Turning west and following I-80 to the coast is the way to go. Then take the Pacific Coast Highway to LA. Like others, I'd be a little worried driving that old a truck without a good thorough going over. I-80 does take you over Donner's Pass. So you will be doing a little climbing. Though I did it in a '71 Buick Riviera a few years ago with no problems. It could be a great trip. Or a nightmare, like the time I tried driving a '67 Riviera from a New Jersey suburb of Philadelphia, PA back to the Twin Cities. A very easy run with a good car. And seller had assured us the car ready to go. The car didn't make it the less then 5 miles into Philadelphia with out breaking down. Had to have it towed back to the seller. Then I had to wait all the next day while they "fixed the problem." Only to break down in Warren, Ohio for a couple of days before getting home. Still if the truck checks out, I'd try it. It should be a lot of fun.

You got it. They block my view of the near by toxic waste dump.

Yea, a 4 cents difference doesn't make sense to me either. Digital = $39.95. Print and digital = $39.99. But, guess which one I went for?

"awfull 914 kit"? I liked the one I build 2-3 years ago. A little fiddly, but it turned out pretty nice. -
Look closer. You can get a print subscription sent right to your door, six issues, for less than $40. The print and digital only prices are very close. But, the print version is there.

Check eBay. I buy old magazines there all the time. -
So what's people's thoughts on not painting the black plastic parts. Is it nessarily to paint it to look good or not? I'm still undecided.

I'm one of those. So thank you.

CARtoons is back! I just read the digital copy of issue #0. It's great! And to learn about CARtoons being back, on my birthday. Happy birthday to me! I'll tell you, I wasn't a 58 year old man as I sat there reading the latest issue of CARtoons. I felt young again! And that's no exaggeration.

Just finished reading the digital copy of issue #0. Very, very kool! I loved it. I found myself chuckling out loud several times. Man, it's so cool to have CARtoons back! Just turned 58 today, and I felt like a kid, reading the latest issue. Thank you to the who bought this back. It was a great birthday gift.

Other than paint and glue, I'll be building mine straight out of the box.

Okay I did a web search on the Panzernest. An interesting idea. But, I still question its overall usefulness. Really only mobile the one time. Kind of like trench warfare on a new level.

What exactly is it? My impression from the box art is that it is some kind one man armored box? If it is, I'm seeing more disadvantages than advantages to this. It maybe mobile. But how mobile in heavy fighting? And how does one get in and out of it quickly? Plus, I bet it gets hot in there when sealed up. The Germans are great engineers. But this one doesn't look to be one of their better ideas.

Okay, I got my Honda 750 in the mail yesterday. Man, priority mail can be fast. Opening the box, but still leaving everything in bags. Some question come up as I look at the instructions. The first thing I'm confused about. How does the tachometer and speedometer attach to the bike? The instructions are not clear on this at all. It's all so a little fuzzy on attaching what I assume are the ignition coils. Using the vinyl tubing looks a little confusing, and could be a bit of a rat's nest. But, I have feeling this will be okay if I take my time. I also have a question about painting. The black plastic parts are molded in a very nice black plastic. So nice, I debating on painting them. Leaving them as is instead. The red plastic parts will be primed, and then painted blue. Any thoughts on leaving the black plastic alone? Or will it be obvious it's black plastic when the bike is done. This will be my first true motorcycle model, other than the chopper that came with Tom Daniel's Cherry Bomb. And that turned very nice, but it had a lot less detail than this. Building this should be fun, interesting, and maybe a little bit challenging.

It turns out that my bike arrived in the mail yesterday. Just in time for my birthday. Priority mail can be fast! A question comes up as I look at the instructions. What and how does the tach and speedometer attach to on the bike itself? Is this obvious as you build the model? For it sure is not obvious in the instructions. Other wise, everything else looks pretty straight forward. The vinyl tubing looks like it could be a little bit of a rats nest. In fact, I'm also a little unclear about mounting what I assume are the ignition coils. Beyond that, construction looks pretty straight forward. One last thing. Painting the black plastic parts. They are molded in what looks to be a pretty nice black plastic. I'm tempted to leave them as is and just assemble the kit. The red plastic pieces I will be painting. Anybody have any thoughts on this.

Looking good. I've been waiting for someone to get around to building this. I just ordered one the other day off of eBay as a birthday gift for myself. It has not arrived as of yet. But, it's only been two days. Anything in particular one need to watch out for in build this kit? Or are things pretty straight forward?
