact of AMT's '40 Ford coupe. But not as good. It would be interesting to see a review, again with pictures, comparing the two kits to each other. Years ago I bought Lindberg's Dodge cab over truck with the flatbed trailer and their '40 Ford coupe. From what I remember, it didn't look all that bad to me.

Hey guys nobody is saying you have to set your car up like that. Ture it doesn't turn me on either. But, if the guy who own the Vette likes it, more power to him.

'32 Ford color and trim?
unclescott58 replied to unclescott58's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Art and Steve. Unless I hear different I'm going with what you say Art. From what I've seen, I beleive you to be correct. -
Does anybody know where to find, or have information on stock/factory colors and interior trim for 1932 Fords? I'm mainly wondering what colors were the factory interiors based on the exterior paint one choose? And was this different if you bought a Model B vs. a V8? Or a standard vs. deluxe? Or the body style you choose? And what were the colors of the open cars tops? In the near future I plan on building one stock version of each of the AMT '32 Ford kits. Trying first to decide on what colors to paint each car. Then what color to paint the interior. (And that brings up another question, does the dash match the interior or exterior of the car?) On the roadster and phaeton what color to paint the top. And on all of them, what color to paint the wheels. Im sure there is someone in our community here, that has that information. Or knows where to find it. My web searches mainly take me to vendors selling paint or upholstery kits. But, with very little info on what goes with what.

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
unclescott58 replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
About three weeks ago, I had to buy a new battery for my 2000 LeSabre. The one I replaced was in the car for more than 10 years! In Minnesota this is considered a minor miracle. The battery that gave me such great service? An AC Delco, with a 6 year warranty. So did I replace it with another Delco? No. Since I work for a O'Reilly Auto Parts store part time, I bought one of theirs. Too good of a price to pass up with my employee discount. Even though I doubt I'll get same service out it. Not that's it's bad battery. It's just going to be tough beating the life I got from that last Delco. -
Ah good old Harry to the rescue. Thanks. I needed that.
