  1. I want the Sunnseeker 108' Predator yacht.
  2. I'd like to see a review of Otakl's '72 Thunderbird. I've always been a little fearful of the kit looking at the box.
  3. Another car people like to bad mouth that I kind of like. Never cared for the 2-door hatchback version they also sold here in the U.S. But, I always thought the 4-door was okay looking. For years, a local hobby store, Scale Model Supplies, had several of the above kits still in stock. In fact, they may still have one or two on their shelves. I finally broke down and bought one a couple of years ago. Typical Asian curbside kit. No opening hood or engine. But not too bad otherwise.
  4. I've been having more fun telling your above mermaid joke Harry. Everybody seems to like it. It's not a knee slapper per say. It's just cute.
  5. Every time I see this it makes want to cry. I would prefer the '51 Commander, because that had Studebaker's first V-8. But, any '50 - '51 bullet nose Studebaker Starlight coupe would be cool. To think they got this close. Ah.... It's sad.
  6. Chris' reviews are some of the best. I tend to watch all of them dealing with model kits. Both cars and the other kits. Even if, like the Flameout, I'm not interested in the kit. They are fun reviews, and always interesting.
  7. Yea, I too found it a little hard to read. Interesting car. Looking at the black & white photos I didn't like it. The stripes were too much. But, then I saw the color photo. And I kind of like it. It's still too much. But in that yellow, it kind of works.
  8. My vote would be for the '60. IMO the best looking car Chrysler ever designed.
  9. What is it? It does nothing when I press the button/arrow that should get it to play.
  10. Thanks Harry. It just scares me how old that song now is. And how I'm becoming.
  11. Just shot me now! What is this person thinking?
  12. I agree with Christian 100% on this. I'd buy them.
  13. This box mistake has been brought up before. It's a pretty nice kit. And will a correct 427 in the box.
  14. Started doing initial subassembly work on my Ventura today. I'm very impressed with what I'm seeing. Everything fits together well. And I am not see any problems down the road. Another home run from Moebius. Thank you Dave Metzner. Your doing a great job.
  15. 31" Disney Nautilus kit?! Who makes that? What more can you us? Can you post some pictures?
  16. I'm thinking Bill has the right idea. I don't know how to download cd-roms in the manner the rest of you are referring to. Nor with the amount on data on these discs do I think it's practical. When I use them on my regular computer, it doesn't actually down load the contents of the disc. It just reads the discs. 108 years of National Geographic magazines is going to take up a lot of space. There are 3 discs for each decade. So I think Bill's idea of the lap top sounds like the best one so far.
  17. Thanks "Santa" Bill!
  18. Still my favorite Christmas movie. "Some people's fathers are Protestants. Some are Catholics. My old man is is Oldsmobile man." "That BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH Oldsmobile would freeze up in the middle summer on the equator." How can you beat lines like that?
  19. Ah yes. Lucas, the Prince of Darkness. Why do Britts drink warm beer? Their refrigerators are all made by Lucas.
  20. A great review, seeing what's in the box. Read the thread, even though I have no interest in this vehicle. The simular vehicle I do have interest in, and can not understand why there is none done like this Heller kit. Is still the VW Thing (I can't remember what they called it in other parts of the world). That's the one I want.
  21. Boy Dave, considering cars of that era were such pieces of you know what, we got a lot of use out of them. My first new car, my '77 Volare had problems. But, it got me were I needed to go. And I too have fond memories of different things I did with that car. And places and events it took me to. I had family and friends who owned other cars that people now look badly upon. You mention Mustang IIs. My dad had a '77 he bought brand new. Other than a broken camshaft. It really wasn't a bad car. I had several friends who owned Chevettes. Including one who own a T-1000. All got very good service from those. I couple friends with Pintos. In general they were not good cars. But, we traveled far and had fun in them. For all the bad things you hear about Vegas. A buddy of mine who was tough on everything. Could not kill his parents '71 for longest time. I can go on with stories of Mavericks and other beaters friends had owned back then. Somehow these cars all gave us pretty good service, over all. So were they really bad cars? I'm not so sure they were really any more unreliable then the cars people were driving ten, twenty, or thirty years before. But, by the 70's the government had stepped in. Try to make the cars cleaner and safer. Making them uglier and poor performers compared to those a few years before. But, I'm not sure the build quality, engineering, or materials were any worst. My folks new '61 Comet rusted almost to junk in the 6 years they owned it. Dad's '71 Toyota Hi-Lux pickup did no better. Yet we thought they both were very good vehicles. They and the '67 Comet served us well. So did my folks '75 Mercury Monarch. And by the late 70's, there were glimmers of hope. My mother bought a new Oldsmobile 88 in 1980. She drove that car for twenty years. It gave her great service and still looked and ran good in 2000 when she got rid of it. Now my 2000 LeSabre is by far the best car I've ever own. At just over 122,000, nothing major has been done to the car since new. And virtually no rust. It's a wonderful car. But, still I miss my '53 Chrysler New Yorker with bad brakes. My six year old slightly rusty, but very trusty '73 LeSabre. My '62 LeSabre that I had to readjust the timing every week or so. And my first new car, my '77 Volare that would stall on certain quick turns. Go figure?
  22. Thank you! That's much better.
  23. A quick web search lead me to Wikipedia, and they confirmed what you guys are saying about 1980 Volares and Diplomats sharing the same front fenders. Just looking at them in Tad Burness' American Car Bible, 1940-1980, they very close. I'm willing to concede that I'm wrong on this one. Unless I see proof the other way. But, knowing you guys, I'm sure your correct one this one. I bow down to the masters. ?
