  1. I try to ignore the whining and bad attitudes. And enjoy the great wealth of knowledge and interesting people that can be found here. Like any simular thing on the web, your find the ugly trolls. And if you look for them, they'll be there for sure. But, I try not to encourage it as much as possible. They are a lot of great people and information here if you look for it. This place is only as good as you or I make it. And I can't control others. So I just need to watch out for those times when I become a troll. Hopefully it doesn't happen too much. But, it does now and then happen.
  2. Okay I have question for the computer guys out there. This morning I bought a collection of CD-Roms of National Geographic. I own several CD-Roms with things like old comic books and Mad magazines. The trouble I have, to use them I have to go into basement a look at them on my computer. Since buying an iPod a few years ago, I rarely go downstairs to fire up the old computer. I surf the web and most other things from the comfort of my living room or bed using the iPod. I love it! But, I'd like to use the content of those CD-Roms from my living room or bed too. I love read old magazines and comic books in that format. So what do I need to do? What do I need to buy, to enjoy these CD-Roms upstairs too?
  3. I hate snow! We got a dusting here yesterday in the afternoon. Not enough to shovel. I'm happy to say. As I write this, it's 25 degrees fahrenheit. Not as cool as it can be for this time of year. But, not warm either. It has been a warm fall/winter so far. But, we've seen this before. Weather seems to go through cycles from what I've seen seen. This year it's warm. Next year we'll freeze our butts off. Nothing new. I'm going to enjoy not freezing my butt off for now. And I'll deal with the snow and cold when it comes.
  4. For me and my family, Christmas Eve is Christmas. We always open our gifts the night of Christmas Eve after dinner. It seems to be a Scandinavian thing. We play games or watch old Christmas movies after that. Until we're ready to go to sleep. My sister always makes ham for the Christmas Eve dinner. But what I like better, is the next morning, the actual Christmas Day morning. She takes the left over ham and mixes it with scrambled eggs. Yum! I enjoy Christmas now days. I have a really great family and extended family. You know, in laws, etc. They all pretty good and a lot of fun spending time with. They may have a strange sense of humour. But then again, so do I! So, it please me I'm going to my one sister's again for Christmas. I know I'll have a good time. I just hope the rest of you have as good of a holiday with your loved one too. And everybody keeps safe.
  5. In my eyes, the above is not a pretty car. The changes just don't work. The '69 Charger as penned by Dodge stylists back in the day, still work. It's still a beautiful car. Sometimes it's hard to better something in its original form.
  6. I'm not sure why you say the above is weird and ugly. Old trucks are cool.
  7. I'm amazed at how much interest and discussion this kit has brought up. I'm pleased to see that there is interest in it. It seems like when Volares are mentioned at all, anyplace, most people go right into talking about what rotten cars they were. And they were. I owned one. But still, I've always liked them. I'm glad there are others here that seem to like them too. The real cars may have been junk right from the go. The MPC model may not be up to the standards of recently tooled model kits. But, apparently I and others plan on buying and enjoying this nostalgic this trip. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.
  8. Making the above comment must mean your a person coming back under a different name? And it worries me by that comment, your coming back looking for the negative. I hope I'm wrong on both counts, and misunderstood your above quote.
  9. Okay Christian, I 'm voting for you to take over all the model companies and start designating what is going to be produced, and what is not. Your ideas and box art are great!
  10. The rescue of Chrysler came during the Carter administration. Not Regan.
  11. He was a dealer, Harry. One my employers, a Buick dealer has purchased more cars than that at one time. And they're not a really that big of dealership. What makes this story important is Jellnik having them named the model after his daughter, Mercedes. The name became popular, and is of course still used to this day.
  12. I like it. Sad that others in the past put down what you did here. I think it's pretty cool. And I like your explanation that the battery was under the back seat. They the excuse of no battery? Unbelievable!
  13. I don't understand this at all. What is "Mahn's better 'n yern!" even mean? Another reason I say away from Facebook?
  14. Wow! Very nice. I'm impressed.
  15. Bid on one a few months ago. Did not get it. Since learning about this car and model on this thread, it's become one of my "holy grail" kits. I need one. I have purchased literature on the real thing. I love this car. I wonder where the dies are for this? And can it ever be reissued?
  16. Wow! More great stuff! If only.
  17. ?????? It sounds to me like many people know.
  18. I'll be buying one for sure. I love Volares. My first new car was a '77 Volare Custom 2-door coupe. Slant-six with the Torqueflite. Spitfire Orange with a black vinyl roof from the "B" pillar forward. Black vinyl interior w/silver vinyl inserts. A very sharp looking car for the time. I still have a '77 Volare promo in the same Spitfire Orange. i do not like the '80 Volares as much as the '76-'77s. But, I do like them better than the '78-'79s. Since I have the '77 promo, I be happy with the '80 kit.
  19. Just got an email from Model Car Moutain that my pre-ordered Ventura is being shipped! Oh boy!
  20. I'm sorry about your Dad. I understand your feelings. I miss my Father too. But, I am a little tired of see it. Plus, I feel it's a little rude when shown in threads dealing with other persons builds. Why not transfer the Pontiac over to your avatar picture instead? By the way, as tribute to my Dad, I also built model of the first car he bought brand new. A '61 Comet. I got the kit before he died. Meant to build it why he was still alive. Sorry to say, I didn't finish until about a year after he had passed on.
