  1. I mainly use Tamiya lacquer paints in spray cans. I love them. Testor's One Coat Lacqer works pretty good too. I hate the work and hassle of using an airbrush. And with the great paint jobs I get from lacquer paint in spray cans, I can see no good reason to switch to an airbrush.
  2. I just use Testor Stoplight Red and Turnsignal Yellow enamel paint. It works fine even without silver paint or bare metal foil behind it.
  3. I believe your right on the interiors Charlie. The Canadian Pontiacs were mainly Chev engines, chassis, and interiors. The outside sheet metal and dashboards, were Pontiac. Strato-Chief equaled Chevy's Biscayne. Laurentian = Bel Air. Parisienne = Impala.
  4. I suspect this version is as "stock" of a Belvedere I as we'll see from Moebius. The small valve covers, the round air cleaner, and dog dishes tell me this car maybe built close to something one could find somewhat regularly on Plymouth's show floors at the time. I'm not keen on the exhaust setup for a regular showroom stock automobile. Or the bucket seats. But, both were available from the factory for the car. Again, for something I would have been interested for "regular" use, the Satellite more fits the bill for something I would have looked for in a real Plymouth Belvedere at my Plymouth dealer back in 1965. Other than the racing crowd, I don't think too many people were interested in a 2-door Belvedere Is with a 426 wedge and buckets. And doubt many modelers today plan on building this kit as a stock, showroom, non racing Belvedere either. But, the box art does depict a showroom stock Belvedere I. A family version, rather than a racing model. Why Moebius has chosen to depict the car this way on the front of their box, without the bench seat and regular exhaust in the box, I do not understand. This maybe one of their few mistakes.
  5. They must com from near Iron Mountain, MI up in the U.P. Around here, we have tin worms. They not only eat sheet metal, but they would do a pretty good job on wood too back in the day.
  6. Nice looking trailer. Hope to get one when they become available.
  7. Is that above all the parts in kit? I hope there is more than that. (Y haven't opened up mine yet.)
  8. I've heard of Iron Buterfly. But, never Iron Moth's.
  9. Ya know, I have no interest in this kit. I like the Satellite better. And I'm not a big fan of it. But, the box art got me to buy it (that and Moebuis' reputation). The box shown above might get to buy the Belvedere I also. Maybe. Though I doubt it.
  10. Okay. Fun and creative article. I'm a little disappoint it's not real. But, cool none the less.
  11. By the way, in the photo above with Robby and the LeSabre, what is Robby doing to the LeSabre? He has the hood open. Should Harley Earl be worry the next time he drives it? Or is Robby hopping it up, so it can go as fast as vehicle he drove in the Forbidden Planet? Do anybody know the story behind this photo? And are there others?
  12. Yea. You guys got some snow. Beautiful to look at. A pain in the butt to move. Even by Minnesota standards you got a lot of snow in one snowfall. We've been very lucky here this winter. A few very cold days recently. But, not too much snow. It's actually been a pretty winter this year. I've got very little to complain about.
  13. Both the Nazi flying saucer and the crazy super tank are pretty cool. Weird. But cool.
  14. I'm very happy that I'm not having to share weather with the east coast this weekend. In we're getting a January thaw. As I write this, my digital thermometer just showed 30 degree Fahrenheit. The sun is shining. What a difference from the last two weekends. And it looks like it will be staying like this for the next few days. Life is good. I can stop searching for my gun. ? I'm happy again. I am sorry for all of you guys out east.
  15. Much cooler than I expected. I want one too!
  16. Really? I've never seen that happen from just regular use on any full frame vehicle. That is an odd one.
  17. Ah, the good old Phatom Corsair. Since the Phatom hangs out in the jungle and is known for riding a horse. I don't think it fits him. There are two "super" heroes famous for riding around in sleek black cars. Batman and Green Hornet. The would work well for either one. Just maybe need to ad a large dorsal fin, center, rear, to the car to be a great Batmobile.
  18. Okay, so maybe I'm wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. Won't be the last. Though I see nothing about an FXX-K in the link you've provided.
  19. This one, I am waiting for! Again, thanks for keeping us up to date Dave.
  20. Even though I have no interest in this one, I like the fact that keep us up to date Dave. And, just because my interest is low, it doesn't mean I don't think you have another winner on your hands. I'm sure you do. It sounds like something a lot of builders will be hot for.
  21. Lots of speculation. And little to no facts. What is the point of this thread? Let me know when Tamiya really tells us something. Until then....
  22. Two more I'd love to see. Though with the 300s from the 50's, I want the four-door convertible.
  23. Great comparison, Chris. It looks to me that Moebius and AMT both did a great job on their kit's bodies back in the day. It would be fun to see how other parts compare.
  24. Never mind about the coconut. Looking at the photos again, I see that it is a seashell. Still turned on very cool!
