Taillights and Blue Dots for taillights

Haven't used them yet. But, with tweezers and my OptiVisor it should work out. We will see (for sure with the OptiVisor). Scott -
"NEW" altered Tee body parts pack kit
unclescott58 replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
This is the only parts pack kit I do not already have. Since I have rest, I need to add this one to my collection too. With all of AMT's parts pack kits, I may have to build something with them. Does anybody know how well this body fits on to their parts pack chassis? And has anybody out there ever built a model using only AMT parts pack kits (or at least for the main parts)? And if so. I'd love to see some examples. Scott -
Again like the Chrysler/Corvair engines, I have the last non chrome versions of these engines. And like the other two engines I have yet to put them to use. That being said, these are very nice engines, and I'll be buying another set. Scott

"NEW" Parts Pack kit Chevy Covair engine and a Chrysler
unclescott58 replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I believe the Corvair engine can be built unblown too, if I remember correctly. Two of my favorite engines. So I'll be buying a set. Now what I'm going to do with them I don't know? I haven't put the release of these to use yet. I built them both. And the Corvair engine sits in the back of my AMT '55 Nomad/ElCamino. But, still I'll be buying another pair. Scott -
You got it Vince. I know the problem wasn't on your end. It's who ever does Model Kings decals. I'm glad I have not chosen to use the ones that came with my other Model King models. We tried Vince. And your greatest for helping me out. Scott

By the way. Here is a photo of the left side and the one good decal. Oh, I like the rest of the kit. It was a fun build. The Allison engine is beautiful. The chassis is not up to the detail of the engine. In fact, it's pretty cheesy. The body itself is not of a funny car type. It's just AMT's old annual 1969 Thunderbird body. But I like Thunderbirds. And I love AMT's old Allison engine kit. So I had to build one. Scott

OK, this has actually been done for about two months. But, decal problems prevented me from posting it until now. Over all I'm happy with how the model turned out. I'm especially please with the paint. The body is paint with Tamiya's Pearl White. Very nice paint. I'm very displeased with the decals. I had nothing but troubles applying the decals. I ruined the set that came with the kit. So I posted in wanted section on this site looking for another set. And Vince Nelson was kind enough to find and send me another set decals. (Thanks again Vince!) But guess what? That second set gave me nothing but trouble. The decals would tear. They would stick to everything but the model itself. They would fold up and stick to themselves. And not come apart. The worst set of decals I've ever worked with. At least I got on the two main Allison Thunderland decals. But notice the top of the "n" in Allison. Part ripped off! The other side is perfect. But that is the only decal I got get to lay down perfect! Disappointing! But again thanks to Vince. It's not his fault. Scott

Photoshopped models
unclescott58 replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow! I've never seen that before. It is amazing that you manipulate the same photo to that degree. I'm not saying I think OJ was guilty or not. But, if Time darken that picture purposly. That is wrong. Scott -
I agree with Mr. Hall on both points. Scott

Was just Micheal's hobbies and craft store and found the following. Little adhesive rhinestones. Both purple and red. Silver backed. Will made great taillights. And the very little purple ones should made blue dots for taillights. $2.49 for a package of 116 pieces. Scott

Yea, I'm sure I don't understand how your works either. The only thing that scares me, is I kind of like it. Scott

Everybody keeps bring up that Modelhaus makes this or that Corvair in resin. And yes I know Modelhaus offer some of the best resin stuff out there. I've been buying stuff from them for many years now. But, the about cars I mentioned, I'd like to see full kits done styrene plastic. As good as resin can be, it's still not as easy to work with as styrene. It's also not as cheap. I do not expect to get everything I listed above in styrene. But, it would be nice. Scott

Oh my god! The pictures that Phillip Rowe posed of the Lindberg '48 Lincoln Continental are the first I've ever seen of that kit. Built or unbuilt. That looks bad! The exact opposite of Monogram's '41 Lincoln Continental. Wow! I'd be disappoint if I bought that. And I've thought of it a few times. Now I'm glad I didn't. Scott

This is tough. A couple of weeks ago I picked up Revell/Mongram's recently retooled Rommel's Rod. I knew I'd like the kit. But, I had low expectations of it being all that nice. I've been working on the kit and am delighted by what I've found. The detail and fit of parts is really nice. And yet it's not an overly complicated kit. It looks impressive on one hand. And fun on another. I've always been impressed by Monogram's old classic car kits. Their '37 Cord 812, '41 Lincoln Continental, Duesenberg SJs, and Mercedes 540Ks. Considering the time period they were developed and designed in, these kits still hold up well today. Again, great detail and fit. And yet not too complicated to build. Which maybe the reason Rommel's Rod is such a good kit. It seems to me I've heard that they used some of the same tooling from their classic Mercedes 540K for the Mercedes end of Rommel's Rod. Scott

Revell 4th Quarter new kit announcements
unclescott58 replied to Brett Barrow's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That's my fear Mike, the 20 pages of complaining. If it's wrong, I too hope they fix it to prevent the complaining. I think it looks okay as it is. But, I'm not as picky as others. Scott
