  1. Never mind my above posting. I went back and re-read using the link afx posted above, about the "Best E-type kit." How quickly one forgets discussions, even when they were involved in them. For me, it looks like I should be hunting down a Revell roadster.
  2. A review comparing the different Jag E type kits would be cool. I like many others, love the looks of these cars. But, none of the model kits I've seen quite grab me. Either they don't look quite right. Or I hear they are tough to build to get to look right. I'd love to someday build a roadster. But, I've been scared off over the years by what I've seen or heard. Which version does one buy and build? Someone with average building skills.
  3. That front end does not have the grace of the Ala Kart. Nor do the fenders. It's just off by a little bit, to not look right to me. As noted, I'm not a big fan of the Ala Kart. But, I can see comparing this to the real Ala Kart, why Barris is considered a respected designer. The Ala Kart looks better in subtle ways.
  4. Okay, I went ordered one. I don't know why I want this one so bad. I'm not not a big motorcycle guy. The only bikes I've ever built before, are ones that came with other kits. Things like the chopper that came with Tom Daniel's Cherry Bomb. Presently I'm working on MPC's Honda Trail 70. So, I've not had a lot experience with building bikes. Ive been kind of waiting before ordering this kit, to see a real good review and/or build of it. The photos provided by Christian are helpful. But, I was looking for more. Yet, I'm find no one here, or anyplace else on the web, doing a complete review or build of this kit. Are people buying and building this kit? Or is it such a bad or tough kit to build that everybody is avoiding it? Would really like to know what I'm getting into.
  5. Did they make a new 327 for this kit? Or did they reopen the gates in the mold? I ask because the 327 in the recent kits looks identical to the one in the original issue.
  6. In our case, we've seen a lot worst in the past. This one really isn't too bad. Still, it's no fun. I hate snow!
  7. Okay, just went to the National Weather Service web site. Their snow depth maps are showing 7.5 inches in my neighborhood so far.
  8. We're experiencing a blizzard right now. Started here right at noon yesterday. It was hell driving home from work yesterday. It took about 3 times longer than normal. I have not gone outside since getting home from work yesterday. So I don't know exactly how much snow we've gotten so far, but it's a lot! Decided to not take any sub jobs for today. Planning on spending the day with shovel and snowblower. One thing to be greatfull for. My next door neighbor made one run with his snowblower over my driveway in the alley at about 9pm last night. He is probably the best neighbor in the world. He is always helping out with things like this. Don't kid yourself, when I do get out there later this morning, if his driveway and boulevard sidewalk need extra clearing, I'll be returning the favor.
  9. Plan on ordering this kit tomarrow, for my upcoming birthday.
  10. Are there not two different '29 Model A roadster kits that have been put out by AMT over the years? I'd like to know more about the differences between those two. Besides a comparison to the Revell version. Does Tim or anybody else know the complete history of AMT's Model A roadsters? Im still wondering, in the past reissues, before 1973, the Mod Rod was shown using the Ala Kart fenders and running boards. The '73, 25th anniversary version the box art looks like it was using the regular fenders and running boards. Was the Ala Kart fenders and running boards still in that kit? Was one able to build the two A's both with fenders in that kit? And will one be able to build two fendered cars with the version they plan on releasing next?
  11. After seeing Christian's last post above, I really want a Land Rover too.
  12. I'd love to see the Mercedes 450 SL come back. I had one, and liked it. If it looks right, I don't care if it's too simple or not. Simple kits are okay with me.
  13. One of my pace changing things is building spaceship kits designed in, or of designs designed in the 50's and 60's, depicting a future that never came. At least not yet. I love the optimistic view, whether realistic or not, we had of the future back then. Gene Roddenberry, Irwin Allen, and Gerry Anderson are some of my heroes for making my childhood future so much fun and hopeful. And it's not just their's and other's fantasy stuff I love. I love the proposed spacecraft that never came true either. I've built models of Star Trek's Enterprise, the Forbidden Planet's C-57D Space Cruiser, 2001's Space Clipper, AMT's Lief Erickson, Space 1999's Eagle, Disney's Man in Space 3-stage rocket, and others. I'm working on MPC's Pilgrim Observer, and Disneyland's TWA Moonliner. Plus others. I've built two different versions of Irwin Allen's Seaview. And two different versions of the Flying Sub also. Plus Moebuis' Jonny Quest Dragonfly. All these have, and still do, take me on great fantasy trips around the universe in my imagination. It's a lot of fun. By the way, my "holy grail" in this genre is Revell's 1959 space station. The one shaped kind of like a coffee can. I hear it was a poor seller in it's day. So now it's become very rare and very desirable. And very expensive! I've written to Revell about it. To see if could ever be reissued. I was told the molds for that one are long gone.
  14. I agree. At the same time, doesn't somebody offer this car in a 1/24th scale kit already? If not. I can't imagine how that one has gotten passed over all of these years. I remember a neighbor kid back in the early 60's having a plastic toy, complete with a opening door, of this car. Even then I knew of the real car. And have always thought it cool.
  15. Boy, the high school ad above is pretty neat. Nothing like that in my yearbooks. Back to the kit. I understand you can build two full cars from this kit. So I can build two full fender cars? The Mod Rod, and a stock roadster to display together? Everybody else is excited about the Ala Kart pieces. I could care less about that vehicle. I've always thought it looked too busy. I like the cleaner looking (IMO) Mod Rod much better. I really like the '32 grille shell with with vertical, stacked headlamps along side. An odd, but cool look. By the way, despite my lack of interest in the Ala Kart. The more of it restored, the better. The more options and original parts back the better. Now, I wish they'd restore and/or bring back the '32 Ford 2-door sedan that came with the '40 Willys. I don't need another '40 Willys, but I would really like that '32.
  16. Welcome back. It's good to hear from you again.
  17. How much did it cost?
  18. I'm no Isetta expert by any means. But, that windshield just looks so wrong to me. It ruins the kit for that reason alone.
  19. I'm not I a big Hurst/Olds fan. I'll wait to see if they do a "regular" Supreme (Calais) or 442 version in the future.
  20. Another one I want for my collection.
  21. I don't think I was whining one bit. I think the kit is fine for what it is. I may not get it. But, I think it's going to be a big hit for Moebuis. Speaking of whining. If you think this is bad, go back and read the reviews on Revell's '70 'Cuda and '67 Camaro. (Both of which I like.) what your reading here is pretty mild.
